Praying for you and your sweet little:angel: prince!
I pray that the surgery went well and you will soon be able to take him home.

Well yesterday was a long drawn out day, but it all ends up good for those that wait. I think I paraphrased something there, but it seams to fit.

His surgery ended up being postponed about two hours for an emergency appendectomy, but after Naomi and I had the chance to hold him for awhile and grab a bite to eat, they were ready to proceed when we got back in the NICU.

After speaking with the surgeon, anesthiast, the RN’s and everyone else who had an opinion or idea, they wheeled him into surgery about 1:00cst. For the next four hours Naomi and I were sustained with half hour phone calls of everything was going as planned. The plan was to go in and remove his old scar tissue, re-connect the surface pieces and clean up the inside.

We were told this could take anywhere from two to four hours and they went the distance. When meeting with the surgeon, we were told that they had to dissect two additional pieces that were narrowing in his bowels and sew up three additional holes that were made during surgery when they were snipping pieces that had grown together. He also had two parts that had actually grown together, opened a hole and were passing substance through. This is called a Fistula and they repaired that as well.

He came back into the NICU wide eyed and we all gathered around to look at his “flat” belly. We now pray that the wound will heal properly, and that he won’t “pop” again. That all the connections will stay strong and clear and we won’t ever have to go back in again.

They plan to start feeding this weekend and we now have to work him off of the assisted oxygen again, but this was all planned and is acceptable. It may take a day or two to get him off the Ventilator again.

I would like thank his Doctor’s and Nurses at Cook Children’s for their continued support of our child, they do a fine job and I don’t think we could get any better.

Overall it was a great day, we did get to spend some time with him again before picking up Mya and heading home, were we both just crashed.

This morning we were told he was wearing his new Camo outfit and is getting a little help from Morphine and Versed again, but that is to be expected. This was a battle and everyone needs a little help after such a procedure.

For all those that continue to lift up my Son and Family in prayer we thank you. We know and understand that everything that has happened is due to the will of God and we thank him that he has heard our prayers.

I look forward to writing of the day we get to room in and take our baby home.

We will post new pictures this evening hopefully.

Aww, Rome! That is WONDERFUL news!! I too can't wait to hear the news of you and Naomi finally being able to take your sweet son home with you. And I can't wait for pictures!!! Don't forget!!

Not to rob you of your thread, but Palm just had her baby today!! I know you would want to know, Rome. All is well, and I got to hold a beautiful little GIRL in my arms this morning. It was heaven! princess:

That is absolutely Great news, Rome!
Still sending my prayers your way in the hopes that you'll get to bring him home with you soon! :goodvibes

Pink: Congratulations! Aren't nieces great?!! :goodvibes
I know you're happy to finally have a girl in the family! All my best to Palm and her family!

Well check out who is getting better:

So they say our boy will be a strict formula child tomorrow and then on to a bottle in the next few days. He is also quickly being removed from the high flow oxygen. It looks like Father's Day in my opinion might not be such a stretch.

They started giving him his heart medication orally today and it looks like after tomorrow they will stop with all of his feedings via his central line. This means that by the weekend, he may have his two main central lines removed (or at least no longer needed and just left for emergency needs) and that would only leave the feeding and nasal canula with those hopefully following soon.

I finally posted a few new pictures, so check out his wound picture, it's amazing and has made one member of the family quite jealous.
