Jambo! The newest AKL Information thread

Anyone know what the current pool hours are at Jambo and/or Kidani ? Will be arriving in about 2 weeks and want to know what to expect ?
Just returned from a January trip at Copper creek , and Coronado Springs, and the pool hour differ wildly between the resorts is seems.
The Wilderness lodge main pool was open at 9-8pm, the Copper creek pool had posted hours 8-11pm (but was basically open all the time) .
The Coronado springs main pool was open 10-8pm ! Quiet pools had hours, but were basically open all the time (but no hot tubs at those :worried:).

Just wondering what to expect at Jambo / Kidani for End of Feb / Beginning of March ?

Found this info from All-Ears , but not sure if its 100% accurate ?

"The Uzima pool is open 24 hours, but the lifeguards go off duty at 10:00 PM and the slide also closes. The two spas close at midnight."

Thanks for any info !

That is old information. The pools are gated. I was just at AKL and noticed the pool closes at 8pm (I don't remember for sure what time it opens - 9am I believe). The gates are locked outside of those hours. The closing time will increase as Spring and Summer get closer, but possibly not by early March. I wish I had more info for you.

We have stayed many times at AKL but we always stay Club Level. We need a one night stay after our cruise and Club Level is not available. We love the Arusha trail view. The red river hogs are our favorite. Can we make a room request for Arusha? I assume that is what everyone wants right? Just trying to figure out how to make the best of this one night.

If you want Arusha, definitely request it! I think you have a really good chance of getting it! ;)

I believe a lot of guests request Sunset. Since Kidani opened, Sunset Savanna has lots of animal activity!

Never been to AKL - So for a family of 4, me, DH, DD 17, DD 15, looking at a couple of standard options. For the dates we are looking at, Jambo House has a studio standard that is slightly cheaper than a regular standard. Any insight as to what is better for a 7 or 8 night stay. A room with a queen and bunk beds would be ideal. But are the rooms a little bigger at Jambo? Wasn’t sure if it would be worth saving a little (very little) but the girls have to share a bed.

In a studio you get a queen bed and a pull out sleeper sofa instead of two queen beds, so your girls would be sharing a sleeper sofa. We like the studios because we don't use the sleeper sofa, so for a longer trip it's much nicer for us to have the sofa sitting area and a full size coffee pot. If your girls are coffee drinkers and everyone wants a cup before leaving the room in the morning, the full size coffee maker in the studios (which have a kitchenette) might help. The standard hotel rooms do not have the kitchenette. If you're okay with folding up the sleeper every morning you might like the studio for a longer trip so that you have a place to sit and watch tv when you are in the room other than on the beds.

Here's what the studios look like:

Just make sure you are not looking at a value studio - they are smaller and I wouldn't recommend it for a family of 4.

Wait.. do we want Sunset? Is that one better now? I’ve never considered anything other than Arusha. Now I’ll have to research Sunset. Anyone know where we have a better chance seeing the red river hogs?

I wanted to share this video from TheTimTracker that he made two days ago. It's pretty long but it gives you a nice walking tour of both Jambo House and Kidani. Lots of information! I missed some of this stuff during our first trip.

So excited! Today we upgraded from POR to AKL! This will be my second AKL stay, but my DFi's first. I have no doubt he'll love this resort as much as I do... in fact, I'd bet the farm that this will be his favorite! He loves AK park and so I think he will be amazed at AKL!

We'll be celebrating our honeymoon, arriving May 30th and departing June 10th. Our wedding is May 12th, so we'll be happy to have a couple weeks between the wedding and the trip. But 11 Nights at AKL! I still can't believe it!

Happy Wedding Day!!!!!

Hi everyone!!

We are super excited about our first stay at AKL October 8-13. We rented DVC points (Jambo, studio, standard) for the first time as well. I'll be reading through this thread but would be very grateful for any tips or tricks.

It's been a few years since we've been to WDW and both our previous trips were at POR. I'm trying to catch up on easywdw posts and I also subscribed to touring plans. Trying to step slooowly back into my WDW planning rather than jumping all the way down the rabbit hole! Looking forward to talking with you all over the coming months. :lovestruc

Mine is actualy the 9th-15th at Jambo now :) decided to change it up since it's now my first ever solo trip and I felt like Jambo would be better suited for a solo trip.

Had some people look at me weird when I told them I'm going solo as a mid-30's male lol it is what it is, I can't wait and am extremely excited. I've only been with family and I'm looking forward to being able to just do what I want at my pace.
