Brenda here! Emily and I are back from our recent WDW trip that included staying at 2 new resorts, dining at 5 new restaurants, and enjoying 1 new themed land! I plan to share all the hilarity, surprises, and fun from our 9 night/10 day stay with you all of you Dis folks here! Some of my Dining Board and FB friends already know our little secrets so shhhhh... no tellin!! Oh the drama!
From the title of my TR you can tell that Disney messed with us a bit...how dare them want to move us to a different room not once but twice! The nerve! Oh, and there was the hitch in our giddy-up when we were put on the wrong Magical Express bus. But heck, if we can survive that and the near-freezing temperatures (35 degrees the morning we left so this California gal was COLD!) we're good!
Spoiler Alert: Since the big reveal occurred in post 222 I can now insert here for anyone who prefers the condensed verision of this TR...
We arrive at YC...we're fetched by concierge staff to go to CL check in...sorry, you can fight over the bed that Celine Dion slept in, oh wait, there are 2 more beds...hope you enjoy the ADMIRAL SUITE. [insert happy tears]
So heres the facts:.
Who: Just the girls Emily (JustEmmy) and me! 9 glorious nights of mother/daughter time together. This was our 4th girl only trip in the last 2+ years. Our last trip in August 2012 was with DH and Em.
When: February 23rd through March 4th 2013
Where: 1 night Animal Kingdom Lodge (pool view room), 3 nights Yacht Club (pool/lagoon view) club level, and 5 nights Bay Lake Tower 1 bedroom (lake view.)
Anyone who has followed my reviews knows that I have a hard time trying new things (Truly! Classic example, I keep ordering the stuffed French toast at CRT.. it hasnt changed much...it is still a bread pudding wannabe!) Ok, perhaps a bad example but the things that I like, I like! And the things that I think I want to try, I just think about them and ponder what it would be like& but thinking doesnt get much accomplished. So this trip I was determined to spend more time at AK park and eat at Jiko for the first time. Thus the brilliant idea formed in my mind to try a new resort and a new restaurant all in the same trip! Therefore, we booked AKL for 1 night to do a test drive of sorts for the resort and see if it would fit our style.
Given that we were already expanding our horizons with staying at AKL, why not go really crazy and try a second new resort this trip as well? In this case Yacht Club. We have stayed at BC (first girl trip) and BWV (last summers trip) so staying at YC would complete the trifecta of Epcot resorts for which we have laid our weary heads.
And finally, our trips to WDW would not be complete without staying at our home resort of BLT (no we are NOT DVC owners but that conversation came up more than once this trip.) We love, love, love everything about it from the proximity to MK, to the décor, to the quietness of the resort, to the smell. Yes, there is a smell to this resort that makes me sigh whenever we first walk through their doors. (Strangely, the dish soap in our kitchen at work reminds me of the BLT smell.)
Why: Since February 23rd is International Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day (seriously, look it up) what better way to celebrate than by going to WDW! Would you believe that we just wanted to enjoy some girl time at our happy place? Ok, well go with the later but you never know, next year I may just get a dog so that we can celebrate February 23rd with a puppy and some Purina Beggin strips.
With that I think we are ready to get the show on the road.
Note: Although Em is doing a dining review heres her DR thread- JustEmmy and Emmysmommy return to WDW for some wining and dining Im going to weigh in on most meals here. My last TR had a separate DR and although Im not doing a formal dining review, I will at least post some photos.
Another thing& I strongly dislike Photobucket now that it has changed to the new format. It may take a bit to edit and size the photos since it is now so difficult to work with. I started to move to Flickr but of course I had just renewed my Pro account with Photobucket. So my parting comment about that is ARGH!
Actually, my parting comment is... look, another photo of us!
There's a great big beautiful tomorrow.. shining at the end of every day... (you were singing along weren't you??)
