Those are the most awesome pictures of Alicia. I love her hair color. She looks absolutely gorgeous. We may have to make a trip to Albuquerque so we can find a good photographer:goodvibes

Question for all of you in photography ... or anyone else that wants to pipe in ... what do we wear for family portraits this year? The photographer has a white background. Two years ago we all wore white shirts with blue jeans. Last year we wore blue shirts with khakis. Any suggestions for this year? I've got 1 week to pull something together.

Angie

Conventional wisdom suggests that the cloths take a backseat to the scene from the people. Like you did the last times, you want contrasting colors with the background (so you don't blend in), not clashing with each other and a solid color scheme that looks good on all, or most of the group.

If the background is white, the photographer may be doing a "high key" lighting. Which has the background and the clothing white or very light colors so all of the that blends in and the faces show very contrasty.

Talk to the photographer to see what they have in mind. Then make them do what you want........ :rolleyes1

The problem is that this is a fundraiser for the school. It is a local photographer so I guess I could call. The photographer sets up one backdrop on the cafetorium stage and does the sittings there. It's usually pretty quick too. They typically snap 9 photos and you're done - 3 of the family, 3 of the kids and 3 of the parents. We pay $25 and get an 11x14 canvas. $20 goes directly to the school. Of course, the photographer is banking that you'll purchase extra photos, which we always do.

In English, please???

I was going to say to wear RED, but I'm guessing from what you're saying that would be the wrong color choice??

Seriously, Angie, I was thinking jeans or slacks and all red shirts/sweaters. You're going to use them for Christmas cards, right? But not if Kevin is saying that's too bright a color.....

Absolutely stunning pictures of Alicia!!

Also looked at a lot of the others. Are the two little girls the grandbabies?

Yes, the pic of the two little girls sharing Dippin' Dots was at the zoo. The one on the right is DGD Jalyn. Those were her Dippin' Dots, and she plopped right down with Zoe to share. So sweet, I told Alicia that Jalyn shares food better than she does!

And I wish we'd had a video camera. Zoe is only 2, and her attempts to get those dots of ice cream in her mouth were pretty hilarious.

The camel ride shot has a story too. Kevin and Alicia went to visit when Jalyn was about 20 months. They went to a Renaissance Faire, and Alicia took Jalyn on a camel ride. When told they were coming to Albuquerque to visit Auntie 'Licia, she asked "are we going to ride the camel?" So when we saw the camel at the zoo, they had to do it!

At the end of the class the instructor handed out flyers for auditions for The Nutcracker. I would love for Emily to do it but then when I added up all of the costs, there is no way! It's a $15 audition fee, $15 costume rental fee .. not bad so far ... but then, parents are required to purchase 5 tickets at $15 each, then there is another fee of $175 for the practices. No thanks ... at least not this year. I guess if she continues with the dance as the years go on, then we'll just have to suck it up and hand over the $.

Ang

We did the Nutcracker for several years, several different versions. I hated it. The cost, the rehearsals, the TECH rehearsals, the numerous performances down at the University etc. Alicia loved it. I might suggest you wait until she is older though, and maybe actually taking ballet. She is likely to get a better part or two and be on stage longer. Then you would enjoy it more!

Denim shirts, matching t-shirts. Blue is always good, rose red looks grand too.

Edited to say, OK, what he said. One of my favorite shots of Alicia and I is done with denim shirts though.

Oh yay, it would be a blast to see you guys! If photography will get people to come visit us, I'm all for it!

I like khaki's with jewel tone shirts -- everyone in a different color -- not bright colors more muted and rich looking.

We definitely want to come up to ABQ some weekend for a little getaway. It will have to be after November because that is when Marching Season ends. We have 2 swimmeets in November, so who knows. We will keep you posted

Busy day for us today ... soccer games for each of the girls & a birthday party. Somewhere in there I need to clean house. Guess I better go do that now.

Hope everyone has a great Saturday!

Stacey, I like your new "do." The question is...do you have to "do" anything with it to get it to look like that? My hairdresser keeps letting my hair grow out...
and it looks like &@^#)$. I complain about it and she says, "well, you have to DO something with it every day. 10 minutes with a blowdryer and a curling iron....."

But I don't WANT hair that needs a blowdryer and curling iron!! (sigh)

I can so relate. You have got to be my long lost sister (but I know you would never admit to being related to anyone from Michigan). I am hoping at some point I will like my hair again, right now . . . .

Ditto on the need for maintenance free hair!!! I am getting bored, don't know how long I will tolerate growing it out, though.

I have had my hair short (and shorter) for about 8 years, before that it was just above the shoulders, all one length...hot, thick and heavy...

Everybody having a nice weekend??

I played "Tom Sawyer" and "Cinderella" today. John showed me how to strip the bathroom wallpaper, and after an hour I traded wallpaper for scrubbing tile. He couldn't resist an "I told you I would end up stripping wallpaper" when he took over the job...
