I check back here at least once a day- (The DIS LGBT Board)-
Try to converse when the mood strikes - But this is just getting sad.
This used to be such a fun vibrant place.
Tons of chatter and active threads - always interesting - never a dull moment.
WHAT TA HELL HAPPENED?
Is it really a side effect of FB?
Or because of some of the rather stifling DIS rules?
Just Sad I tell you.
Wonder if some of the other DIS boards are having
the same drop in activity?

Oh well - I'll still keep checking this ghost town out -
and hope it comes around.

I agree! This forum was high up on my list of things I though was neat about the DIS.

I may not be much (yet) for starting a conversation but I sure don't mind jumping in!

While I've been around a little while I still feel like a relative newbie. I hope people stick around and at least check in. I enjoy this forum as it helps keep me up to date not only on Disney stuff but things going on in the gay community. It seems like life is crazy and my Advocate/Out sits unopened. I don't see our local monthly half the time so this is kind of my one stop shop for place.

I am very much looking forward to meeting some of you folks in June in the flesh.

Wally, I agree, it probably has to do with more folks on facebook and having formed bonds and communicating that way. But I hope many of you will continue stopping by here.

Yeah, I agree - it's way too quiet!! I've been pretty busy but I tried to hop in a read once in a while. And I can't play on FB (because of my job) ,,, besides, I like to hide from Rosie and her torture.

Things started dying off I felt when they put out the rules about discussing certain political or religious topics. At least I think that was the rule. Then FB started happening and all the sudden you're able to chat with your friends there, causing this place to slowly die off.

I use to complain that we didn't talk enough about Disney related things, now I just wish we'd TALK!

But I too check it out every day. But I've see a few other forums I visit being affected as well.

Case in Point - Right now - This is the ONE thread here going - ONE!
There used to be like 20 active threads whenever you'd checked in.
Do they sell Viagra for boards?

I agree. Viagra or at least some Energy drinks. lol

Do you think it has to do with how careful we have to be about what we talk about or words we use? Just seems like when a thread IS started, it dies off quickly.

Eh, we all do it at some point, some more than others.

But at least we were talking. But yeah you should see me and our friends too. We're constantly joking around, giving each other hell, etc. Only way to be. If I wasn't that way with someone, they should be worried. lol

YES!
I totally think that is a factor.
Being gay is political - IT JUST IS!
So that and the "White Wash" New Rules don't mix.
FB has a freedom you don't have here.
A lot of us talk over there and we don't seem to
piss each other off to much.

Exactly. When you speak your mind about something that someone disagreed with, they went off running to complain to a moderator. There's no such thing as debating anymore, or agreeing to disagree. If you don't agree with someone, you're labeled a troublemaker or something. I guess I understand having some rules in the main forums, but the smaller more specific forums like ours, I don't think needs all the rules, but then again It's not my site either.

And you're right about crapping in the punch. We all get along on FB. Here's there's always a few that you try to avoid conversations with at times. Just sad.
