"Unleash the Villains" mayhem - Disney Parks Blog up if you want to comment

Feeling bad for Jafar...heh. Crowd booed when Oogie Boogie left.

But CMs are doing better now. Made a second line parallel for people wanting to see Jafar while the rest of us wait for Oogie

We checked into SSR tonight and it was our plan to attend tonight. The front desk asked us if we were planning on going and basically politely recommended against it due to the gridlock. It's too bad, it looked like a fun idea.

Sure. I just put ten of the photos up on bartseagill.tumblr.com.

I think the only ones I didn't put on that post were frollo and the stage folk - meg pain panic and hades?

Yep in line for bus to resort no buses to take any resort guests home bus driver said it took her 3 hours to get here from the resort. Will be a long long night

All I can think when I look at those crowds is so glad I'm at home in bed. When I was younger I use to love the crazy frenzy of events like this. Now they just make me tired to think about.

Oh, and can someone tell me who Oggie is? I'm feeling very uneducated on my villains right now.

Took us an hour and 45 minutes from Parking Lot 5 at DD to get back to the Caribbean Beach. Unreal. Terrible way to end our vacation.

after 1.5 hours driving in circles, getting by the counting station, driving over the complete parking area, getting a smirk from a cast member and having to leave the area without any hint, any direction :confused3 ... up to now we had just positiv experience with Disney but that this evening, I think a little bit more information would be great. I was sure that it could be crowded but that... no nice feeling... so we sadly left :(

A bit more info would've been great especially to avoid the area if trying to get anywhere else. Took us 1 hr to get from Pop to Poly. If we were told turn left leaving Pop, it would taken 10-15 minutes tops.

Coming in we just saw buses picking up guests to go back to resort...

Oogie Boogie is a villain from Nightmare Before Christmas

We were in line 45 min and we weren't even half way to the parking lot entrance. Got out of line and now sitting in Kona with sushi and a Lapu Lapu!!! Worst traffic for a disney park in all of my 40-50 trips to WDW. Insane is an understatement

From what I've read, there were some traffic accidents that also contributed to some of the congestion also.

We didn't see any accidents.....

Drove from Saratoga Springs to Boardwalk then turned around (after getting gas) took about an hour and 30 mins!

We were there at 8 and are in line to go back, its a long line though. Its way too crazy in there and people aren't happy to be there lol. Too much for me! They ran our of shirts too :P

I have a few friends there. One of them waited 2 hours to buy the t-shirt and has been in line almost 4 hours to meet the villains and only just met Oogie a few minutes ago. She said originally they switched out Oogie Boogie with Jafar and most people booed and refused to meet him cause they wanted Oogie only so the line wasn't moving for awhile.

My other group of friends came specifically to get meet/get pictures with the rare villains but after seeing the madness and getting caught in the crowd watching the stage show (Hades Hangout which they said was great btw) they decided to leave. Then they heard of the gridlock outside the park and are just going on rides instead of doing anything villain-related. Most attractions have short waits since everyone is in line for the villains.

I would have LOVED to been there for this but it seems like more trouble than it's worth. I feel so sorry for everyone having huge chunks of their vacations taken out due to the crazy traffic! Here's hoping everyone gets back to their resorts/home safe and sound.

Maybe I read wrong or the reports were wrong. Glad I'm not there--I can sit in traffic for an hour and a half at home for free! Sorry you had to do that.

We made a trip down from Michigan because of Villains Night, and I've got to say, this is the first time I've been disappointed in DisneyWorld - on my 20th trip. We got into DHS around 4:30 and were told in the stores that we couldn't buy event merchandise yet because they couldn't sell it until it started at 8. We headed over to Indy, where I got to be an extra, which was a blast despite the 106-degree heat index.

We headed next to Mama Melrose's for dinner, where they took 35 minutes to seat us, despite us showing up on time for our reservation. Dinner was good though, so we ventured out into the park and used our FP+ for TSMM, then tried to get near Hades' dance party by the hat. It was an absolute crush of people and we could barely get down the path in front of Brown Derby to make our way over to the lake, as we knew the characters would be appearing there at 8:30. It was 8:15 or so, and the character lines already wrapped all the way around the lake, four or five people wide. There were no cast members organizing or working the lines that we could see, but we eventually found one that told us that each character spot would have two characters that alternated, and that the lines were already two hours long.

I staked out a spot at the top of the stairs near one of the character spots and waited to just take a picture of whatever character showed up, because there was no way in Hades I was going to wait 2 hours to see a single character. Well, at 8:45 none of the characters had arrived at the greeting spots yet, so we decided to bail. Several people on Twitter said that World drive was complete gridlock and they had moved less than a mile in an hour. On the way out, we swung into the same store we had hit on the way in, and guess what? They were sold out of merchandise, but said we could get it on the website.

The website has one t-shirt. They do such a good job with the hard ticket events, but this flat out sucked.
