Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I would love to see entertainment come back. The thing is that there’s never been a “covid” reason not to have most of it - something like the Dapper Dans could be up where the characters are at the train station, even. I wish they had a little cavalcade or something happening.

But Disney isn’t going to pay for entertainment if they don’t have to. Currently, they sell out reservations easily, so what’s the incentive for spending money they don’t need to spend? People keep calling this “greed,” but it’s also just a fact that they lost a lot of money and are, of course, going to focus on profits where they can. It’s a business.

We keep filling out our surveys to show that we want entertainment back, but we also keep buying tickets to go now, sooooo... 🤷‍♀️

California reveals details of June 15 full reopening plan

Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test won't be necessary to do anything, not even go to a sports game. However, the state is planning to keep some recommendations -- not requirements -- on these "mega events" in place:
  • At outdoor live events with more than 10,000 people, California will recommend venues have a verification of vaccination/negative test in place. Those who aren't vaccinated or who don't show a negative test result can still enter if they wear a mask.
  • Indoor venues with 5,000 or more people should implement a similar verification. However, at these indoor events, non-vaccinated people who don't show a negative COVID-19 test result shouldn't enter, the state recommends
When it comes to masking, California is planning to fully align with CDC guidance come June 15.

All of California's restrictions on travel outside the state will be lifted. Any travel restrictions down the line will be in alignment with the CDC, Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly said on a call with reporters Friday.

California is also not considering creating a vaccine passport at this time, Ghaly said. These restrictions are being lifted statewide. That means we'll be saying goodbye to what California officials call the "Blueprint for a Safer Economy." (Most people know it as the color-coded county tier system below.)

I doubt DLR falls under that outdoor/indoor venue piece and since it's a 'recommendation' anyways I wouldn't even worry about it. Sounds like June 15th is a go after all! :cool1:

The removal of the travel restrictions - and the blueprint as a whole - would seem to do away with the basis for DLR to exclude out of staters, correct?

The thing is, the live performers like Dapper Dan's CANNOT POSSIBLY cost them so much money that it eats into their profits. These are small fish, so to speak, cost wise. It's literally the least they could offer.

It reminds me of that old airline cost cutting story. Some airline served salads with 3 olives, but decided to change and serve salads with only 2 olives. Their thinking was that no one person would miss one olive that much, but meanwhile they save like half a million dollars in olive costs.

It’s corporate thinking like that that can result in things even small things being cut even if they don’t seem to add up to much individually. I’m not saying Disney is literally doing this (I have no idea what their thought process is) but it can seem that way sometimes.

I just hope they ramp up getting dining, attractions, and entertainment back along with opening up all the shops and kiosks that make the park seem more active.

was June 15 confirmed for PPH opening? Can’t remember if I’m slow but a CM told me today. Will delete if I’m just late.

I'm an out of state former AP... I went ahead and made a hotel reservation for myself and my very patient 14yo son for early October in case we get to come back. Fingers are crossed, toes are crossed.... all of it. I'm terribly terribly "homesick" and my son is too. I tried WDW for the first time in November with my husband we FAR prefer DL.

I got a flash alert from FDA/HHS today that the P1 (Brazil) and B1.351 (South Africa) variants exceeded 10% in the western states + others today (Arizona, California, Florida, Indiana, Oregon, Washington). We have to drop one of our treatments and rapidly switch to another one because of this.

I don't think this will be an issue, but it's a potential unknown that's lurking in the background. Hopefully with vaccine rates + natural immunity rates high, park ops are unaffected. It's likely international travel will remain restricted because of this, though.

Yes! The dinning is stopped for all downtown after July 11. Lamplight is open only until July 8th. And bring back carnation and the Wharf!

Can anyone comment about the restroom availability on the Harbor Blvd side before park opening? Are those restrooms before the DCA entrance open?

I don't believe there are restrooms on Harbor Blvd. before security. There are 2 sets of bathrooms in the Esplanade though. One to the left of the DCA gates and one to the left of the DL gates.
