i'm not massively technical when it comes to computers, so the only way i know how to make door magnets is by inserting images into a word document. unfortunately that means i cant directly link to a picture, i have to take a photo of it then post the photo. ...

I, too, am stuck in a time warp and use MS Word to make graphics.

To display on the boards:

from Word, select Print
under PDF, select send as PDF to iPhoto
in PhotoBucket, upload from iPhoto (have to do this for any photo I want to post, anyway)

I have taken wine in my checked bags too and always get it. I think DCL has the no bottles in your check in a sort of a disclaimer.. for liability.. if it breaks, they can say it was not allowed to start with and they are off the hook for your wet stained clothes. I wrap mine very well put them in very large zip lock bags so if they break they won't leak so much. I have not had one break yet.

I always carry wine diapers which I use for all liquids. We had a bottle break and not a bit leaked onto our clothes.

Hi Karen, that looks brilliant :thumbsup2

Just a thought, if we are to stick the magnet on another disers door, is there a list going around with room numbers so we know where to put it next if the room numbers you know have already done it?

:confused3

How about slide a list of room numbers inside the page protector with your magnet - people can cross off their room # after they've had the magnet.

ATTENTION LANYARD LIST AND LANYARD TEAM MEMBERS

I have finally corrected the IMG image of the lanyard list on the original post. Please check the list on the following link:

Lanyard List

Now I am adding the Lanyard team members. Please check this list and if you are missing or incorrect on either list, please PM me.

Noel

Lanyard list is correct for our cabin. Thank you Noel and Lanyard Team!

Nope Disney doesn't but other cruise lines do. We take at least 2 bottle of wine in our main luggage and it is always there say and sound when we get our luggage:cool1:

They make something called bottle diapers - supposedly, you can wrap your bottles in that with no fear of leaks even if broken.

I have been thinking about her yesterday and today. I hope all goes well and we hear from her soon.

Fingers crossed for Jacqueline's health and wellbeing

just looked at the FE document, looks like we're going to need to tell the captain to visit another port so we have another name for another group, there's only 5 spaces left in the current groups :scared:

Nah... just add something for sea days and you will be good. Here are our magnets from last year. All drawn by my husband.

thank you for letting me know!

I use wine diapers and can recommend them highly as we had a broken olive bottle with no damage to clothes etc.

Fingers crossed for jacqueline's health and wellbeing

amen!

We're planning to see HP Sunday evening. It's the first time we won't be dressing up and going to the midnight show. :sad1: That's been a tradition for us since the first movie - I made us "wizard robes" to wear. We even took them to Disney with us b/c we were going to be there when one of the movies opened. But this year we both have to go to work in the morning (I have to go to both of my jobs, in fact), then we have the show at the community theatre that night. Dennis has to work on Saturday, and we have shows Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Busy weekend!

Speaking of which, we're doing "Treasure Island," so we've been surrounded by pirates for a month now. We opened last weekend, and both shows were sold out. Looks like they might be the same for this and next weekend. Dennis is the stage manager and I run the light board. And Juanita supervises us all.

Wow, you're a very busy woman! Sounds like so much fun. My DD loves to make costumes (she's into anime events, renaissance fairs, and anything else her friends want to dress up for) and went to the first HP movie and Star Wars movies in costume. As I've said before, the sewing gene skipped right over me, but she's quite talented. I'm not brave enough to dress up (even for Halloween!).

Stupid comedy is not my style so I think I will avoid Horrible Bosses. Thanks for the warning!:thumbsup2

DH loves the "stupid" movies :confused3. In fact, if I see one on tv, I'll say "that looks like a Larry movie" (or a "daddy" movie if I'm talking to DD). He laughs and takes it in stride...then watches the movie :happytv: while I head for another room :thumbsup2.

Ironing is a foreign concept to me as well. The iron I got for my bridal shower, 20 years ago, is still in the box with the shower card attached. :rotfl:

Shucks, I just bought a new one last week, when mine died. If I'd only known, I would have taken it off your hands and freed up some storage space for you ;)...road trip to Jersey! (I wear a lot of cotton in the summer)

thanks, looks like i have got a 9D, not a GTY oceanview then. oh well, will have to wait til room assignments are made til i find out if i'm pixiedusted out of deck one

same here, it doesnt really seem real at the moment, but as soon as we get a room assignment, i'll be fanatically searching the net for room reviews and locations!

I'm definitely hoping my mother will get a healthy dose of :tink: and be assigned a verandah near ours...not holding my breath, though. All of us GTY'ers will be burning the web researching our rooms, hopefully VERY soon.

Are you trying to give Pat cardiac arrest? Another group? :lmao:How about the Orlando group, or the WDW group, or the Sailing with the Fishies :fish:group? (stop me now, before I get silly :goodvibes) Although Aug. 1 is coming quickly; it may be a moot point.

Here's hoping Jacqueline has had a perfect surgical procedure and is on the road to recovery as we type. Hate to see anyone  before such a wonderful trip.

They run big, so much so that I didn't think they had Spandex in them - but checked the tag, yep, 18%. I ordered the size I would for a shirt and there's no clinging. Reviewers on their site say you might order down a size.

Thanks for the tip, Lynne. They have them in men's sizes too.

We have been looking for these but the only ones we were finding at Dick's Sporting Goods and other places basically look like a tight fitting wetsuit material, which is not flattering! These look looser.

We may order them in a couple of sizes to see which fit best and then return the extras to Sears, which is easy.

its a UK chain of supermarkets, there's one in gibraltar and we're planning on all going there to stock up on much needed supplies (which is alcohol for a lot of us) before we head out to sea

Excellent, I will plan a trip to Morrisons to get some beer for my room!

Seeing how ereading is getting more and more popular, I plan on informing with guest services if ereading is done by any of the CM's. For me it only takes running the netbook overnight and a USB-stick to hand them a copy of the books I've got in all possible filetypes and if ereading is done aboard, I could imagine it's a nice addition to the onboard digital library.

that is so kind of you!

I've been deliberating about a dress for formal night. I don't have a very big picture of it, but it's a red ballgown on Ebay and I keep coming back to it... is it too much for a cruise?

I keep thinking how I just love dressing up, and get so few chances during the year to do it. I've been thinking about it all week, and am pretty sure of the fit (I don't mind having it altered if needed).

So, yea or nea... too much, or seeing as it's Disney it would be fine?

my vote is yea, go for it! It will look gorgeous on you

Yup - Wine diapers, that's it! Good for you, Noel. The old lady's memory is toast.

Some CMs must E-read - Charlie, the piano player on the Wonder had his music on his electronic gadget. That's a brilliant idea.

I am going to be cancelling our Palo Brunch and Dinner reservations at some point. I am not sure if anyone would like to try for either of them, but if so we could try to co ordinate things!!!

Brunch is Thursday 15th at 10.30.

Dinner is Thursday 22nd at 7.30pm. This is a sea day so someone might like to change days. I'm not sure of what availability is left right now.

Oh, and they are for 2 people.

I sent you a pm about brunch! :-)

not as far as i'm aware but just stick it on another door with a FE i guess. there's going to be enough of them around!
never done this before so dont really know the logistics of it all, but hoping it goes round the ship and more importantly makes it back at the end!

What if we made the rules that if You as a DISer find a magnet, you bring it to your door and sign it, so that way we're not looking for someone's room who hasn't signed yet-that could be complicated! It would be fun on sea days to search the floors for magnets we haven't signed yet. The final rule would be the magnet needs to end at the original door by midnight of the final night, otherwise it turns back into a pumpkin... oh wait that's a whole other story. :rolleyes1

:scared1:
The kitchen staff is going to faint when they see 96 people in line at Lumieres for a sit down lunch.
I agree! It should be extremely fun to have our takeover Hope they don't run out of hand wipes. :lmao:

Weekly Recap
Thursday July 7 - 13

page 207 - 243 (36 pages)
Thanks for another wonderful recap... I don't know how you do it so thoroughly :worship:

i'm not massively technical when it comes to computers, so the only way i know how to make door magnets is by inserting images into a word document. unfortunately that means i cant directly link to a picture, i have to take a photo of it then post the photo. so thats what i've done, and here's my travelling mickey door magnet. i hope he gets to travel all over the ship :)
I love it! Very neat Karen :thumbsup2

for other people who are planning on doing the travelling door magnets, what characters are you thinking of doing? (just thinking it'd be fun if we all do different characters, that way we can see how many we can find during the cruise :))
We haven't picked yet but I think that would be really fun if everyone had different characters.. perhaps we'll do nemo or mulan

I'm definitely hoping my mother will get a healthy dose of :tink: and be assigned a verandah near ours...not holding my breath, though. All of us GTY'ers will be burning the web researching our rooms, hopefully VERY soon.
pixiedust: Here's hoping your mom gets a verandah near yours.

So funny story. I bought my pink feather boa's for the Champagne Girls meet a few months ago and they have been sitting in the bottom of my closet in plastic bags. Saturday morning I go in my closet to put laundry away and there is my black and white kitten covered in pink feathers having a blast with my now completly shredded boas. DH and I had a good laugh. Figaro just looks at us like "what, why are you laughing at me". Needless to say it took forever to clean up all the feathers and now I have to buy new ones. I guess I need a new place to put them. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Too funny!

When I did my onlin check-in I read, that there shall be 2 mobile phones in the staterooms. Does anybody know, if they are on the Magic too or only on the new ships? Last year they were not there. It would be great, because I hope, we can use them as a babymonitor.

yes you will have them but they are not very reliable (nor was the internet on the EBTA) so you can not count on them working all the time, and now way I can think of you could use it for a baby monitor. If you are in the cabin next door you could just crack the door open.

I know they have the villas at the spa, are they worth the $? Can you only book them on the ship?

Yes they are. Special occasion wise for me, every cruise for people with more money!

just rang and was told they are closed, they have had quite a few enquiries lol, told them they will be loosing a lot of money if they stay shut :rotfl2:

Alright guess I won't count on getting beer there!

I've found a map with the port location on the WBTA website...there is a shopping center called Dolce Vita that is very close to where we will be docked. Here is a description of it from a Madeira shopping site:

Dolce Vita

This is Funchal’s newest addition to the shopping scene. It has an excellent central location in downtown Funchal, next to the Santa Caterina Park, just 2 minutes away from the Marina and behind the main road ‘avenida de arriaga’. It is a large, modern mall with around 70 shops as well as a tasty food court offering anything from Burger King to Sushi. There is also a Health Club and a large Pingo Doce Supermarket and all this is serviced by a spacious car park that has a capacity for 900 cars. On the streets that circle the centre you will find many small boutique shops and one off designer establishments. Above the shopping mall is The Vine Hotel, a stunning place that overlooks all of Funchal. Lunches and coffees are reasonably priced and combined with the view from the outside terrace and the beauty of the infinity pool you will find that it complements the food perfectly.

Here is the website for Pingo Doce: http://www.pingodoce.pt/default.aspx

Perhaps someone else will have better luck that I translating what they have. It says it's a supermarket, but not sure if they have liquor and all that jazz...:goodvibes

Pretty sure this is the store we had our driver take us too, very nice and clean, they appeared to have a full supply of liquor and wine, we got beer and some liquor. Also we picked up some interesting fruit and had a fruit tasting party in our room. LOL!

It is/was at the terminal in Barcelona. We bought 14 bottles of wine, several bottles of alcohol. Wait.....forget that....we purchased a few "drinks" there. LOL.

I thought it was awesome in that you only had to carry the items from entry to the ship to the room.

Hopefully someone can clarify if it still exists.

And let me know if they have beer! LOL!

I have to recommend (if it is available) in Madiera this bread that they sell. When we were there last year during the flower festival they had all of these stands set up where they sold this amazing bread. The basic was this piece of bread that they sliced in half and slathered with Garlic butter and threw it on a griddle for a few minutes and put the halves back together, sliced it and gave it to you. It was absolutely amazing:love: I think it was 2 Euros but so worth it. My DH and I split it and it was enough that we weren't really hungry for lunch when we got back on ship. I know you could get other toppings on it as well and there looked like there were some permanent stands that sell it too. So delicisous.

Great magnets Mic! I love how there's one for each port.

Not sure if I've mentioned that before. Dennis and I actually met when we were doing a play. I'm planning to audition for a couple of shows in Spring.

Oh, and we never say "good luck" in the theatre - it's always "break a leg!" ;) We don't mention the Scottish tragedy, either. We're a superstitious lot

Ooops! Well, break legs you guys!!!

I have been thinking about her yesterday and today. I hope all goes well and we hear from her soon.

I was thinking of her as well for the last few days since she will be joining us in our Castaway Cay Cabana. Prayers and pixiedust: to her that all goes well.

Me too. I hope & pray everything is going well.
