DDA Chapter 4

Thanks. The food was good but the place was noisy. We were put in the back banquet room where there were several large groups, like the 'after work get-togethers.' But I'm sure the tables out in the bar area would have been just as bad. We found out half-way through our dinner that Constantine from a previous American Idol year was playing there that night.

I saw that when we ate there last Sunday. I didn't know that was the night you were going to be there. I bet that did make it noisy. We went one night during Oktoberfest and left because it was a bit boisterous. But think of all that action coming into F'burg! I don't think they are planning a music hall in our location, but the activity will be nice and the place will be open 7 days a week until after midnight. A nice change!!

That may be viral. I broke out my inhaler one day last week and I haven't needed it in years (I can't believe that I still have it).

Good to know. I'll watch out for something else to break out. I haven't needed an inhaler regularly since I stopped taking my migraine medicine (the culprit in starting the asthma to begin with). For the last 5 years I've needed it for a few weeks at the heigh of summer humidity and on some really really cold days when I'd be walking in Boston. An average temperature day is unheard of for it so having an issue the last couple of days surprised me.

Packing was done. It was an ordeal - everything for both of us is in one rolling carryon and a tote! ;)

I'll be back late Tuesday. I better get going - I have a cat that wants my lap before we leave.

Bye!

Have a great time!!

Man, that was a night! Someone had me up almost every hour starting at 1 and ending with the total give up point of 6. It was Terra once, Connor once, Chase twice, Kassie once and the stupid blowup bed with its squeaking several times. I'm so calling Kristi and letting her know that the overnight portion will now cost her one caffine-laden beverage when she's headed this way.

Now to decide whether I'm making it to church. It was the plan, but I'm thinking a nap and getting the kitchen cleaned up before Mom gets home from camp may be the best idea. We'll see what the caffine does to help.

Gotta go dress the kids for church. Catch you later!

I had to add a new ticker...It was driving me crazy not to see how many days left. I like the one that shows days rather than months though. Hope that site comes back up.

It looks like I'm all alone here right now, I learned how to do a new background on photoshop so here's a design I came up with it. DH will never wear this one, :lmao:

Cute design! I'm glad Brandon is feeling better! :goodvibes

Yay for cruising! Today is our 5 month mark, which doesn't sound all that great!:rotfl2:

DH brought the mail in a minute ago and today we have Entertainment Weekly, addressed to the same guy! :headache: We have lived here for 4.5 years! What is up with this guy? It isn't like he JUST moved out! And I didn't get any sort of card on this one so he is on his own!

Today marks what we hope is one year for us getting back, so I think your 5 months sounds great! ;)

It's too weird that your getting his subscriptions now, after so long.... very strange.

Quick break, but back to cleaning! The good news - my little doggie has had a very good day! :yay:

Hooray! I hope she continues feeling better!

so i decided today, march 1 was my deadline to start exercising and getting in shape..i start kickboxing classes next week..tonight my friend let me borrow a billy blanks dvd..i did 30 min of it...was tough but i think ill be okay--at least i hope! but i was proud of myself for doing it!

Good for you! I have a friend that adores kickboxing. I did it once or twice before we switched gyms, and I didn't love it --- but I tell you what, it absolutely gives you maybe one of the best workouts I've ever had! I hope you enjoy it!

That's like the "Terra" poster I got at DL where her name is spelled out with artsy Princesses. I just bought it matted thinking it would be easier to get home and cheaper to buy a frame, but I have yet to find one that fits. It think that I'll just have to buy the pieces and put it together myself.

We are looking at doing that for our nursery prints, but it seems like so much work to get the cardboard, glass, etc cut as well. Michael's has "do it yourself" frames (2-piece sets where you just by one set of the vertical length wood and 1 of the horizontal). It seemed like such a hassle, and not a great price. Let me know if you figure something else out.

Our Kinkade prints are all a bit off in size, so we have always had to get them custom framed. I feel a lot better justifying such an expense though, for an expensive piece of work. I can't see myself custom framing something that cost so little to begin with.... and also, I want a REALLY simple frame for the nursery prints and everything custom is so much more elaborate!

Anyone familiar with Chicago...where is US Cellular Field (White Sox)? It is accessible by train or other public transport, right?

Would I be able to either fly into Midway or arrive via Amtrak, find a decently priced hotel and get to US Cellular Field all via public transportation, preferrably train? If I stayed in that general vicinity would it be adviseable on my own? Any worse than the times I stayed in Boston or NYC on my own?

The other day I was formulating an idea to get away on my own for a couple of days. The Red Sox play in Chicago in August so I'm thinking about going up on Fri or Sat morning and coming back the next evening. I could do Amtrak pretty cheaply or would watch for cheap Southwest flights. Look for a good hotel rate and just go to the game and maybe a little sightseeing.

It may not happen in part because 1) convincing my husband of the idea will be hard, but 2) Terra and I may go to CA in July. Another old playgroup friend will be in town there in July and we're talking about having a reunion. It so happens that it will be the same week that the Sox play in Anaheim so I could get my Red Sox fix, Disney fix and friends fix all in one swoop, plus Terra would get to see her grandparents, aunt/uncles, etc.

I would love if that happened for you, what a fun trip! I don't know specifics, (exactly what route, etc) but I'm sure it can be done. I have never flown into midway, but from O'Hare you can always get hotel transport or public transport to your hotel, and then really get anywhere that close to central chicago by public transport. We have even stayed in the suburbs without a car, and gotten everywhere we wanted to go. The Cell is in Amour Town (south chicago)... I think it might be the red line but certainly look into that before going! :rotfl: I don't know if I personally would stay there, or if I'd stay a bit out of south chicago (by myself anyway) and just go there for the game. I certainly would feel safe just going to the game though, because right around the stadium is not as bad. (Especially if you could get a day game).

Good luck, I hope someone else can provide you with a better answer! :goodvibes

Well one of my best friends from high school came over tonight and we just sat around and talked..it was a nice relaxing night!
I think im headed to bed--tomorrow is going to be a lowkey day--im looking forward to it!

Sounds like a fun night! I need a relaxing day, too. I was planning on going outside (it's supposed to be in the 50's today (for one day only), so I want to enjoy it). I also have a ton of stuff I need to get done around here, but I am not sure what the plans are now. I really need to stay in and relax after a long day yesterday, but now my accounts manager at work wants to meet me somewhere just to pick up a stupid key he should have of his own  It's not a big deal in and of itself, but it means I'll have to get out of my pajamas and look presentable enough to leave my own house! :rotfl:

Yikes! I hope you are able to get a nap today!

I prefer the v50 ones as well, but it's a bit frustrating at the end of every month when they disappear! :) I love those tickers though, I was just going to comment on Tia's. How cute!

I think the v50 tickers should be back up by the end of the week.

Ann Marie I didn't read the link you posted, but wanted to say, the trip this past Jan. I took enough throwaway cups for everyone and no one came home sick this time.

Have a great trip, Chanon!

Check out this link...:scared: I always bring lysol wipes but I am also bringing plastic cups this time too...

We bring those pre-soaped dishwashing wipes. I don't even think they make them now, but we bought a big container of them for our 2nd trip and we still haevn't used them all. I ended up cutting the wipes into smaller pieces because they are SOO soapy you don't need a whole wipe just to wash a few cups and the coffee maker. We wash the coffee maker and then use our refillable mugs for our coffee. Those black mugs at Disney are impossible to tell if they are clean!:scared:

I think I'm even more happy that we are taking our camper!!!

Yikes! I hope you are able to get a nap today!

Me too! We're going out for dinner sometime today for Dad's birthday. Unfortuantely, of all the Mexican places he mentioned he decided on the one that I don't care for. :upsidedow Oh well, it limits how much I eat, I guess.

Thanks for the Chicago advice. It looks like Amtrak comes in close to the Loop area. I've been in that area before so may look to stay somewhere around there. Then, there was a train line that goes straigh from the Amtrak station to the field. Of course, I looked at game prices yesterday and they are tiered by game type as well as section. The Red Sox plus a weekend make this a premiere game (read: most expensive). To compare, the upper reserved are $8.50 at their cheapest and $31 for this game. Um, I'm thinking for just a bit more I'll splurge on some good seats if I have to spend that much.

Vicki just called. Chuck was in the background giving me the nana nana boo boo we're in Disney taunt :lmao: Their first flight was delayed by 2 hours, thankfully they had a 2 1/2 hour delay before the second flight so they made it in time. The second flight was slightly delayed and they arrived only a few minutes late. The weather is nice with highs in the 70's and low's in the 50's. They have done Tusker House and AK, Earl of Sandwich and Downtown Disney and a bit of Epcot with Le Cellier. They are having a great trip and everyone is feeling much better. The girls were sleeping in this morning and Vicki and Chuck were doing some park hoping picking up the lithographs and doing a bit of shopping. They plan to hit MK this afternoon and evening. She said the litographs are a bit trickier than they expected as they are trying to limit it to one lithograph per household per day. She said they have all 4 Epcot ones and are working on the others. She said that she and Chuck are enjoying park hopping for that purpose and just spending time together  She'll try to pop in sometime today.

Thanks for the update Deb. I am so jealous of them!!!

Vicki - it is so sweet of you to spend your vacation getting the lithographs, especially if it is not easy! If you are running into difficulty, please don't put yourself out for me. Enjoy the time with your family!!!

I'm off to my MIL but wanted to post this site that a coworker says is great. It lets you upload a photo of your artwork to pick out a frame. She said she's had good luck with them. I think I'll give it a try for my print.

I'll catch up when I get home.

Deb - Thanks for the update! I'm glad Vicki & family are having a good time!:goodvibes

I've got my first load of jeans in the dryer, and DS's mattress pad is in the wash. Once I get his bed back together I'll start on ours. I should have done ours first, because as soon as DH gets home he will get IN our bed. I guess I will have to put a different set of sheets on our bed instead of leaving the bed naked until those sheets are finished. Then I will try Robyn's trick of shoving the clean sheets into a pillow case and tossing them into the closet. :rotfl2:

This Greece poster is going to take until midnight. :headache: I swear DS can not comprehend and follow verbal directions.
