Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

Is there anywhere here that has more actual information and discussion about things other than masks? It seems like every thread becomes that, and it’s becoming harder and harder to find the actual information.

edit: oh even the thread dedicated to room cancellations had to get locked because of this issue. Totally get it mods, but ahh this is increasingly frustrating to witness! Really wish we had a place to chitter chatter about little bits of hope or things happening that aren’t official announcements.
I agree. They either will or they won’t and you’ll either go or you won’t. That’s about all there is to it!

Denial isn’t just a river in Egypt. Masks are going to be mandatory for some period of time at WDW.
Borrowing from Jungle Cruise?:sail:I miss Jungle Cruise...... and Big Thunder Mountain, and Splash Mountain, and Haunted Mansion, and................well, everything at WDW! Even the rides I don't "love the most" like Stitch's Great Escape. But if it's open when I ever get to go back, I may have to go in again!

Also in the union agreement was checking temperatures. Are there places at the entrances of the parks that would be amenable to the temperature tent we see in videos in Shanghai? Or would this be more at the entrances to transportation or parking?

I read yesterday about an attraction that was going to be taking temperatures in your car, before you parked. Disney could do that without too much trouble. It would slow things down, but they have the people in place.

Setting up temperature checks outside each park doesn't seem to be much of a challenge to me. All of them have space to set up temporary tent like facilities. To try and do it at every source of transportation would be difficult and require a lot more sites.

TTC and MK bus entrance have space to put the walkway like SDL
Epcot and DHS have space as well
the only one with limited space would be AK

Except that a great many people don't drive their cars to the parks. We never have.

That is a good point, but they could access the drivers in that way.

Maybe, the will set up checks at the resort bus stops. That way, if you're too hot, you haven't gotten all of the way to the park before being disappointed.

Disney and the Union have signed an agreement requiring masks. The only question is for how long. Masks are going to be required. It's a done deal.

Agreement is worth nothing until the parks actually open and it is put in place. There have been no concrete pieces of evidence that parks are opening anytime soon. If a mid-July opening is right, it is almost 2 months away. Things will change a lot in that time, and a lot of CM will get sick of wearing masks in their real life, let alone work 😛. As I said before, it concerns me more what face covering choices people make and the actual effectiveness of said coverings and the contamination caused by improper use. More harm could be caused than good. Man, I hope a plan gets submitted to OC and subsequently released so there is something else to talk about.

The mask debate: BG exits!

Any rise in temperature caused by getting hot, dissapates quickly. Besides, you really don't get hot by just being at a bus stop and riding to a park- at least not enough to cause a rise in body temperature. I think they'll try and set up 1 checkpoint at each park- much simpler.

This is perhaps a stupid question - will masks be required ONLY in theme parks? what about when you're strolling around the resort? I want to say - yes - but I'd be assuming.

Maybe. But I think they will more likely stick with temp checks near the park entrances. They may need security to encourage some folks who have a temp to move along.

I think maybe they meant that if you had an elevated temperature from a fever you wouldn't get all the way to the entrance/security area and then be turned away. If my bus experiences are any indication I would come off below temperature every time, it's like the artic express every time.

They already have you captive at the bag check, so I can see that being a logical place to do it.

That’s actually a good question. I’m not sure they’d even bother trying to enforce it at resorts. There’s not really CMs or security going around walking paths all the time. You see them driving around in golf carts every once in a while. I think in common areas they’ll enforce it, or advise it.

Signed Union contracts are a pretty big deal- any changes in them require going back to the negotiating table and that would only delay opening. If you understand how Unions work, it's not realistic to think they'll do that. I have no idea how members feel about wearing masks. But, for now, anyone planning a trip to WDW when they first open should expect that they will be required to wear a mask.
