MDE down???

Sure hope this doesn't mean FP is down in the parks today. If so, I feel badly for those who are there but unable to access their FP reservations. Will be interesting to find out.
 
According to Twitter, park entry is fine but Fastpasses and Dining are both down.

Yeah, they are separate systems. But last time I was there when the FP system was down, they told us we had to show proof (MDE screen) of our FPs to use the FP queue. And with MDE down... ugh, that sucks. I needed to book some FPs today, but at least I'm not in the park without FP/MDE, that would be much worse.

Given how integral WDW has made MDE/FP into the Disney experience and with the budget (and profits) that WDW has, you would think that they could (would) make a stable system. If only they didn't lay off their IT team and replace with outsourced workers.
 
I mentioned the IT outsourcing to someone in Guest Services this morning. She told me that was a false news story and that all IT is done in the US. Which shows another problem - either lying cast members or poorly trained cast members or just plain stupid cast members.

yikes, i'd never thought about it, but might be smart to screenshot my FP's and Dinner reservations so i have them in my photo gallery just in case!

Well, technically, the CM was correct. All IT is done in the US, just not by Americans.

Folks, this a great example of why you never ever rely on only your magicband. Always carry extra cash or a credit card with you at Disney.

Nothing beats a hard copy. Paperless will not be a thing ever. A kiosk guy was giving churros away when we were there a few trips ago becaus the magicband reader couldn't connect to the poor park wi-fi. He was my hero that day.

Makes me think I should have DH screen shot ours when it comes back up.
Also, I'm sorry for all you guys trying to use MDE today!

Absolutely, it's a pain but worth it. MDE was down for half a morning on either our Feb or May trip (they are blurring together) and people were pissed (with good reason)... I did have screenshots (learned that tip here) and they let us into the FP queues. But no one else was allowed into the FP queue. Felt bad for everyone trying to use their FP -- and we felt bad for the ride CMs that were bearing the brunt of everyone's anger over Disney's awful IT. And then others had no idea where to go or what they were doing because the entire app wasn't working (map and all).

so smart! do you screenshot some kind of map too? i could get one elsewhere on the internet if MDE is down, but if my internet wasnt working or something, it might be smart! or i need to print one from somewhere!

My kids always grab a paper map.

Disney WiFi goes down a lot, but of course, you can rely on cell service which is pretty fast in the parks.

It states you can still book a vacation and buy tickets but when you click that link it still comes up with the Stitch has ate your page screen.
 
How perfect is it that the link on their site maintenance page doesn't work. Fire every one of these people and the people who made the decisions to hire them.
 
I've been trying to add nights to our vacation that is currently split between Disney and Universal and lately most of the time I have problems with the site. 8-)
