Anyone else concerned about the crowd increase?

Which park?
Sorry, the heat must have addled my brain. MK. We just left and are going to try going back at 4pm—got tired of massive waits for anything. We only got to do 4 rides before lunch (7DMT, Splash—got stuck in a cleaning cycle just as we were about to board, BTMRR and Peter Pan). Would have been a much better day with FP.

I'm headed to MK and live streaming at 3:30pm if anyone is interested in watching live
Maybe will see you there!

So you did 4/5 of the biggest rides in the park before lunch. You may be off track some but you are in a horrible position especially if you stay all day and mix in short waits. Not everything is an hour.

With fastpass we would typically did 9-10 rides in that amount of time (note we were in the park at 8:20).

Just waited an hour for HM which was always an easy fastpass to get late in the day

Adding that the hour wait we had for HM was a posted wait time of 35 mins. So yes everything is an hour regardless of what the app said. That makes 5 rides today.

just got back from MK, walked around the park just to get a feel for the crowds and although the lines did spill out and around the walkways were never crowded to where you couldn't distance yourself. Saw the Villains, Mickey and Princesses cavalcades in a span of 75 minutes
Decided to try the lines
Started around 4:45PM
Dumbo walk on (posted at 5 min)
IASW 25 minutes posted at 45 min
end of night got in line for Pirates at 5:43, posted wait time was 25 minutes it ended up being 35 minutes
not lying or sugar coating, you can watch the live stream and see for yourselves

Nope, I agree with you there—we got in line at Pirates exactly three minutes after you (still posted 25 mins) and it was exactly a 35 min wait as well. Shortest line of the day. It was also considerably less congested in the walkways in the late afternoon than the morning. Sorry if my posts have been Grouchy today but I feel a little annoyed at everyone on these boards saying how the wait times are half of what is posted—that was not true for a single ride today. Every wait time was on point or longer except one (Space mountain was 35 mins with a posted wait of 45–but that was at 4:30 pm after a lot of people had left the park.

Thank you, I'm going to take a look. We arrive in less than 3 weeks.

Also, wanted to post to mention to anyone who wants to watch your live streams but can't because they aren't on FB (like me!) I can now see your streams after they are over :). Watched your Frozen opening and another one recently with no problems either that night or the next day. I click on your signature link and then when on FB click "video" in the sidebar and all of them pop up.

Look forward to seeing your CSR one!

No need to apologize, everyone has a different perception, what might be fine to me can be crowded to others and all of those opinions are valid, the problem is when someone wants to change another's mind.

I think you hit the semantics right on the head
OP is concerned with safety, which if everyone continues to do their part is not an issue
Then others have chimed in and are inconvenienced by the lines, obviously no one wants to make an hour queue for anything.
So basically 2 separate discussions here

I see what you're saying. I also think safety IS an issue for some. If you're in a state with high COVID cases and/or poor mask/distancing compliance, the WDW bubble is a step up in terms of safety. If you're in a state with low COVID cases and good mask/distancing compliance, going to WDW feels much more risky.

The more people there, the more opportunities for people to flout the rules, or just forget them. I went to Target last week, and saw only ONE person not wearing a mask correctly (a girl I would guess about 12-years-old with her nose peeping out). The idea of being stuck in relatively close proximity to people for an hour in line makes me nervous. I don't want to have a good socially distanced spot to watch a cavalcade, and then have someone push right into my space bubble at the last minute, and I'm either stuck with them super close or I have to make my way out of the crowd and miss the characters.

Obviously, I don't want to spend hours on end in lines, either, but it's more than inconvenience.

Even in July, wait times were inaccurate. Sometimes they were over-inflated; others, they were under-inflated. A lot of that had to do with cleaning cycles though. I know people are saying that wait times are half what is posted, but others are saying that are right on or more than posted. I think it's a turkey shoot at this point. Some days/times/parks, they are all of the above. Sorry your day didn't go well. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

I was in MK today and lines times were generally pretty accurate, with a slight bias to overstating the wait as is Disney's habit. Touringplans showed lower waits by 5-10 minutes on most of the big rides. Generally, the top 5-6 rides were all between 30-50 minutes virtually all day long. I was a little surprised that some of the next batch - including most of the Fantasyland dark rides - stayed at 25-35 minutes even late in the day.

So yeah, July and August are long gone and not coming back. But still got plenty done, did 15 attractions even with a 2 hour Contemporary lunch break, including all four "mountains". Could have easily done 20-25 if I had pushed it. I will say the heat is fairly oppressive between noon-5.

Thanks! We are going to Epcot so I know it won’t be too bad because even if it gets crowded (and I expect it will) the kids still only have a couple must-do rides there so won’t be in line again all day. For me the main “attractions” are mariachi cobre and visiting at least one F&W booth, so hoping for a nice change of pace from yesterday.

I do agree with the more people in line, less compliance observation. I noticed a lot more people ignoring the increased spacing of markers for switchbacks, meaning we were often much closer than 6 ft from the people in the next “lane.” And at one point in the HM line during a long pause (cleaning cycle or malfunction, not sure), I did a little visual poll looking at the 10 groups closest to me in line, and 6 out of 10 groups had at least one person not wearing their mask (combination of eating snacks, below the nose and hanging off ears).

Well it is 25% of capacity, not 25% of “normal” crowds—disney parks have rarely ever met capacity and usually only in Christmas and news years. Since capacity is wall to wall people, 25% ot that is still A pretty full park.

I was able to see some numbers a few days ago and yes, the 25% of capacity is accurate. And apparently of that 25%, about 20% of people are no-shows. It feels like more with the stores and restaurants closed and the reduced ride capacity, but on a sold out day it's 25%. I have also heard they are gearing up to increase by 4-6% starting this weekend.

We observed several attraction vehicle cleaning stoppages. Some longer than others. The crew at the new railway ride @ MGM had it down to an art. Worked well as a team in general there IMO.

It so strange to me, that except for the big rides in each park, a lot of the recommendations say you can go later in the afternoon with similar wait times. I'm "trained" (LOL!) to get PPO and get there early; not sure my mind can grasp the temporary-state. Since we don't go for another 25+ days... gonna to keep watching. Thanks to everyone for the updates/info - so helpful... especially the transportation situations with the buses/skyliner/lyft/etc. We usually stay at POR, and are at POP for the first time - now we can better plan for a smoother/quicker way to the park and not be shocked by all the lines! :)

From experience going often, rope drop will get you on 1 or 2 of the big rides in less than an hour, then last hour of the park will get you on 1 or 2 big rides as well, in an hour.
In between it stays steady just because there's no parade or shows to spread people out, but rides like PP stay at around the 30 min mark all day because there's no fp and they board every boat, usually PP can go easily into an hour all day long, then rides like IASW are about 30 min because they are not loading a full boat

Didn't the CEO recently say they haven't and don't intend to increase capacity until the CDC loosens their guidelines?

Went to AK on Tuesday and MK on Wednesday...both were what I would consider crowded. FOP was posted 55 minutes and we waited 50 minutes. On Wednesday we saw 7DMT anywhere from 65 to 45 and we jumped in line at 45 and it was 40. Most of the wait times are accurate. I had a friend with me who has done 3 trips where she had the dining plan and had to book all meals and FP months out...she loved the no FP aspect. The lines were mostly under an hour, which isn't terrible, and she said she loved just being able to go with the flow and not worry about FP and times. She said it was much more enjoyable and relaxing. We waited 20 minutes for It's Tough to Be a Bug and saw more animals in the tree than we ever have before because we were waiting in line.

Haven't been there yet but expect there could be a big difference in the way 4 or 5 rides by afternoon are experienced. It would be in the balance between what portion of time was spent on lines vs time to freely roam the park. Standing in a line for 40% of that time will feel much more pleasant than 90%+.
