Anyone else concerned about the crowd increase?

checking the wait times on the app, it looks like Hollywood Studios has the longest lines. Does that sound right to everyone? I'm wondering about skipping HS when we go and adding an extra day at MK. Thoughts?
Yes. We are skipping HS on our upcoming trip. We just did not have a good time when we went there in august. Everything was wait, wait, wait. With most of the shows gone, not much downtime to just relax--always stuck in a line. Even less popular rides had long waits (e.g., waited close to an hour for Star Tours in the first hour of the day when on past trips same time of year it has been 5-10 mins standby at several points throughout the day). There was a 45 min wait just to shop at the bazaar in SWGE. The whole park is just too popular now and not enjoyable.

That's what we're doing. I was reluctant at first because we're staying at Boardwalk, so could walk over and leave when it gets too crowded and then go back later. But it's just me and my 77-year old Disney-loving mom, and neither one of us really cares that much about the rides at HS enough to spend an entire day there. We're doing MK on Christmas Day, so having another MK day prior to that to actually get stuff done will be nice. We've got two Epcot days, two MK days, and an AK day. We'll leave HS to the folks that love those rides. No need for us to be there adding to the crowds. :)

Wish they would reinstate fast pass. We are going Thanksgiving and even with crowds you used to know that you could hop on 3 rides. Now it will not be as fun.

We've been to WDW twice and skipped HS because it didn't have many attractions that interested us. Now that it has more attractions, we are planning on going during our November trip. But then I see the wait times and show closures and I'm wondering how much we are going to enjoy HS. Even on a busy day (pre-COVID), we could enjoy Animal Kingdom with our three fast passes and taking in the atmosphere and trails. HS doesn't seem to offer the same experience. Trying to prepare myself for a long day standing in line.

With current guidelines fp wil be extremely limited and would impact the majority of guests in standby, it just won't work now

Seems like they could at least use the FP line to split the stand by line so you don't see lines for Haunted Mansion reaching Thunder Mountain. People in that line said it was only a 35 minute wait, but the crowds out into walkways are just insane and are contributing to negative press for WDW.

Then they would need to install the plexiglass dividers everywhere, there's nothing hotter than being in those plexiglass queues, no air flow whatsoever

I feel like at this point, if they are sticking with this model for a while, thats what needs to be done. Shut the rides down for a day, one ride at a time, and get them done.

But I guess with VIP Tours, DAS, Golden Oaks, etc. the FP line is a requirement and cant be used as a second stand-by.

I'm only a little concerned. I would love it if the wait times were like what I read about in August, but I'm a realist, it can't stay that way and have the parks remain open. Economics don't work that way. I think it really goes towards expectations, and we're working hard to manage those for our upcoming trips. We eat out here at home, and are used to wearing masks when we aren't at the house. WDW and Uni probably aren't as bad as Walmart in town at 6 on a week night.

We have a split trip planned for 12/13-12/18 for me, the kids & BIL. Our 2 kids and I will feel a little bc of the lack of FP, but the GF has never been and BIL hasn't been since before the paper FP. As far as they are concerned, it will be a more magical version of Kings Island - we typically wait 30-40 min to ride the rides there, so waiting an hour at MK or HS shouldn't hurt too much. I have no problems staying later if it means the lines are shorter, and for sure my kids are thrilled that I wont be waking them at 6:15 to be at an 8am rope drop. We arrive on Sun and leave on Fri, so we'll miss most of the weekend crowds. I just really, really hope to get on ROTR this trip, bc 2 of the peeps are real SW nerds, and I know they would love it.

Dh and are doing a split trip in late Jan, and I'm even less concerned for that trip. I'm thinking Jan will be less crowded, and we will be more flexible since we have been to WDW more recently than our kids. This trip is really more for Uni, but we'll spend at least one day at MK, bc it's my fave. My only regret is that when we planned this trip, we were doing Uni and planned a DAH at MK, with tea at GF. No DAH, so maybe no 7DMT, which stinks, and I'm not sure GF will be doing tea yet. But we'll adapt. We need the time away, and it's going to be magical just to be away from home.

Between recent live streams, trip reports here, and a few other indicators, I'm cautiously optimistic that we will experience what I consider to be "reasonable" waits (20-60 minutes) for most attractions next week.

Two of the things I've also been looking at are Touring Plans predictions and park pass reservations. Except for a few weekends ago when the crowds for Food & Wine at EPCOT were higher than predicted (they've since upped their predictions for EPCOT considerably on the weekends), TP has had pretty good accuracy recently.

During the week, I'm seeing these stats for our days:
Animal Kingdom
TP = 1
All 3 park pass buckets have availability

DHS
TP = 2
AP bucket has availability. Other two buckets full.

EPCOT
TP = 1
All 3 park pass buckets have availability

MK
TP = 3
All 3 park pass buckets have availability

Weekend:
Animal Kingdom (Sat)
TP = 2
No availability for AP, but other two buckets have availability

DHS (Sun)
TP = 2
No availability for AP, but other two buckets have availability

Hopefully, this points to "busy" but not "insane" crowds.

We were there 9/28-10/2 The only park that we felt was ‘full’ was HS. We did 2 days there, Even ‘full’ we did everything from rope drop that we wanted the first day except MMRR but that was only because we got rained out. The second day there we did it all. The longest wait we had would have been MMRR that first day which was listed at 105 minutes before we left. That first day we went right to Smuggler’s Run and we were literally the only people in Galaxy’s Edge, we walked right on.

None of the wait times that were stated were as long as they said. Most were only 20-30 minutes tops.

We did find Epcot started getting busy after 4pm on the Friday, but that I’m sure was locals coming for food and wine.

With the news article that just came out that said they were operating at 25%, honestly it ‘felt’ like more than that, but based on most of our wait times I’d say it’s probably pretty accurate.

Well it is 25% of capacity, not 25% of “normal” crowds—disney parks have rarely ever met capacity and usually only in Christmas and news years. Since capacity is wall to wall people, 25% ot that is still A pretty full park.

Back in May 2020 Touring Plans was reported to have stated estimated pre-covid capacity of MK at 90k, AK at 60k, EP at 110k and DHS at 60k.

I've always said that their "capacity" numbers were ridiculous. How does Disney define "capacity"? "People can barely move in the parks, it's a claustrophobic nightmare, but the shareholders are happy because we packed 'em in like sardines!"
