Animal Kingdom Villas Questions

No, for example I purchased points in Unit 35 back in Feb and the villas in that Unit didn't open until Sep 1st, 6 months after I purchased.

I stayed in your unit, Lisa! Room 5465 was the 1BR portion of Unit 35. We did take pics, but they are on my other computer. I'll send you some pics!

Cool!! Yes, please post your photos! Some of us have a long wait until our first stay at AKV so it helps to see everybody's photos in the meantime. I've never stayed in that part of AKL so I'm curious what your view was like.

So the concierge rooms don't open til December right? Sorry I have a few more questions. I know my guide said there were going to be cameras outside on the balcony, does that mean cameras even in the pool view and parking view? I know at AK there are no straws and lids, is that the same at the resort?
Yes, the concierge rooms are scheduled to open on Dec 1st. I don't know the answer to your camera question but I can confirm that you cannot have straws or lids in AKV. I believe they also do not allow balloons.

I just returned from 1 night at the AKV in a STD View Studio. On the balcony door, there was a sign about camera usage and pulling your drapes if you want privacy. I didn't notice any cameras so the notice could be on all the doors.

Just got back from a few days at the AKL Villas - 1 Bedroom and I have to tell you DH and I were so impressed. They were absolutely beautiful. The decor was amazing, the dining room table was really gorgeous. The appliances are state of the art - 2 drawer dishwasher, Maytag washer/dryer that were so fast! Also flat screen TVs that had awesome pictures. Another neat thing is right next to the number on your door they have the little DVC emblem - very nice touch - let me know if any questions. We go back for a week in Dec to a 1bdrm - can't wait!

Would someone be able to tell give me an idea of where my room could be? We have a SV studio booked for April 8-12! This will be our first time there- And I am so excited! You guys seem like pros on this- Thanks for your help.

If by "SV" you mean Savanna View, all of Jambo House will be open by that time so your room could be almost anywhere. The Savanna View studios are distributed throughout the resort so your room could be anywhere there is a hallway that faces a savanna except at the very end of each hallway because that is where the GVs are located.

If by SV you mean Standard View, then your studio will face the pool area.

alleluia5,

was there 1 or 2 bathrooms in your 1 bedroom?

thanks!......mark

I know you asked alleluia5, but I can answer your question since I also stayed in a 1BR earlier this month. There is only one bathroom in the 1BRs in Jambo House. The Kidani Village rooms will have a second bathroom once the resort opens.

Do the 1 bedrooms in Jambo have whirlpool tubs?

AKV 10/20-10/26 Birthday Trip!

Thanks Lisa! I might try to call MS tomorrow and see if there are any 1 bedrooms available. ;)

On Ostrich Trail, one side does face the Sunset Savanna (which is closed because of the Kidini Village construction), but the other side has parking lot views.
Are you saying that the Sunset Savannah is closed during the whole construction of Kidani Village? I have a concierge studio reserved for August 2008 and have requested a Savannah View. Does this mean that this would not have any view of the animals at that time?

Lisa, I plan to book a GV for November 2008. I have been reading that Jambo House has a combined tub/shower. We will need a roll in shower for DS. Will we be able to get a H/C bath in the Jambo House GV? If not are any of the concierge room's(2br)H/C with roll in shower. Also will any new studio's be released by December 30th of this year. I'm on a waitlist. This visit will not require H/C room. Thanks Susan

I had dinner at Boma on Oct 10th. I saw animals on the Sunset Savanna, and there were people staying in rooms on the lower floors facing that savanna so it is not closed. The 5th floor of the Kudu trail is closed off (the rooms on one side of that trail face the Sunset Savanna) so maybe that is what the OP meant?

You should give MS a call to ask about this. Currently only three of the six Jambo House GVs are open (the rest should be open by Jan 29, 2008) and not much has been posted about them. MS should know how many of them are/will be HA and how the rooms are set up.

I have no idea. They plan to have all of Jambo House open by Jan 29, 2008 but they don't publish a breakdown of the number of rooms expected to be available along the way.

LISA... you must be a human sponge... or you are a Disney covert. I can't get over how much knowledge you have to share...

I still :worship: you.

If you saw animals over on Sunset Savanna, that is a change from early September when I was there. There were signs in the Sunset Overlook saying that the Sunset Savanna was closed and that the animals had been relocated to the Arusha & Uzima Savannas. I could see the Kidini Village construction from there, so I assumed that while construction was going on, the animals had been relocated.

It also seemed that the Zebra & Giraffe Trail rooms were more occupied by guests than the Ostrich & Kudu Trail rooms, because when we checked out the Sunset Overlook & Arusha Rock Savanna Overlooks at night, we saw few lights on in the rooms.

Perhaps my observations were off-base... :confused3

There is a lot going on in that area both in that wing of the Lodge building and with the construction of the new building. Perhaps they needed to do something that they felt could be stressful to the animals so they closed that savanna for a period of time and then reopened it once that work was completed.
