yes, but its not that great of a deal. ur better off using the TCB + raise or at least a 10% off via chase offers.
No, it isn't... merely trying to keep that card alive at this point.

No current SB offers on Chase for me although I did take advantage of it about.... 6 weeks ago? I think I had it on at least 3 of my Chase cards.

Just read the email from my 7th grader's band teacher to the parents and kids and it made me cry. Hers was about how proud she is of them and how sad she is that they're not going to be able to do their end of year concerts.

Apparently my son was supposed to have a triangle solo :D
I also received a letter like that today from my daughter’s teacher. Her teacher was truly put on this earth to educate kids, and my absolute favorite to date. To make it all even worse she won’t be returning next year. When my daughter realized she wouldn’t ever see her again in person she was pretty sad. 😢 Fortunately they can still see each other in their online class chat, but this all stinks 😞

Random question - my new flats fit fine but the inside of the shoe is too slippery and my foot slides and then it starts to come off my heel. I don't like going barefoot in flats, ick, so is there something else I can do to the inside of the shoe to make it not so slippery? I'm thinking of adding those pads inside the heel but I'm not sure it would help. This sliding reminds me of when I used to wear heels and your foot slides down into the toe but not to the extreme I'll get blisters but it makes me walk a bit off to try and keep them on.

We aren’t worried about the financial side of getting an attorney. It’s more that we don’t know when we’ll actually be able to go out and meet with one. We would rather get things going and started if possible. The legalzoom packages come with 1 year of professional help so Dh thinks that should work similar to having an attorney. What do you think?

I believe the last will package is $279 that comes with living wills and POAs

A lot of estate attorney's will come to you and given the current state, I imagine would meet you via skype to make things easier. Unless the professional help you get is actually a lawyer that has passed the bar in Florida I wouldn't count on it being as helpful as an actual lawyer. To me this is the one thing you don't want to skimp on because it will cause headaches later and a lawyer will come up with the questions that need to be asked more than I'd expect a professional that could just be someone in a call center.

An example, yes power of attorney is important if you end up in the hospital but did you know it also covers other things? Example that I think I've shared on here before from an estate attorney. A couple that lives on Puget Sound was out of the country on vacation when a large bird, I think a hawk, flew into their living room window. Their neighbor's, who were also their POA, noticed when checking on the house and due to the POA was able to get everything with the insurance taken care of and the window was replaced before the homeowners returned from vacation and they had little to deal with on vacation because of it.

No obviously this isn't something that happens often but it's just an example of how it's not all about medical and children. I realize that you probably don't know anyone in the area well enough for something like this and I'm not saying to find someone local, but it's stuff like this that the legal zoom people may not address, ask about etc that an actual estate attorney will.

It's not about making things easy for you, though obviously the POA, medical directive, living will does because it's supposed to follow your wishes of what you want done if you get sick etc, but it's to make it easier for everyone after. It's really not a huge time commitment. My mom did most of the updates she needed on hers via the phone.

You very well may be able to do all you want and need with legal zoom and be happy with it for a few years and then get it all done later with an attorney. But the most important thing, regardless of how it's done, is that it needs to be filed with the state, or county or however it's done in FL. And probably notarized, which will mean leaving the house. Again you may find an attorney that will come to you that can assist with that.

I appreciate everyone’s input on this topic! Dh is used to doing everything on his own so I think he thinks this should be no problem. I’m not on the same page as him.

The legalzoom package comes with 1 year of professional help to complete the documents. Dh thinks that would be similar to what an attorney would provide. What do you think?
I’m sorry, I’m not familiar with what legal zoom classifies as professional help. If it is a paralegal or attorney answering questions and pointing out potential issues, with your estate, then that would probably be sufficient for putting together a will that should give you piece of mind. But if the professional help relies on you knowing what questions to ask to make sure all your bases are covered, then you are putting yourself in a riskier situation. I don’t mean to scare you off from legal zoom. I do not doubt they would provide you a will that would be a valid document. What I cannot know is if it will be the will you need for your circumstances. That is where having an attorney to ask you the questions and draw out potential issues with your plan is very helpful. You don’t know what you don’t know.

I feel extremely lucky that my younger son is only in 7th grade so he will be at the same school next year still (and have the same band director) and my older son is only in 10th so he, too, will still be at his same school next year.

I feel bad for the current 8th graders and so so awful for this year's seniors!!!

Is this the Arrival+? Have you considered PCing instead of canceling? I was able to call in and PC mine to the no fee Arrival about a month ago. This way I got to keep my points.
I never even thought of doing that. I’m not very familiar with the Barclay cards, and didn’t think to look to see if there was a no fee version. Thanks so much, for mentioning it. This is my new plan!

So a bit of good news to share...
Some may remember, my DD was supposed to go to wdw with her high school softball team for spring training at ESPN WWOS a couple weeks ago when everything started closing and we had to cancel the trip. Now Disney has released their recovery promo with the free dining plan. We are able to rebook and go down this summer as a team, stay 5 nights at Pop like we had planned, get our park days, plus the QS dining plan we had planned to pay for, and the total cost is about $300 less per girl. We can use that extra money to either upgrade to longer tickets (we had 3 day base tickets), or maybe just add PH or a water park) and book a nice table service meal. Most of the team is going to be able to go. DD is a senior and all the other senior girls are going for sure. So while they won’t be able to play any softball while they’re down there it’ll hopefully be an awesome vacation together before they all head off to college. We picked a week in early August so I just really hope all of this has passed by then! It’ll be hot but we’ll deal with it.

Right now my boss at least is taking new clients. We are under a stay-at-home order but legal services seem to be exempt. However, we are taking no chances and currently all client conferences are by phone or video conference. Then any back-and-forth about drafts happens over email or phone, like usual. Finally we are figuring out a system to do "drive through" signings where the clients pull into the office garage and we (attorney plus me and someone else as the witness) stand at a safe distance to watch them sign their documents in their cars before we sign + notarize. You may be able to find someone local to you who has a similar system set up to minimize in-person contact.

I agree with what @hlhlaw07 and @afan said that it's hard to say that the "professional help" from LegalZoom is the same as using an attorney without knowing who would actually be helping you. Normally once we do a signing for a client we usually don't see them again for several years unless something very dramatic happens. So I'm not sure of the usefulness of having one year of professional help after signing your documents - ideally you won't need to update them again for many years unless you win the lottery or all your kids are grown up and out of the house.

I know you're expecting a new arrival soon so I don't want to scare you into putting your estate planning off until after that point. I would want something in place before you have to go to the hospital because you will not want to be dealing with this postpartum. Having a LegalZoom will + powers is (probably) better than having nothing. But maybe reach out to neighbors, coworkers, etc about who they used, and ask those attorneys what their timelines right now would be to turn around simple wills + powers for the two of you.

I’m not sure if this is gonna realistically get done before the baby comes. It just seems like a lot to take in and I’m due in 3 weeks. I did look a little further into legal zoom and saw this: https://www.legalzoom.com/attorneys/state/florida/practice-areas/last-will-and-testament

I’m not sure if these are the people who are included with the year or not. I think we need to do more research on this. I believe our financial advisor was the one that suggested the trust and that’s why Dh was looking into that. From what all of you have said it makes more sense to me to do a last will. Dh and I need to keep digging to see what makes the most sense.

I see DoC is reporting mileage refunds for United flights up through May 31. Our tickets straddle that date (flight home isn’t until June). I don’t know whether to go for the cancel now or wait. I don’t want to miss my only chance if they’re going to change this policy yet again tomorrow. This company is nuts. My brother works for a company that, shall we say, does a lot of work for United. He’d agree I’m sure.

That's awesome news!!!!!! I have WDW tickets from my canceled trip in April. I've been looking for availability in August in case I have to shelve my Europe trip until next Summer. I don't know if Disney hasn't released a lot of rooms for the Sun and Fun discount or there's just a lot of people that don't think the world is ending.

Anyway, I can't find anything at a reasonable price at a mod or deluxe. I guess that's a good sign that people aren't canceling their WDW trips in August. I'm persistent though I'll find something eventually. I will gladly pay higher prices if the world is back to normal.

Disney always amazes me at how they can make you feel and cry without using any words but I had to force myself to keep the good dinosaur on after the first 20 minutes. Wow. At least the ending was good but now I get why people said what they said when it came out. Also, totally not a little kids movie.

Chase travel cruise desk doesn't hold blocks like other TAs might. Basically what you can see on the cruise line website is what you can get through Chase. They also don't do any special offers or pricing themselves. While they are a full TA, they're basically in business to administer CC rewards program so they don't do incentives themselves - at least that what the agents told me and it matches what I've read online. That said, they can do anything you can get directly from the cruise line like past guest pricing or promotions. But their inventory should be the same as the cruise line site.
so...would you know if a cruise booking paid with UR - are cancel rules whatever the cruiseline policy is?Or does the portal have its own policy? DO you know if I'm supposed to be able to view mu trip on my UR portal page, like I can see a hotel?
