Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

Knott's Halloween Food Fair:
From today's MP DLR Update (9/14/20):
Knott's launches Taste of Fall-o-Ween
While California theme park operators continue to wait for the state to issue guidelines on how and when they can reopen their gates, Knott's Berry Farm has announced a new Halloween version of their "outdoor dining and retail experience" series.
The Taste of Fall-o-Ween event runs Fridays through Sundays, September 25 through November 1, and adds holiday decorations, new entertainment and a trick-or-treat activity for younger guests to the food and shopping lineup.
Admission to this event comes in the form of a Taste of Knott’s Tasting Card, which is now $35 for ages 12 and up (another $5 increase over the Taste of Knott's event). The tasting card provides samples of up to five of the Taste of Fall-o-Ween food and beverage options offered at 28 locations throughout the theme park. Tickets for children 3 to 11 are now $20, and come with three tastings and one trip through the Camp Snoopy Trick-or-Treat Trail. Children 2 and under are free. Tickets are limited each day to control crowd size. Knott's Annual Passholders save 20%.
Again, while the rides remain closed, Knott's says that artisan booths and select Knott’s retail stores will be open to with event merchandise and theme park souvenirs.
While the revenue from this event can't possible scratch that of Knott's signature Knott's Scary Farm bash, which was canceled for 2020 due to COVID-19, this string of events is helping expose Knott's to a crowd of theme park fans who are looking for a way to celebrate the holiday. For many, just walking through a decorated theme park may be worth the price of admission.
Thank you for sharing this! Wonder how will this event be effected if the theme park is allowed to open in October.

Thank goodness someone finally said something! My gosh.

On the other hand, it seems pretty obvious that there have not actually been any "talks" happening around this topic as the governor has suggested. This article and the statement issued by this organization is VERY CLEARLY their attempt to make sure the public has some more transparency into where things stand.

Hopefully this will trigger a response from the governor's office addressing the why of it all. It's time to reopen theme parks or give a VERY COMPELLING reason why it's not yet the right time.

Is there a place to read this article for free?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but as an east-coaster I specifically booked my DL trip for December to see HM Holiday and It's A Small World with all the lights, what are we thinking about overlays if the parks re-open?

Rumor is that WDW won't have Overlays so I'm thinking if WDW doesn't DL won't either. I've booked WDW as a backup if DL isn't open or has more severe restrictions that WDW did in my trip in August right now.

What are the odds that we will have an update this week or next week after the theme parks and the City of Anaheim called on the governor yesterday to present guidelines?

Do we know when the next update is From Newsom? Normally there is a reporter from OC register that asks question, so I assume it will get asked if he is there.

Regular press conference is today at noon(ish). I will steer clear of getting political, but will say that has not been his focus the last couple of days, and I expect his focus will be the bulk of the press conference. It would be amazing if he did announce something, but not getting my hopes up - will probably be another "discussions are ongoing".

I think September is officially a wash and if we don't get a date soon the first half of October might be out as well. Still have overlapping trips planned for WDW and DL. Might just cancel the DL trip though and commit to WDW. Have a lot of credit card points tied up in both trips but everything is refundable right now.

At least I am feeling confident about a March trip we booked. :rotfl2:

You mean the huge wildfires burning throughout the state? Those SHOULD be his focus right now.
I was thinking more about the Powerpoint presentation, but if you don't know what I am talking about then forget I said that - forbidden territory in this thread. NMW, I'm a terminal optimist - I'll be tuning in - and singularly hoping for news about DL.

100% unknown.

They are beautiful and definitely worth seeing so if this is a one trip for Xmas and there is no overlay I would definitely delay it to next year.

WDW doesn’t have ride overlays. (Jingle cruise doesn’t count when you’re comparing to IASWH and HMH.)

WDW is confirmed not doing their Castle icicles.
