I have just returned from a 10 night stay in WDW (well almost returned, we are on a layover in YYZ waiting for our flight to Moncton). We were very comfortable in our Canadian airports (Halifax and Toronto), felt like all possible precautions were being taken and enforced. Arriving in MCO was a little more chaotic. They had some measures in place, didn't appear to be enforcement. I did find there was plenty of room for us to distance from others when we felt it necessary. Got our bags and went straight to Magical express, once in Disney bubble our comfort level improved greatly.
On one day we rented a car to check on our place 90 minutes south of WDW and get some groceries. I didn't feel this area was doing all they could and at times I wondered if they knew a pandemic was even going on. Realized our decision to enjoy a Canadian winter was the right one for us. After that day we remained in the Disney bubble for the rest of our stay.
I have heard some say Disney was going overboard. In my opinion they were doing exactly what we do here in Canada, or at least in the Atlantic bubble. I felt no less save than I would in my own community, no more save, but no less either.
I realize this decision is not for everyone. We thought long and hard before we decided to do it. Coming back into Canada, we filled out forms with contact info and were asked very specific questions about our plan to quarantine. We also pre registered with the NB government as required for our return. It was nice to see how Disney was handling Covid. I feel they are doing the absolute best they can, of course the challenge is guest compliance. It is not the same Disney we all know and love. But I will take this version as opposed to none.
We are frequent visitors and AP holders. Our son is grown, and we were not travelling with Children. In my opinion if we were a young family who had been planning and saving for our first trip, now may not be the best time. Also, if the shows and entertainment is more your thing as opposed to attractions, you may not enjoy it as much.
I think it is a very personal decision right now if travelling is right for you.
