This Is Us- Season two

Nooooooooooo!

She is Kitty, and that other person never happened.

Haha! OOOOHHHHHHHH but it did. I was expecting Frank Jr to walk into the jail and she'd run over and they'd start making out. ( for those of you who haven't seen her in Friends tv show, she was hilarious. She was a teacher who fell for a former, awkward student. She was old. He was young. They couldn't keep their hands off each other) It was well written.

I kind of understood where Randall's emotions were coming from. He was feeling very protective of Deja, and angry at anyone who hurt her. - I was actually way more mad at how he treated the social worker, who really had no power to make the mother see her child. With the mother, at least some of the decisions that led to Deja's situation probably were her fault (though I understand some were surely due to impossible circumstances!) I do think he listened to her speech, though, about things "breaking his way," and realized that.

Yes, I'm sure Randall thought of his parents and how things truly did break his way. He was lucky enough to be adopted into a loving family and have a good upbringing, private school etc. I'm sure Deja's mom has had a very different life...with much of it out of her control.

I think they both showed how much they love each other and are wiling to sacrifice their own happiness for the other one.

I totally agree, and this is the first episode I liked Toby.

I don't understand all the Sophie love - guess I'm just not that attached to her.

One thing I dont't get, even though I watched the scene twice...why did Rebecca cut out Randall and paste him over the picture of himself in the family picutre? I must have missed something...

I think he felt deep down that she really wanted a wedding. She was sacrificing the wedding to do a quick marriage for Toby. Toby's mom would not approve of Kate being pregnant without being married. Toby knew his mom would be disappointed so Kate offered to go get married so when they told his mom about the baby, they would be a married couple, and not just two people living in sin having a baby out of wedlock.

He knew Kate was "all talk" when she was saying, "oh good, I won't have to go dress shopping," and "It's soooo better this way, think of the money we will save." Toby knows her well enough to know that she was doing this for him and to please his mother. So he proposed so that they could do it the traditional way. Plan a wedding and have family and friends join them etc. Instead of rushing to the court house and doing a quickie wedding to appease his mother. I think they both showed how much they love each other and are wiling to sacrifice their own happiness for the other one.
Oh I get all of that and I think he could've planned a wedding etc for her, insisted on a wedding etc. I just think he didn't have to propose. I still don't like him. I feel as if he has control issues. Maybe he will grow on me over time. I'm keeping an open mind anyway. Ha! Did they not tell Rebecca??

Because they couldn’t get a photo with proper exposure on all of them in the same photo

I was wondering why she cut out his picture and put it on top too. My daughter said so that Randall would stand out in the picture.

Sophie doesn't do much for me either, but I would have closed the door on Kevin too.

Loved how Toby said she watched Say Yes to the Dress...lol Some of us can relate. I too noticed we didn't get Rebecca's or Randall's reaction to the baby news.

I agree with elgerber. She pasted the photos together to merge the ones that had the right exposure for each person.

The photographer said he couldn't get a photo with proper exposure for everyone. The photographer said that either the rest of the Pearsons look right but Randall looks like a dark blob, or the rest of the Pearsons are blown out, but Randall looks good. Rebecca took the best exposures of each and put them together. In the voiceover when the judge was reading her letter, Rebecca said something like "Things don't always work easily for us, but we make do." (And then the judge looked at the picture.)

Okay just another reason I LOVE Toby he knew Kate wanted a real wanted wedding and made sure she was happy. I loved how he talked with Jack. I was kinda hoping that Sophie would have told Kevin, no I;m not giving up on you instead of shutting the door on him. I'd loved the one judge asked the other judge you do anything good today. i wish Randal wasn't so harsh on DEJA mom but maybe that what she needed.

I think he proposed because Kate said something about their whole relationship being "non traditional." She said something like, "I proposed to you, we moved in together, now we are pregnant." I think Toby wanted to do it over the "right" way, or the way Kate wanted it to be i.e. more traditional. Which meant a proper proposal from Toby, and a traditional wedding. If you let him, Toby will grow on you. LOL!

I don't know why they didn't show them telling Rebecca.

Another good episode that filled in some missing pieces in the story. I really liked the scene with the two judges who made such a difference in William and Randall's stories but neither knew the impact they would have.

Sophie deserves better for sure. Kevin has a lot of issues to deal with before they could or should ever be together.

I liked the comparison of Toby to Jack in terms of how both enjoy(ed) making big romantic gestures. I hadn't made that connection between the two of them before. Also loved Toby talking to Jack's urn on the mantel.

Randall showing up at the door as William is about to go back to doing drugs - I didn't see that one coming but love that William's life ended with finally meeting his son and family. We now see how his life was very close to ending far differently.

I don't know why they didn't show them telling Rebecca.

2 reasons, I think -

First, I think they expect Rebecca to be worried about the pregnancy because of Kate's weight.

Second, it gives the writers time to play with a fun reveal to the family - especially Randall's girls.

And then Phoebe went on to have their triplets! It's all coming full circle now, isn't it?

I've always been a huge Beth fan - she's good on her own and perfect for Randall. I think Toby is better this season than last but I can take him or leave him.

But did you catch the judge for William was the Dr who delivered Phoebe's triplets and was obsessed with Fonzie? I noticed it as soon as they showed him. :rotfl:

I picked him up as the guy from Lost. I had forgotten he was the Fonzie dr lol

I gasped at the end too. :guilty: Poor Kevin is a mess. I was just so relieved it was the woman his age and not the youngin' in bed with him that I didn't even care he was such a jerk to her. :scared: Lol! I worry after she calms down and returns the pendant ( if there) because of its importance to him that somehow Sophie will find out.
