Hi everyone,

We are looking forward to meeting many of you on the ship this coming September!

One of our favorite events on the ship is Pirate Night. Does anyone know what night of the the cruise Pirate Night will be for the WB Transatlantic?

Thanks!

Welcome to the cruise. Lots of people have been planning for a long time for this vacation/hoilday for all of us.
Join in on the planned events that intrest you... will be fun.

Connie - yes, you have to be a member. We are members but live in California as well so can't get them here! I've heard they don't have them in FL right now either but I'm not sure how true that is. People have listed finding them on places like New York, New Jersey and South Carolina. Seems random. I wish you could just order them off their website!

Jackie - thanks!!

If anyone runs into some please PM me asap! Thanks so much!

Not sure when you'll be on again....I'll check tomorrow. I'm going shopping, so I'll beo ut. I'll check Connie

Thought we may as well jump in. My wife Shanna and I will be leaving on 9/15 and staying at Le Meridien. We are in 6128 on the Magic. Looking forward to seeing all of you.

WELCOME to the cruise!:cool1::cool1:

We're neighbors! Where in UT?I have tons of family still in the SL area.
We're from AZ. And we'll also be staying at the Le Meridien.

Annie:laundy:

Welcome to all newbies :thumbsup2

I'm not getting much time to catch up with the boards at the moment but never cease to be amazed when I do log on to how much I have missed :rotfl2:

Sometimes its good to have a bit of insomnia :rotfl:

Four weeks today will be my last day at work before heading off to Barcelona

Looking forward to meeting everyone,

Dawn

Oops, almost forgot. THEY ARE HERE!!

I'm happy to say WE GOT OUR DOCS! They came in the regular snail mail and were dated 8/16. :confused3

No Fedex for us yet .......but on a positive note .....

WE ARE NOW INTO THE 20s !!!!!!!

and suddenly I am feeling a lot more :scared1: than :woohoo:

( although I am more than a little bit :yay: even so)

I know just what you mean!

Another box ticked .... just ordered some euros for Barcelona / Madeira and some US dollars. Second formal dress has arrived so I just need to try it on.
Getting there slowly but surely but still feel :scared1:

I went to our bank earlier to ask about euros, and the woman quoted me some prices for the bank to supply them. Then, in a whisper, she said we'd probably be better off buying them in the airport (which I know has been suggested before). So I think that's what we'll do. I don't think we'll need much since we are coming in the day of the cruise and we're using Disney transport.

Some more medical issues.....this group is kind of scary....my DD was admitted to the hospital yesterday....she has a viral infection in her intestine and a serious infection in her colon....they were trying to treat it with antibiotics by mouth but it is beating her up so they put her in the hospital....doctor said she is pretty sick and will be in the hospital through the weekend.....it seems so many of us traveling have some sort of medical problem or tragedy in our lives.....thank God I do not drink......and thank God it is happening now and not 5 weeks from now since she will be staying here and taking care of the house and the pets......
Tom

P&PD that everything goes well for your daughter. There is nothing quite so scary as having a child in the hospital. :grouphug:

That's very cool - I'm waaaay to disorganised for that. Tho' I did manage to co-ordinate my cardigan with my champagne cocktail at the Palo brunch last September...

DSCF1415-1.jpg

And a job well done! Looks tasty, too.

The sailaway party started in the afternoon, we were at late sitting for dinner and had a window seat in PC and we left port as we ate.

Definitely recommend getting the lobster tails and combining it with the venison on Captain's Gala night for the poshest surf and turf I've had. We have all of the menus photo'ed and can post them if people want to see them.

We did Palo a couple of times and the soufflé is as good as ever :P

I'm a menu addict and I'd love to see what you've got if at all possible. TIA.

Some personnal info about me - I haven't been on the Disboardsmuch and I know there are old friends (not age wise) that we are looking forward to seeing and making new friends. My mom had Alzheimer's and my DD spent the alot of time with her and watching her especially when I was at work. I got married on the Disney Wonder :bride: one year ago, May 22. Even though everyone said my mom shouldn't go with us, I took her and she was so happy to be at my wedding. In October, DD and I took her with us on a 7 day Magic cruise and she loved it. She was on the last Transatlantic:sail: cruise with us. Anyway, at the age of 92, she passed away on :sad:my first anniversary. :sad1: Then in June, my retina detache:cool2:d and I had emergency surgery and during this time, I booked this cruise and wasn't sure if my doctor would let me travel.:confused3 I got the go ahead. Yesterday I had laser surgery on my good eye to correct some problems that could led to a detached retina in my good eye. We usually go to the MNSSHH but we can't this year because I can't miss more time from work and I'm scheduled for cataract surgery on my bad eye since the retina surgery created a cataract. Anyway, if anyone has any eye problems, don't put it off. Make a doctor's appointment right away and don't play with your eyes. The sight you save can be your own. Okay, enough with the bad stuff.

So as you can see, we had a rough year. I can't begin to tell you how much we are looking forward to and excited to be going on this cruise:banana:. Just want to hang out with people, enjoy our 14th Disney cruise, can't wait to have the drink of the day (everyday:drinking1 ), celebrate our September birthdays and just have an awesome time
Bev:)

You deserve a wonderful cruise! I'm glad all is going well w/your eyes.
I got 2 Fedex packages today, 1 our cruise documents arrived and 2 my 2010 DVC planner FINALLY turned up

Yay for you! But where the heck has your planner been? :confused3

Thought we may as well jump in. My wife Shanna and I will be leaving on 9/15 and staying at Le Meridien. We are in 6128 on the Magic. Looking forward to seeing all of you.

Welcome to the crew!

:scared1:Hello All!
Late night check in.

So sorry for everyone having a rough time. I home all your loved ones will be home safe and healthy soon.:grouphug:

We (my DH, DS, and I) got our docs yesterday. Our Daughters have not arrived. Maybe they mail out docs to castaway members first???

I borrowed a laminator from work and have been working on magnets and dry errase boards for our family. Our DD's havent a clue what is going on, and I am going to town on their door. they will Love it or Hate it...kinda hard to tell with a couple of 20 somethings. Courtney is a Professional Photgrapher and Carolyne works for Anthropologie. I think they are secretly excited about the ship, but ....are keeping to themselves:confused3

Almost done packing , my husband is next then the suitcase I worry about the most....our ship gear. gifts ,magnets, books to share, etc

Off to check my "grey" Must make appointment soon....

To all our new dis-Cruise-Mates :dance3::dance3:Welcome! Please go to our web site (First Post) and add your info on our rool call.

Night all

I think I'm about to show my age here, but … I bought my first Mac in 1985 for over $5,000. It had a huge 1 MB of what was then called core storage (RAM), plus an enormous 20 MB of off-line storage (i.e., hard drive)! I've owned nothing but Macs since then – about 10-12 all told, including one of the very first Mac laptops sold. Considering I programmed my first computer in 1959 at the age of 9 years old, and have programmed IBM console mainframes in assembly language, plus a lot of other stuff since then, I vastly prefer the "insanely great" Mac over anything else I've seen (so far). Of course, I gave up programming a long time ago - too much like hard work - and I'm just a semi-educated user now. :)

So, Macintosh: Is there another way? (OK, here comes the "Mac vs. PC" storm. Get ready!) :rotfl:

See You Real Soon!
Richard

No Mac vs PC war but a bit of history from my perspective or a walk down memory lane.

Though we are not Mac people, John and I spent a lot of time with Burrell Smith in the early stages of the MAC design as the PAL device that John invented was used in the early MAC's. We have a very early 1984 MAC in the garage that John carried all over Europe on a sabbatical in early 1985.

John also spent a great deal of time in Boca Raton in the late 1970's and early 1980's with the IBM team lead by Don Estridge, if I remember the name correctly.

He also was very involved with DEC PDP 11 designs in Massachusetts. If you happen to remember the book "The Soul of New Machine" by Tracey Kidder, you might have read about John in the story. Tracey Kidder signed the book to John with the quote, "The socket is no longer empty.

My mother was a mathematician/computer programmer for JPL in the 1950's so I have always been exposed to computers. John worked on computers from his time at UCB.

John wrote an assembly language called PALASM which was used to program the PAL devices.

So, to make a long story short, there is a place for both computers. I just personally don't like Steve Jobs so don't want to support his products. Apple had wonderful products, just not for me.

Just my thoughts....

Thanks to all who have sent kind words and prayers.....amazing what these things do....as well as antibiotics.....she is feeling a little better.....they have been pushing bag after bag of the antibiotics into her.....so again....thanks for t he kind words!
Tom

Glad to hear that your DD is feeling better!!

Oh my! I was off for about 4 days and I came back to over 60 pages!! There's no way I'll be able to read all those. Can anyone let me know if I've missed anything?? We had guests the last few days. Then me and dh took a little 2 night trip to Phoenix today while grandma watches the kids. So, off to bed so I can sit at the pool all by myself!! I know I won't be able to do this on the cruise so I'll soak it up now. :)

DCL isn't giving FSC back DVC is as an OBC so its like getting OBC through a travel agent really.

I got the letter and it does not say on Dan's document.

DCL is right they are not refunding FSC but DVC are and this is where the confussion is coming from.
Aw, I see. Thanks for clarifying that!

Yes, DVC.

The rate shown on the web sites is usually the "bank rate" (bank to bank). They always charge us a worse rate - that's how they make their profit.

Your laptop and cell phone chargers will work fine; you'll still need an adapter though (just not a power converter).
Well, I just realized on the receipt they also added $10 for what- I do not know. I wasn't informed I'd be charged that... so that's their profit, no need to also make the rate higher. Got me both ways apparently. :(

I think I meant adaptor. not converter. I'm not sure. I hadn't thought about it until a friend (whose son just returned from a trip to Europe) offered to let us borrow theirs if we need it... only then did I think about it. I think she probably said adapter. LOL Thanks!

Sitting in Barcelona airport on our way back from our Med cruise. 31 days til we come back. DW (Lorraine) is working an trip report, but anyone got any questions about the ship, entertainment, airport etc?
Yes to all the above.
Oh, you mean more specific questions?
Well I'm curious mostly about what transportation you used in Barcelona and how much and how that went/etc. :)

Oh and here's a question for everyone please.. Um, I thought I needed to make sure the kids had summer-ish clothing that actually fit well (because they are growing like weeds) but then it dawned on me... this trip is not the caribbean and it's slightly later than we normally cruise anyway. So like I went online to look up weather in Barcelona in Sept and it says 72 is the norm?
FOR REALS?
Ohmy we are gonna be freezing -we're used to 100+ degree weather for like... forever now. LOL Or I'm gonna have to pack warmer clothing and that's gonna be hard to pack us all in carryons... eek.
so yeah, is this cruise gonna be in the lower 70's all the way thru? Till we get towards the tail end of the cruise? yes, no? maybe so? Help! What are ya'll packing to wear on a daily basis for the cruise/at ports?

And phooey- looks like no scuba diving for me. Been dealing with sinus and ear issues since April and although I didn't even know anything was wrong in that respect (went in originally with sore throat and hoarseness that wasn't going away- turns out was a side effect of sinusitis) - it was pretty bad and I was running fever without realizing it and everything. So now I've been on all these steroid shots & pills, 2 nasal inhalers (one steroid based), decongestants, anbitiotics for awhile, etc. and again thought I was fine... except for the vertigo when I leaned my head back or when I laid down.
So a check up yesterday and turns out the sinuses are still crap and my ears are still crap- especially the left one. Eustachian (sp?) tube on that side apparently completely clogged and he had me force air to see but on the left side it blew up like a balloon and didn't go back down (ie: the air forced in there couldn't get back out the way it was forced in)
And it looks like more rounds of antibiotics, stay on the same meds, and if not better in 2wks (like that's gonna happen) then I have to go see another dr and get tubes in my ears.
At 41yrs old.
sigh...
AND he thinks I have ear stones? I've never heard of such!
And wants me to do vertigo exercises to help that, that basically consist of rolling around in certain positions? Also never heard of such. Learn something new everyday. LOL

(he did say left ear had a lot of scar tissue and I had a lot of ear infections throughout my childhood that were basically taken care of by aspirin, oil and smoke and stuff put in my ear and law on a couch till it stopped hurting. I didn't see the dr much in my childhood.. that's for sure. I've also had always had to pop my ears a lot when flying -or else have excrutiating pain in both ears upon liftoff and landing)

so yeah. Probably gonna have to cancel scuba diving with the fam. :sad1:
That was really the only excursion I was looking forward to. The rest are all a lot of walking, looking at stuff, etc Which is all fine and good... but we like to do more water active things. LOL

Meanwhile, you're gonna see me at my heaviest weight EVER (even when pregnant with Robert- which is really saying something...) because I guess the steroids are making me gain weight. I dunno. I'm not doing anything to gain past my "top weight" that I usually stay at no matter HOW horrible I eat. Since I started the meds- just gaining left and right since April. I'll be the bloated lady waddling around- you'll recognize me for sure. Especially if I can't find any clothes that fit me and have to wear the same few clothes every few days. grrrrrrrrr (not really all that interested in buying clothes to fit this weight but sigh.... guess I'm gonna have to atleast try. Wish i was the same weight I was last year -again. sigh) I can't even fit my pirate shirt I ordered! *cries*
eh well... could be worse, could be much worse. So no more complaining from the pillsbury dough-lady. LOL

, tell Dad to keep warm and get better. I know you will take care of him.

Pj

I made chicken soup for him for lunch again today. I freeze the broth in quart bags when I boil a chicken for salad or enchiladas so I have lots I can pull out and quickly make up some soup. He is still coughing a bit, but seems to be a bit better than the last couple of days. Dentist tomorrow, so I hope he will be able to breathe through his nose for that. :sad2: He took a nice long nap today also....I'm trying to take good care of him. :lovestruc

Lots of posts of documents received...or not, and a couple of new folks joining in the fun. :thumbsup2

:grouphug: So sorry to hear this. :grouphug:

We got our Docs today!!!!

I guess we should have checked the mail earlier:lmao:
Only waited 5 years for them.

Annie

:welcome: to all the new cruisers!

Prayers to all who need them.

My docs came on Monday (I think) this week is a bit of a blur - more 10-12 hour days. Today was so crazy I forgot to eat lunch until 4:30 pm. I am sure earning my vacation. Only 12 more days of work and 18 days till vacation! I am getting close to my breaking point between work and trying to get organized for vacation. :scared1:

OCD for WF and Renegade7 are you travelling together? I ask cause I was looking at the deck plan and noticed you were in the same room on the roll call!

Since neither of them frequently have a chance to get on due to their hectic jobs, I can vouch that indeed they are roomies on the B2B cruises!

I know both of them are very busy with work right now and may not check in, so I'll answer for them. Yes, they are traveling together, well at least once they reach Barcelona. Once is coming from California, the other from Georgia.

Cool thanks! Just didn't want the navigator being out of sync!

Thanks everyone! Yes, they have it right Kimmy and I are roommates and live 3000 miles away from each other. After 28 days together we will probably be happy to go home to our respective states. :rotfl2:

Well, at least I know they're showing up in VA. Haven't seen anything here yet, though.
I'm gearing up for a trip to get a sonogram (yes I'm a grandmother, no it's not for pregnancy) and the squishing thing (you ladies know what I mean) in 1/2 hour. Can't wait til the whole thing is over. Major dread happening here. Am hoping I come home to our docs!

Stephanie and I call it the smash and bash :lmao:

Smash-o-gram here! Hope all goes well!
Still no docs in Texas...But it's almost our regular postal carrier's time (no, I'm not stalking him)! ;)
--Lynn

I had my first (baseline) squishing this year. Love getting older, can't wait for the next milestone. I got mine early due to my high risk factor (lost my mom over Labor Day weekend in 2002 to a reoccurrence of breast cancer and her younger sister passed away when I was in elementary school from Leukemia). Not a fan of the "C" word.

Sitting in Barcelona airport on our way back from our Med cruise. 31 days til we come back. DW (Lorraine) is working an trip report, but anyone got any questions about the ship, entertainment, airport etc?

How much is the Drink of the Day? Then I can budget better.

I`ve been in a planning mode for our post cruise 5 day stay in WDW. So lets say DH and I have been having a "discussion" ;) over tickets options. A one day ticket is now $87, times that by 4, a day in Epcot and one in MK, covert into GBP and that comes to £232 :scared1:
On a more positive note have got the dining plan booked. I wonder if they`ll let us stay onboard another 5 days

I know! Its mad the price of Disney tickets these days!

Thought we may as well jump in. My wife Shanna and I will be leaving on 9/15 and staying at Le Meridien. We are in 6128 on the Magic. Looking forward to seeing all of you.

Welcome. Glad you joined us. Have a look at page 1&2 to see everything thats going on.

to everyone needing prayers because of illness - prayers to you all

Memory cards can also be transferred onto CD-Rom on the ship at Shutters. I don't know the cost, but the service is available. Our table mates had it done on our last cruise, I believe it took 1 day.

On the EBTA I offered, and several took me up on it, to transfer memory cards to DVD's if anyone needed it. I will have my computer. Just leave me a note on my door! But please bring your own DVD (no Cd's).

Sitting in Barcelona airport on our way back from our Med cruise. 31 days til we come back. DW (Lorraine) is working an trip report, but anyone got any questions about the ship, entertainment, airport etc?

Did you use Disney Transportation to get from the airport to the port?

Ok made progress tonight = one suitcase is fully packed except for my jacket on the top and my Mickey shirt in the side pocket! It has even been weighed - 44 lbs.

I am so ready to leave for this cruise! But that may have something to do with that I will get to see my hubby for the fist time since the EBTA!

Krisann

I am glad to see finally we are not the last ones arriving in Barcelona! Love the flight info on the first pages! Thanks for doing that.

Thanks to all who have sent kind words and prayers.....amazing what these things do....as well as antibiotics.....she is feeling a little better.....they have been pushing bag after bag of the antibiotics into her.....so again....thanks for t he kind words!
Tom

Pleased to hear your daughter is doing well and feeling better

Thanks. I don't need to contact them, just trying to determine if they're still coming or not. The search couldn't find any recent posts by them so I wasn't sure. I'm thinking about putting together gifts for the kids on the cruise, and was trying to figure out how many that would be for real.

I know Carsfans asre doing the Secret Mickey but they are not active DISers ... they are friends of EyeDisneyCruise.
