Nov/Dec 2011 Promotions

If you have already paid off your trip and a discount applicable to you is announced, do they refund you the difference or are you just SOL?

IF you paid by credit card they will credit your card. If you paid by check they will send you a check in about 2-3 weeks.

If a discount comes out, Disney does not automatically refund you the difference so you have to call :rolleyes1 As long as your trip meets the discount criteria and there are available openings, they will allow you to keep the same confimation number and get the difference back :yay: I have done this several times without any problems :woohoo: So keep an eye out and good luck :dance3:

So I guess that today is just a joke from Disney? Or when do they offer the special promos? :confused3

Unfortunately pin codes are random - I know people who have been waiting years and never received one and then others who receive 1 or 2 every year.
Free Dining for the fall is announced later and later every year (2009 it was announced at the end of March and 2010 it was announced in May). I think Disney is trying to see if they need to offer it and if they don't sell enough rooms then the deal is announced. As for the winter free dining offers (dates from mid-October - December) the offer is usually announced sometime in July.
I typically recommend my friends book their room and then have the promo added to their reservation when the promo comes out because space is limited. While they typically don't sell out of free dining offers in the first week or two, I have seen people on here trying to juggle their vacation dates because there were no more free dining offers at their resort choice or/and on their original dates.
If you don't want to have to sit on the phone the day the promo comes out (you will probably be on hold for quite sometime:eek:) you can always book through a travel agent. They don't make anything off your stay (they get their commission from Disney) and they know about the promo the week before everyone else.
FYI: I booked a 10-day vacation for 4 (3 adults and one child) in September of 2010 at the ASMo and the upgrade from Quick Service to the Dining Plan was $200.
Pixie Dust to all of you waiting for Free Dining!!!!!!!pixiedust:

By looking at 2010 offers above...It seems as though the week we are going is never included in the discounts...recieved a pin # for this year but it excluded our dates....12/6-12/11...I have a feeling its beacuse of my nemisis...pop warner.(Wanted to stay at a value but had to upgrade to a deluxe... as per much advice from these boards...poor me right?)I guess they dont need to entyce(sp?) anyone to visit that week.Unfortunatly our dates are not flexible..sailing on the DREAM 12/11... I guess you can't have everything.Still hoping for something though FD or 40% would be great...hey you never know.

We are staying here from Dec 18-23 and wondering how did you like it? We really just need a place to stay between parks and nights because it's too cold for the pool and we really aren't eating there (we have the DxDP and if they call for free dining just like you we will get the upgrade for the little bit of extra money it costs-our TA suggested this too!)!

I loved it!! My kids really loved all the over-sized characters - Toy Story, Dalmatians, Mickey Mouse over-looking the pool. The staff were fantastic and the people at the front desk really go out of their way to help you with anything you need.
In my opinion value resorts are the best of both worlds if you are on a busget....they are relatively inexpensive yet you get to stay on property.
I would prefer to stay at a value and spend my money on the souvenirs, photos, and events and experiences than pay for a deluxe resort - we're never in our rooms anyway...it's go, go, go.
Also I find the movie resort (and soon the Animation resort) to be the most Disney oriented for the young kids. Have a fantastic vacation!!!!:mickeyjum

So, I gather it is best to book now and hope for a code or free dining? Can you cancel without penalty anytime up to a week or so before the trip? Do they charge you when you book, or when you check in?

sorry for so many basic questions, but we've always stayed at SoG before, and I've never booked through Disney.

Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I booked mine and we have up to 45 days before to cancel without a penalty and when you book you have to put down $200. Then the rest is due 45 days before your arrival date.

Thanks for the info! That's very helpful. If you cancel, do you lose your $200 deposit?

The last several years we have had problems with the Navy screwing up our vacations. That's why we haven't been since 2007. I think that was the last real vacation we've had, so I'm really hesitant to book anything, but then you have to book so far out at certain times of the year. It's tough.

Yes if you are booking a package (room, tickets and/or dining) then its 200 down and the rest 45 days out... if you are booking a room only then its just the cost of 1 night and the rest is due at check in

I am reading off from the terms that I was given when i booked and yes you get the $200 back as long as you cancel before or on the 45 days out!

All of my brothers are in army, DH's 2 cousins in Airforce (as well as my grandfather was) and my dad was Navy so I understand about the vacations being hectic and tough! My poor SIL had to cancel her honeymoon and wedding because of it- they had a beautiful one planned and they ended up just getting married at the court house with the judge! So it's tough! I hope that this helps and the person above said that what I am saying is for the package- I am not sure if you are getting that or not (meaning room and tickets and/or dining) because yes we are, but I think that they are saying with room only you pay the one night fee and it's still refunded back before the 45 days mark?

I got a promo code that allowed for 35% off value for Dec 11-24 however I am hoping for free dining. What are the typical dates for free dining in December ( including pins or general public offers) and do I only get discounts on the days that the offer is offered or is it as long as I check in within any of those days I get the offer for my entire trip?

If you book ur trip with a pin code for room discount and free dining should come out later are you able to take advantage of both deals or do you have to choose one or the other?

You can only have one discount at a time. You'll need to pick only one discount code. You'll have to add the numbers to see which one will get you the best discount.

For my family of 4 at a deluxe resort 40% is better for us. For a moderate free dining works best.

Just booked today for November 6th-12th! A SUPRISE :rolleyes1 for the hubby! I CANNOT wait!!

So that being said, we've booked for the All Star Music MYWPD and am hoping for a code or a discount. Last year I was there at this time, and they FD was not in effect but we did receive a pin and upgraded from Value to Deluxe. I am hoping for a pin or a discount again! We would love it and so would our pocket book.

Any thoughts or ideas on our trip? We can book dinner ressies Friday!!!
