Resort Change by Disney

I just got a call from Undercover Tourist to ask if I plan to keep or cancel my 7/17 reservation for POFQ. I told the Rep I plan of keeping for now. She said the resort won't be open and that Disney will move me to another resort, most likely an upgrade, as they would never down grade us (her words). I do not need to call Disney. She also said it I should just keep checking MDE to see where we are moved. She also stated that UT has no idea when this will happen( could be day of check in!) , and that the communication from Disney hasn't been good. She said that she thinks Disney has no idea what they are doing LOL. This stinks because the resort is one of the main deciding factors for this trip. I guess I'll continue to wait.
Same with us. We got a call today. I don't know if this has been posted yet or not, but we are staying at POP at the end of July. POP is listed on Disney's site as opening on July 10th. UT told me that they received communication from Disney today (Friday) that they are not sure POP will open then. They (UT) were given a list of names that UT needed to follow up with to see if we wanted to cancel or be moved. She also said disney would "upgrade" us at no additional cost to us. She specifically said they are trying to get the info from Disney where people will be moved, but they have been told to tell people to check MDE and that we would not get a call. I asked if the tickets were refundable, and she said not normally but given what's going on we could get a full refund on the tickets and hotel anytime between now I think it was 9 days to check in or something like that. The tickets would have a 5% fee, but the rest of the cost would be fully refundable. We elected to move at this point, not sure where. But good to know we can get the $ for the tickets if FL cases keep going up.

My TA says she still cannot get through! Why can the TAs not get through if you all/others are getting through? Is it because you guys were willing to wait 6+ hours??

If it's any consolation, same here. TA has been trying every day since Monday. We are set to arrive on the 13th of July, and still have no idea where we'll be staying. I've used her a few times, so I am certain she is trying. But she mentioned the system being down a few times now. Twice, she got people who said the system was down and they took her info to call back and nothing. She emailed GS as well with no callback. Ironically, I did receive the email from Disney yesterday to contact my travel professional to modify my package by July 1st. Well, it's not from lack of trying...

We had an AKL Jambo Pool view room booked. Called Tuesday and they offered me CR garden wing garden view, no addt'l charge (price protected). Said that was the only thing they could offer me. It's still about a $100 free upgrade based on rack rate, and the rooms are bigger, so I'm super happy with it (tho bummed about no AKL bc I love it there).

Word is with AKL, they've removed Jambo house villas as an option altogether, so the only other option there would be Kidani villa, which I wouldn't have really wanted anyways. Though I don't think they are moving standard (non DVC) bookings to villas. You're moving from a deluxe room though so you'll get something good regardless. Most common one I've seen is the move to CR so they'll likely throw that out. All depends on when you're going and availability too though.
I had Jambo AKL king bed standard view for September and got moved to Kidani studio villa savanna view. I would rather be somewhere that had QS but I will just buy groceries and eat small snacks before and after the parks.

TAs have a separate line they have to call, it's not the same numbers as the rest of us. From what I understand, the call queue for their line has been closed quite a lot this week because it's full. My TA has also been trying to call without much success.

If I had been offered a Savannah view at Kidani, I would have jumped on that. Savannah view rooms are awesome! Would have made up for Kidani being a little less AKL to me. CR was the only deluxe option available so better than nothing!

We have standard all star music accessible room booked (5 nights)
Standard all star sports booked (9 nights)

I really don’t know if I could stand being on hold again for hours to see what Disney offers or wait and see 🙃

I originally posted on resort/rearranged dates thread & realised it ought to be on here 🙃

What do you guys recommend?
Sit tight or call to see what’s happening?
(I imagine we are off to pop).
Thankyou-sorry I wasn’t clear.
Our bookings are in October.

I have spoken previously to confirm we wished to confirm our bookings.

Then, came along the info all stars is not actually going to be open!

@married2mm, I was booked at ASMo in October and I called the “magic” 7866 number on Tuesday and was moved to Pop... I recommend calling. I told the rep that I saw my resort was not on the opening list and wondered what will happen... she was super helpful.

Ugh, magic number 7866 not so magic today. Called 7 times already and only get the "all circuits are busy."

@Wendysofftoneverland, I repeatedly hung up/called back for about five minutes straight, one right after the other, on Tuesday morning and got through on call #24, and waited only two minutes until a rep picked up. Keep trying! 🙂

Thankyou. (I’m trying again!!)

We’re in the U.K.; but I’ll call and see what happens.
Do I want guest services rather than reservations? 🤔

Not sure what your dates are but we were told POP may not open on time now and they are looking to move our late July stay to another resort.

I just seen Disneyland is not opening at the Original date planed. Do you think Disneyworld would push back their days too? I’m hoping not.

While I do have fears Disney World may end up delaying their opening due to the rising Coronavirus cases, Disneyland's delay is due to California not yet clarifying opening requirements for theme parks. Disney's statement indicated the state is planning to finalize requirements sometime around July 4th, but they could not be ready to open the 17th with such short notice. It is a unique situation to Disneyland.

We hoping for Disney World have our own unique concerns and fears. (Especially those of us with mid-July dates!)

I have a stay in August at CSR - Tower, and received the confirm/modify email last night. Since they will be closed (for us non-basketball players anyway), I clicked modify.

Today I called the 7866 number, instead of the one the email told me to, and got through within 2 minutes. I was on hold for maybe 1 minute and the CM who picked up seemed surprised by my call :)
She helped me anyway, and we got moved to CBR Preferred Room, saving us $30/night. She offered the Pirate Room with a price lock, but it's an adult only trip so I declined the pirate beds!

It been reported that CMs were given the information via the HUB that WDW will open as scheduled..

It might have been fun! ARRRR!

I was originally in POR and after many hours/days holding on traditional phone lines got through with the 7866 number. I was moved to Fort Wilderness Cabins (July 23-26). Not ecstatic about the move so I called the next day again with 7866 number (34 redials, but only 3 minutes hold) and was told cabins, POP, pay more or cancel. Still not 100% sure, I called again today (19 redials, 2 minute hold) only to be told same choices. DH convinced me to be happy we have beds and tickets and leave it alone. We've never been there so it will be something different. The moral of my story is the 7866 number has worked 3 times and quickly this week. Do not get discouraged by redials. Good Luck!

I swear I’m the only person that loves the cabins in this forum. Maybe because I’m old enough and on adult only trips that when I get back at 11 at night I like to quietly settle back in and not hear a family of 4 punting each other down the hallway(though I do accept it when I’m at Disney and in resorts that share walls with neighbors)

Oh I love Ft. Wilderness. We RV camp, but if we go with extended family again, I am going to try to convince them to get a cabin instead of AoA suite. I love the ambiance of the Fort and the boat to MK.

This is interesting about Pop. I am
not staying there, but I still hope the other planned resorts are able to open as scheduled, or I will have to be moved again!
