We're in a 1-bedroom with a view of the quiet pool and an extra long balcony. Had some problems with a leaky washer, but they fixed it ASAP.

Noticed that some idiot has been driving a golf cart into the grass by the bridge that goes over the canal, next to the quiet pool. He's been doing it when it's wet and now there's huge ruts in the ground. Looks terrible.

Slightly annoyed about the access fee for the internet. Also, the ethernet cable is in the living room, rather than by the desk in the bedroom. I have to wedge a chair between the pullout couch and the window. Also had to pull the couch out to get access to the outlet. Somebody wasn't thinking when they put this thing in.

Good trip so far. Been taking it easy. Our P&P Party was a mess, rained the entire time. They put on an abbreviated version of the parade, but the fireworks went off and they were very good.

The AKL rooms are really beautiful. Got a peek into the mystery room across the hallway. Appears to be storage, but I only saw a peak. :confused3

Looks as if they've been busy at CR. Had several low-level employees tell me that was the new DVC. We'll see.

Wireless would solve the internet problem....

Have a great stay.

Slightly annoyed about the access fee for the internet.

Have the changed the fee structure? It used to be a flat fee for a 24 hour period. Is there something else in place now?

I think the fee is something we need to bring up in the meetings or by everyone sending a email in support of free internet for dvc members. There is something wrong when you can stay in a fleebag cheap hotel for $29 or $39 dollars outside on 192 and get free internet but a room worth $350 dollars you have to pay.I think we need another perk:banana:

In the closet they have a cable that I think is longer then the one in the wall.

This is not unusual. High end hotels around the world charge for Internet access. The compettition in the mid and low range hotels is very aggressive so they've had to offer benefits of free internet to keep up.

For me I like escaping and not having free Internet helps with that.

Glad to hear your trip is going well so far.:thumbsup2

Isn't the internet jack between the couch and dining table? It has been in that location in every 1 or 2 BCV villa we've had. We just sit at the table.:confused3 I too would prefer it to be located by the desk in the MBR but understand that it is more centrally located in the LR.

This is why I signed up for free dial up internet and just dial into the local reedy creek number and can connect to phone in the bedroom. It is slower but the price is right and I really don't need more than 10 hours total while at WDW to check emails.

Could you give more details about this? We would like to be able to check on our flight schedule for changes and emails while there, but we don't need a lot of time online.

I was going to say the same thing. I also wished that the internet connection was in the bedroom near the desk. But I found the connection between the sleeper sofa and the dining room table to plug in the computer. There was something by the table in the corner of the room by the sleeper sofa (opposite side of the sofa), but not the main connection.

I know an internet access fee is annoying considering the amount paid for accommodations, but paying 4.50 for a coke is a lot more aggravating to me!

I'm glad these things only bother me after my trip is over.

That's been a problem for a long time, for a while they had some hugh rocks placed right along the walk, but they removed them recently, probably because kids were getting hurt on then. I believe it's CMs to lazy to wait for guests to walk by so they drive on the grass. If I saw it happen I would definitely report whoever it was. It does look terrible.

can you please do me a favor and ask Art if he's planning on working Nov 9th? Tell him Barbara (the girl who's bday is right before his) is asking. I saw him last time Aug 17th.
I'll make a special trip over to see him - found something I would like to give him
I know he'll be on vacation the 12th-16 right before his birthday

thank you

I travel a good bit for work and being in IT I can't afford to be without internet. The solution I have used for about a year now has worked perfectly for me. For many trips I use a Sprint EVDO card. Although not cheap (is this the budget board?), I even get high speed in the car so I can work while the wife is driving (we live in Atlanta so we most often drive).

The second option is a portable travel router. I use a linksys which can be found here

Plug it in, plug the cable into it and go work or play wherever you want.

yep! That travel router is awesome! I am the hero in my family since I found out about it here on the DIS!!!:thumbsup2

No, it's still the 24-hour for $9.95 structure. Pretty steep IMHO.

I think we need another perk.

I agree.

Yes, I've since found that one, and it is an improvement over the one behind the end table. Thanks.

I saw a maintence worker do it from our balcony. We've had a lot rain and the ruts are just mud now. DH thinks they're doing it do avoid getting the concrete walkway dirty. :confused3

If I see him downstairs when we go out for lunch I'll ask him.

This sounds interesting. Thank you. :thumbsup2

Got up at 4:45 am today to make a 5:45 show time at Typhon Lagoon for the surfing class--yes, we're nuts. I took pictures and DH & DS had a blast.

It's extremely hot here and it's very draining. We can only take a few hours in the heat and then it's time for a rest. I really wish we could go more in the off season.

They're laying the new carpet outside my door right now. I'll try and post some pictures. It's lovely.

So glad to know they're replacing the carpet. It was definitely getting worn. Thanks for the pic! :goodvibes

access fees still apply though right?

Absolutely... this just makes it so you aren't tethered to the table or trying to find a place to set the laptop comfortably. It was great at OKW. Plugged it in over by the sofa, set my laptop up in the bedroom.

Agreed... DVC is behind the times when it comes to wireless or I connections. Glad all else is going well.... Have a great trip :beach:
