Worst Ride Experience..I lost it on Mission Space

Tower of Terror

I had never been on it. I was concerned about motion sickness. DS6 was so sad because the big kids were on Rock N Roller Coaster, so I decided I could suck it up and take him on the ride.

Just as the doors of the ride close, he says uh-oh, bloody nose. I've got nothing on me to help. At the end of the ride, he looked like a horror movie victim. There was blood everywhere -- all over his face and neck, his arms from wrist to elbows, his legs, even his socks. His clothes were ruined. We were in the back, so only the people next to us noticed. That man got him out of his seat at the end. I had to tell the ride attendant that he would need to check the area for blood, and he was just stunned looking at us. Since I didn't know the ride, I didn't know where to go, and the blood was kind of freaking me out, I knew there was nothing to worry about - -it was just an enormous mess, not a medical emergency, so I'm kind of hustling him down the hall looking for a bathroom when another attendent tries to stop me, but I'm just focused on trying to find some tissues to stop the blood and get him clean, and I kind of blow her off when she jumps in front of me and with a bit of hysteria says, "You have stop. You have to let me help you." Fairly quickly we were surrounded and moved into some employee area I guess, they called in the EMTs to check him out (they weren't interested in my statement that he was just one of those kids that gets random bloody noses - he has now be cauterized for that). I had to sign a bunch of papers refusing a hospital trip and a statement that nothing happened to cause an injury. Some employee went out into the park and bought him new shorts and a Tower of Terror tshirt which they wouldn't accept payment for and they gave him a chocie of treats for the whole family. He picked Mickey Ice cream bars.

I was kind of bummed that I never saw the ride photo - - I'll bet that made an interesting photo.

I am very scared of heights, so Soarin' is always a hard one for me, but I push myself through it because my daughter loves it. I think it's the feeling that my shoes are going to fall off that really gets me, so I take them off now when I ride. As someone who used to get absolutely terribly motion sick, I am always amazed that I can ride of the coasters at WDW with only minor feelings of nausea.

The worst experience ever was when I was 8 or 9. My grandparents took me down to WDW and we went to River Country. I was a decent swimmer, and went down the slide there (I only remember a big one). Well, I dropped in the water and didn't see the ladder to get out next to the end of the slide. I thought I had to swim across the giant (in my eyes) lake. I started swimming across and I honestly thought I was going to drown there. I became terrified, but somehow managed to float on my back and I slowly made my way across. I still, to this day, remember how scary that was and can feel exactly like I felt.

I don't think I'll ever go on MS. I have a hard time with simulated rides.

That's one helluva story! I don't know if Tower necessarily caused the nose bleed (hopefully you guys don't avoid thrill rides forever now because of that incident!)

But it sounds like everyone was really nice and helpful as they could be.
And after the chaos was over, I totally would have went back to get the photo! They can look it up based on the time of day n stuff.

We had done Green missions for years after my son bailed on a mission when it first opened and there wasn't another option. He was eight and freaked out with all the warnings and we had to take the chicken exit. I went back with my brother in law and we rode. Half way through I look over at him and you can hear him practicing his "Lamaze" breathing. After that with the green option we've always rode until this past trip where my boys, now 9 and 14 want to ride orange. We did. It ruined our 9 year old for the rest of the day. :sad2:

I remember my poor mom had this same experience on Body Wars back in 2001... I was so worried it had ruined the day for her. She eventually came out of it... but bless!

That ride made me so sick and so did Star Tours. After that I don't even try those kind of rides, proud to say I've never been on Mission Space and never will.

I'll never go on Mission Space again . . I could have sworn my wife and I chose the "tame" option ..but the centrifuge was definitely on in our ride. We either chose "Orange" (and I don't recal making that decision) .. or somehow got in the wrong queue without knowing it.

Just feeling ill for an hour or two afterwards just made me not want to go on that ride every again. I can't even recall it being that great.

I can't say I have had any notably bad ride experiences. However this reminds me of one trip to Six Flags Great Adventure with a group of college friends. There were 6 or 8 of us, so we had to ride the Batman roller coaster in separate rows. When we were exiting the ride we realized half of our group was still sitting on the ride - the restraints wouldn't lift up. They were laughing and joking that they'll ride again without waiting in line, and the park wasn't busy so the ride went again.

After their second ride the restraints still wouldn't lift up. At this point we're all laughing hysterically that they're stuck on a ride but still having a good time.

After the third ride, the roller coaster pulls back into the station and our friends are screaming - GET US OFF THIS THING!!! They ended up having to keep the train in the station for ten minutes while they called a maintenance crew to come in and manually unlock the restraints. Our friends didn't ride another roller coaster for the rest of the day.

Carousel of Progress... My wife's friends said it was one of her favorite attractions so we decided to ride it. There was a mechanical issue in which we were stuck between the 2nd and 3rd stages. The CM's or whoever operates the attraction kept trying to back it up and then have it go forward again. We kept hearing the "It's a great big beautiful tomorrow" song start and stop over and over and over again. We were stuck on it for over 45 minutes before they finally came and escorted us off the ride. To this day we laugh about it but still have not ridden it again.

Close second.. Being stuck on IASW for about 30 minutes towards the end of the ride and hearing the song over and over again.

I'm guessing that we should just give up on those kinds of rides.. :)

I practically lived at King's Island as a teenager-the Racers were rough no matter which direction they were going. Haven't been there in MANY years now.
I lived at KI as a kid, early teen also! My dad dragged me on the Racers, forward, once...NEVER AGAIN!

Last trip we were stuck on Its a Small World. My daughter told me if I ever make her ride that ride again that I will forever have to sleep with one eye open. I don't know what the heck I was thinking. It was nice and air conditioned, but I think I would rather take the September heat. The ride is never ending when you aren't stuck. When you are....Oh my!

I get the fear of Summit Plummet (though I love it!), as it is seriously intense! I think it's the best view in all of WDW from the top of those stairs! You sure will get the ultimate wedgie from it though.

Never rode RnRC until Oct 2013 when DH and I were on a sans kiddo trip and he convinced me to give it a try. I love EE and BTM so I thought, why not. All I ever heard, over the years, was how it starts off so fast. So, all through the line I am worrying about this but I soldier on and get on. There I am white knuckling it when the count down begins...but the ride doesn't go. Count down again and still it doesn't go. Full on panic but I don't want to pass out or have heart attack so I try to breathe and calm myself. Then off we go. It wasn't that bad actually and I rode it again on our next trip. The 2nd time, though, I didn't like the odd pressure feeling in my neck/chest...so I have since skipped it (got all the way through line, last trip, but bailed out at the last minute).

I have never rode Mission Space or Tower of Terror. Probably won't ever.

AT US, I had to work hard not to actually throw up on the HP castle simulator ride. Could not wait to get off and go outside. DH and kids were all happy and talking about how great it was while I was green in the face. Second trip I skipped that one.

Mine is Soarin'. My family went on it lots of times every trip, and my DD kept saying - Come on Mom, it's fine, just close your eyes if you feel dizzy. Just as background, I have to close my eyes during the Aladdin scene in Mickey's Philharmagic.

Well, the first scene is the Golden Gate Bridge. Have I mentioned I have a phobia on bridges? So that was it, I started losing it and never recovered. I spent the rest of the ride with my eyes closed, occasionally squinting them open but having to close them quickly. I think if my feet weren't hanging free, I would have felt okay, but that sensation of being up in the air combined with the movement and swooping, really made it unbearable.

So, we got off and I walked towards the restroom. My DD said "So, how was it?" at which time I sat down on a bench and cried uncontrollably for about 15 minutes. Just an overwhelming emotional reaction.

So, absolutely never again.

"areas where no chlorinated water should ever be"... "the wedgie of all wedgies is formed"

OMG LOL!!!! laughing so hard I might pee my pants!!!!

I can feel your pain. When we were last on Mission Space, they closed the doors but the ride didn't start immediately. I am claustrophobic in tight spaces, and since I'm tall it felt really tight. If the ride had just started right away I'd probably been ok, but the extra five minute wait put me over the edge, and I pretty much hyperventilated for the actual ride, so don't even ask what the screen showed, I didn't retain any of the mission. After the ride we had to sit down for quite awhile before I could move on to World Showcase.

When I went back to MK about 5 years ago with my brother, my first ride was Space Mountain which I went on by myself (he didn't want to go on it), I remembered liking it before. This was after they redid the ride, and either it's a lot rougher than before or it's darker than before and you can't prepare for what's coming at all anymore. I felt a bit queasy for a bit afterwards. Although I liked the references to Horizons at the end, I haven't been back on since. So we've done just the arcade there since then, he was disappointed when I told him that that was gone now (still don't get why they couldn't have just kept the standard video games)

Noone in my family/relatives has been on Tower of terror and we don't plan to

I can only imagine the look on the CMs face when he saw your boy exiting the ride! lol. I can totally relate to the random nosebleeds. I have a couple of kids who get random nosebleeds. It's always in the back of my mind that they could have one at any time, no matter how inopportune. Good news is the frequency has decreased significantly the older they get. :)

Ok, this is embarrassing but here goes...last week we were in Epcot. DH and DS's love Mission Space. DD not so much. Her and I had not ridden it in years. This year she decided she wanted to give it another go. I remember not loving the experience (green) because tight spaces aren't my thing. While in line I kept hearing the warnings. DD now 11 was excited so I didn't give it too much thought. Until they shut the door on that tuna can :scared1::scared1:. What the heck was I thinking quickly enters my mind. DD is excitedly chirping away. 'Isn't this fun mom?' Oh yes I manage to eek out. Now my heart is racing and I can't catch my breath. That stupid air blowing in my face is not helping. :rotfl2:. I am in full blown panic attack, I can laugh now. I am on the end and gently rapping on the door. I am caught between not wanting to ruin DD's experience and not wanting an unsuspecting cast member to find my limp body at the end. When my knocks of terror went unnoticed I decided it best to clench my eyes shut, pray to the dear Lord for mercy and go to my happy place ( all the while answering my daughters million questions and hitting my button at the appropriate time). I'm proud to tell the tale- I lived through it and will never ride it again :rotfl: What was you're worst ride experience and why?

Same ride...virtually the same experience. Only difference was it was DS not DD. Nowadays DW gets to ride mission space with him while DS4 and I get ice cream.
