From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 3

I wouldn't rule out seeing some of your familiar faces of CMs from the Magic on board this cruise on the Wonder. Mike and I were on the Magic in January this year and both our server, assistant server, and favorite drink serve by the pool confirmed to us that they will be on this PC Cruise. Apparently a lot of CMs are switching over to the Wonder for the CA/AK itineraries. We loved those three CMs and we are hoping that nothing changed between January and this cruise and that they'll still be on board!

Well, it would definitely be great to see some familiar faces.

By the way, do we have any idea yet about when the special nights fall, how many formal/ semi-formal nights we will have and who our Captain and Cruise Director will be?

I made the mistake of checking the prices for the cruise earlier on and I can now get a Navigator's Veranda for roughly what I paid for our category 11B. I am hoping that our travel agent will be in touch with their reference tomorrow and as soon as I have this, I get her on the case to upgrade this. There are even still staterooms to choose from rather than going into GTY status. I hate the split bathroom, but I think I put up with this for a veranda during the crossing. I hardly ever used the bathroom during the Transatlantic anyway as I tended to shower up at the spa and was out and about and used the restrooms around the ship most of the time.

If we want to send postcards from Panama Canal, how do we do it? Do we have to bring postcards with us, or do they sell Panama Canal postcards on the ship? Do we need to bring stamps? or can they be purchased onboard? Do they set up a special mailbox or do we just drop off at Guest Services on canal day to get postcards cancelled and mailed from canal?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer these questions.

I want to know this as well. I would really like to send some family members postcards....ok maybe myself as well.

My Mom called this am and told me she got my birthday present early. Like almost 2 months. She got me a Kindle 3g! She is going to bring it to Disney in less than 2 weeks! Only 1 week left to work until vacation! Last night was bad did not get home until 130am~ Never done Palo before but have signed up for Manzanillo. Mom has never done DCL do you think she will like it?:cool2:

I got one for my anniversary last month and I LOVE it. If you like word games Amazon has a few for free. I got Scrabble also $5 and I'm hooked!! You will enjoy it, for sure.

I should have guessed!

Sorry to hear that your family members couldn't make it. It is very generous of you to open it up to all of us to witness such a special event. Would love to attend but I have 20 other cruisers hanging off me!

I would love to join you for your renewal. I'm thinking of doing it 5 years from now. It's either that or a reception at WDW. I noticed everyone else was polite enough to say "how wonderful, how lovely" but no one was bold enough to say pick me!! I dont know if it is rude to do so, but if you dont find enough guests to join you, my DH and I would love to. Just saw you are from Phoenix, we are in Lake Havasu. How did you fare with the wild weather last week?

 Guys - I can answer this......I've been lucky enough to have done all the past PC cruises and Guest Services does sell postcards AND stamps. They will also set up a small dropbox directly in front of guest services where you can drop them off before a certain time. Once I think it was 3 pm another it was 1 pm or something like that. But since its an early morning, you should have plenty of time to write them and get them sent.

Corinna

Corinna, Brent said that he was supposed to be on cruise helping Clayton (Hollywood for those old DISboarders) as he's scheduled to be the CD. Not sure if those plans were still viable but that's what he told another DIS friend of mine. Also, there was a rampid rumor Brent was supposed to go on land, he isn't permanently, just for some training then he'll help Clayton with the first couple of Cruises. BTW, y'all know he's married now right? ;)

As for the Cpt, can't help but WONDER (pun intended) that with the visual of Cpt Anderson on the TA, if he won't be out here? Interesting now isn't that? :scratchin Can't wait to find out.

As for making the mistake of checking prices, this is how I ended up back here again, that and thanks to WONDERFUL friend (Thanks Des! :worship: ) who kept an eye out for me, I'm back on. I tell you - if you ever need any help with anything Disney - Des is a wealth of information. She's my go to person. Nice to have friends like that. In fact, DIS is like that old go-to person. Jump on here and any ? is usually answered promptly. Gotta  that. :teeth:

Sorry, forgot to include you but I answered - yes you can buy postcards and stamps. While we can't get off the ship, the mail can. :)

Did brent say that?
I asked him and he said it would definatly be Christiaan, brent not going on dry land and his wife says she is going on the dream. I heard all that from the horses mouths last week.

Corinna

Corinna, I haven't used the showers in the spa yet, I always felt funny going in there. Just wondering if the towels are the same or are they mor plush? I'm on GTY for a verandah, but that's ok - at least I got one this time around. This will be the first time in (God-willing) 5 PC cruises that I will have a verandah. Last time, I hogged Des's verandah and didn't leave her cabin for hours. I figured this time I'd leave her alone to enjoy it as it's hard to wander around a big old lump mass on that tiny balcony. But it was a good thing I was on it as that rainstorm made its way into the canal and made all the ships look like they were right out of the POC ride. :rotfl2: I have to make everything Disney you know. :lmao:

Hi Lynne,

:scratchin, maybe its his way of keeping the guessing game handy. Pam asked him early on in the cruise and that's what he told her. He also told another friend of mine that it was supposed to be Clayton but I don't think they really know. Even some of the CM's that told me in the beginning that they were switching to the Dream, aren't being switched over. So maybe even they don't know until the last moment? Hm....I hate a game of wait and see...... I don't like Chrisitiaan......

Had him on the 11 Night Caribbean Special cruise on the Wonder and I had a problem that I spoke to him about and he didn't respond at all. He said he was going to get back to me and when I followed up a few days later, he just looked at me and shined me on. I don't see the same personality that some of the other CM's have. But maybe that's just him. I don't expect special treatment but if a guest has an issue that needs resolvement, it would be nice to have an Asst CD follow through on something. On the TA, I asked a question of David, really not expecting him to follow through. I was majorly impressed when he did and even followed up with a phone call to get me my answer. Now THAT is all I expect. But I hope that he (Christiaan) was just off on his game that cruise. Either way, I won't interact much with the CD, not like I did with Chicken-boy.....er....Glamerina anyway. :lmao:

Excellent idea. I usually send one to myself with the date, the weather and the port and some little comment. It really brightens my day when I receive it weeks later and instantly brings me back to that special moment.

I just got my Corsica one and on it I put the date, time, weather and who I was with. Put a smile on my face. Cheesy I know but just in case I scrapbook, I got an instant memory. :)

My little collection is growing. Didn't realize I'd been doing that for a while.

A little extra point about Panama Canal postcards. We all wrote them and posted them, but they all arrived NOT franked, or whatever you call it, ifrom Panama. It was quite disappointing as we could have sent them from anywhere. I hope it is different this time.

See I feel the same way about Brent. Almost because of the same reason. The big difference was I approached him about children in the adult only areas. He said he would take care of it and not to worry. Well not only did the problem never go away, but he even did not kick a dad with his baby in a stroller out of diversions after 9P.M and this was right in front of him. He even stoped Clayton from asking the man to leave. I should know as I was there and saw the whole thing. Boy did I write a big formal complaint agenst Brent. So if he is on this cruise I will not be happy as I can't stand people who lie to my face.

Bob and I are looking into a sailboat private charter while in Aruba for the day, around 6 hours. It is 44 feet, holds 22 passenger plus crew. Got great reviews on TripAdvisor, has been in business since 1977. We are looking at sail and snorkel. If we have 14 people, the cost should be around $75 each. Lunch and open bar included. We would want to be able to approve the cruise plans and schedule. In addition to sailing and snorkle, we would ask for a narration of the coastline and info on history, wildlife and local island living.

We'll provide more detailed information once we get it. PM me if you might be interested.

Val & Bob

We enjoyed having Clayton last Oct on the Magic. Last time we went on the Wonder I can't remeber whom it was. Brent I think? Counting down the days until vacation 7 days to go with 5 3-11 shifts to go. I hope to be packing this time next week.

They are big and thick but not luxurious, I went n most mornings post gym for a quick shower.

Thats kinda annoying if hes just telling us bs, but re the land thing thats def correct, he said lots of other stuff including stuff about the disboards and that very topic when he was chattuing to other officers in the bar.
He actually put a lot of thought into it, like well let me see, Im bla bla, claytons bla bla so bla bla, any how I have a great picture of me going bla bla back, lol.Len took it while I was trying to get info out him.

Don't you just love going back and looking at all the places you have been! Always brings back the best memories.

That is disappointing. The cancellation stamp is an important part of the postcard, maybe this time they will get it right. Even if it doesn't get cancelled we will know we were there and dropped it in the mailbox.
