Because he likes rides too? and what used to be a less than 5 minute break is now going to be 30+? x 4-5 times.

Because he likes rides too? ??

I guess the question is: Do YOU and your family enjoy these cigarette breaks? Especially now that they are no longer just a few minutes.

He will have to choose what he likes better, rides or smoking. Or what is more important to him. Or you will have to decide what is more important to you. Wasting 2-3 hours so he can smoke? Or spending time enjoying rides. Again, you guys go weekly so it's hard to feel sorry for anyone in these circumstances.

I think the smoking ban is great, I've always thought that cigarettes should be just banned entirely from everywhere. My grandmother died of lung cancer, never smoked a day in her life, but my grandfather smoked constantly and always around her.

For strollers I'll have to look closer at the new rules soon since we are trying for a baby so will need one. Strollers never bothered me in the parks before, but some did seem rather large. Disney offers stroller rentals of their own, don't they? I'd probably look into that to know for sure it was within the rules.

Im sure there are some rides that he's just not into? Cant he smoke while the kids are on that ride? For example, I dont like tower of terror at HS. Scares the bejesus outta me. If i were a smoker, i'd tell them to go ahead on that while i smoke. By the time theyre done, i'll be finished as well.

My husband is an ex smoker, so I dont care about the ban either way, but from experience, I can imagine.....

He was never a heavy smoker, but I can imagine those who smoke a pack or more per day will find a place not as hidden as the current designated areas, to smoke. Nobody would go all the way outside of the park and nobody can quite cold turkey. I imagine the bathrooms will be a hot spot. His one "have to" cigerette each day was right after a large meal. No way he would eat in the park, then walk all the way out.

The parking lots will become an ashtray with all those getting in their last "puffs" before entering.
The resorts will be far worse too as smokers will chain smoke before/after a day in the parks, rather than just one quick break.

As far as the kids, I totally agree. I would NEVER let mine go into the smoking area. Luckily I never smoked and always took the kids into a shop or bathroom while hubby had a cigerette. Bringing kids into the designated area is just wrong.

I admit that the loose ice thing is a security issue. Maybe, it's just me, but I also see the loose ice thing as just another way for Disney to make more money. Let's face it. Unless your local, it will be difficult to freeze an ice pack. You could, of course, ask for ice once in the parks, but that takes time and they aren't going to give you vast amounts of ice. They will hand you a cup or two.

If people don't have a way to easily keep food cool, many will stop bringing it into the parks. It just won't be worth the extra effort. This means more people will be buying food in the parks. Win for Disney!

Precisely. DH used to use tobacco. He's quit but has an occasional slip. I understand how hard it is for him but he makes the effort and over all does a wonderful job.

I never bought his tobacco for him, nor did I do anything to ease his ability to use. Perhaps it sounds harsh, but I didn't believe in enabling him slowly killing himself. Same reason when I turned 18 & my parents asked me to run to the store on my way home and get them cigarettes I said nope. I wouldn't let my plans be interrupted to allow someone to harm themselves.

I don't mean to sound judgy if I do, just sharing my perspective.

Woohoo!

My family is excited about these changes. Well, like many, we don't fully understand the ice one, but hey, we will roll with it. I've lost three grandparents, four aunts, two uncles, three cousins, and six friends to lung cancer at much too young an age. To say we are not fans of smoking or vaping is an understatement. Sometimes it takes a catalyst to help someone break the addiction. If this new rule helps even one person to stop smoking, then happy day.

We will also not miss the land barges rolling through the parks.

Congratulations for having no compassion, since you have stated multiple times how you don't care about anyone else's feelings on this matter. Yes, actually, we all enjoy those 5 minute breaks. I get to check my social media or set up our next FP+, the kids get off of their feet for a couple of minutes or play tag or something. Will we enjoy having to walk from the back of the park to the front and doing security 5 times a day. Absolutely not.

I used a double Citi Mini many times with our three kids and it's an awesome park stroller but still well within the limits. I can understand if needing a triple or something it might be an issue (provided there isn't a second adult to push a second stroller) but there are plenty of double strollers even ones you can add another seat or standing position for a 3rd that will fit just fine. Still lots of options that meet these requirements.

Perhaps one of the reasons for the no loose ice in coolers is that the CM's have to dig through all of that cold ice. Their hands I'm sure are freezing. Then they get to the next guests bag digging through it with cold wet hands.

Its definitely security screening related since they are okay with you filling up with ice after your in the park. Im guessing it's just the general slow down(and cold hands) caused by digging through a packed cooler. I bet we will see a total ban on coolers in the next 5 years.

I might have to contact Disney, I wonder how a nicotine inhaler would fit into this, I can't see it falling under this umbrella, but now I'm generally curious.

I can't remember is that available OTC or do you need a prescription for it? It's been ages since I worked in smoking cessation. (And most of our clients rarely opted for the nicotine inhaler)

Enforcing rules is not their strong point.
Yeah, frustrating. But maybe because of the new outright ban they will be more on top of it. I think the key is COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN when you see someone smoking. Complain to nearest CM. Complain to management. It's obviously become a problem for Disney to ban it all completely within the parks. And Disney "sees" everything, they really need to step up when they see it.

Personally, I would love to be a CM and tell someone they can't smoke. I want to do it and I'm not even a CM.

I certainly hope they don't ban coolers entirely or perhaps like other parks at least allow them with a doctor's note for meds and dietary restrictions. I do totally understand the issue with ice though. I mean I guess you'd have to be able to feel underneath it all because who knows what someone could be hiding in a heavy cooler full of ice. Hopefully, the zip loc bag method will be allowed though so security can pull the bags out and inspect everything but still make it quicker and easier than just a cooler full of ice.

That's good to know. When I have an actual baby I'll look into this more closely.
