The more you pay the better perks you get has been going on way before Chapek. Walt created Club 33 for the ultra rich. Deluxe resort guest have signature dining at the resort. Club level guest get a lounge with food and drink included with their room. They all pay more to get more. Club 33 and Golden Oaks residents get 16 FP+ per person, per day. VIP gives guest unlimited FP+ and transportation from park to park. Before we purchased DVC, we stayed Deluxe, purchased the extra 3 FP+ and used the Minnie Van service every day of our trip. Those "perks" cost us money but it was our choice to spend it. This has all been going on way before Chapek was around.
You’re 100% right. The whole thing where people here are falling on their fainting couches…there’s literally nothing new here.

Outside of that, this is a perk that every one was given. Now they have taken take it away. Next will be FP. What I don't get is how many are ok with it.

If this had a different name would folks feel better about it.? It seems most don't like it being called EMH since it's what everyone used the have. But what if they called it Deluxe Night.

Purchase dvc or stay in our deluxe resorts to get 3 Deluxe nights a week at select parks (no weekends and no MK due to after hours and partys) for 2 hours enjoy the park with limited attendance.

Everyone was also once "given" super cheap entry tickets. Times change, and business changes. They have ended an offering (in truth they ended it over a year ago) and begun a new one. Nobody has currently booked a vacation at a moderate or value based on this perk, so they aren't taking it away from anyone.

The perk was taken away from everyone when they re-opened. All we know now is they aren't giving that perk back to anyone, but are adding some kind of EMH perk for Deluxe/DVC. We don't know how often, which parks or when and we don't know how long the EMH will be. Disney has this incredibly frustrating knack of name events the same or near same thing. After Hours, Extra Magic Hours, Extra Morning Magic....good God, be original and name them different names, because they are different.

Let’s be real here. Disney took a pre-Covid perk that used to be for ALL onsite guests and repackaged it for DELUXE ONLY. This isn’t a new thing. They literally just took an old thing and made it available to some people and are calling it a “perk” to make you all feel better about paying Disney’s outrageous prices for their lame version of deluxe because they can’t be bothered to actually offer Deluxe guests better park perks. Meanwhile, they haven’t even bothered to extend park hours to pre-Covid levels (understandable until very recently) and they should be rolling this perk out NOW, not in October.

You should probably not go.

I visit at least once per year for Marathon Weekend, and the degree to which hotel prices have increased is shocking. I feel the need to justify this: I can afford to stay deluxe but I choose to go to WDW on a budget because I'm a flight attendant and I go on vacation at least once per month. Given what the values and moderates charge now, taking away a resort-wide perk and giving it to deluxe guests only is a slap in the face. "tHeY'rE nOt TaKiNg AnYtHiNg AwAy" is blatantly false.

You’re conflating two different topics.

“Pay more to get more” vs “onsite equity”.

I believe the previous poster’s point was that hotel Guests were treated equitably in the past. When you a paid for a Deluxe Resort, you got a better room in a better location with better amenities. That’s mostly it.

At WDW, it’s not as if (for example) busses come by more frequently at the Deluxe Resorts. It’s not as if the Deluxe Resort Concierge can score me a FastPass for ROTR or get me a table at a sold out SciFi the way a concierge can at a truly deluxe hotel in NYC. It’s not as if I get better room cleaning at a Disney Deluxe Resort. I didn’t get treated better at the theme park just because I was staying at a Deluxe.

Again, in the past, you paid Disney’s crazy hotel prices to get a better room at a hotel in a better location with better amenities.

This is the first time Disney has stratified its onsite Guests.

I do 5 or 6 DVC stays a year. The extra evening hours are going to be available to me. Heck, bring on some more Deluxe only benefits!

But I also recognize that this is the first time Disney is treating its onsite Guests differently at the theme parks.
This and some other posts actually make me wonder about what it was like when the first values were created, etc/the first differences emerged. I don't know enough about that history!

Dang dude, we get it. You don’t like it. You keep repeating yourself over and over. Not just on here but on the other forum as well. I personally think the dramatics from some of y’all is ridiculous. Especially, the class warfare terms being thrown around. I personally love this change. I quit going to evening EMHs a long time ago. They were so crowded that the lines were usually longer than earlier in the day. They were not a perk. However, now with limited participation, they may actually be fun again. Whenever I was invited to do a survey, I would always complain about two things. One was that good neighbor hotels were included in EMHs and two that the evening hours were crowded and not worth attending. I guess maybe the powers that be are finally listening. If y’all don’t like the change, you’re free to vacation somewhere else.

I completely understand why people are upset, however, I feel Disney had been cutting back on EMH for some time--well before COVID hit. I don't really see this as something that we used to get that now we don't. I feel like everything was transitioning to hard ticket events--both in the morning and at night. They almost had to keep MK open a little later on a Tuesday when they closed it at 7 pm on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday d/t the MVMCP or MNSSHP or the Villains Party, etc. It made the crowds insane on those non party nights where they were almost unbearable. They've been doing this for years now--pushing us toward hard ticket events. The same thing happened in the morning--you could get into the park with EMH BUT you couldn't access certain attractions unless you purchased EMM. So, in terms of losing something we had pre-COVID--IMO, it was pretty much gone anyway.
Now, in terms of Disney only giving deluxe/DVC evening EMH--granted, it's not a great look for them, but I still don't have a huge problem with it. I get it, it's frustrating that only guests from deluxes/DVC will have access to something that values/mods used to get--but let's change perspective for a bit. I've read multiple times how these Deluxe resorts are too pricey for what they offer--clearly, deluxe resort guests pay a premium for the location. We all know that they pay for this proximity to the parks, but it doesn't stop us from also using that benefit--we crowd the Poly beach, the marina at GF, or that 4th floor viewing area under the monorail at CR for fireworks/HEA--I've done it myself numerous times, and it's not like guests actually staying at the resort get 1st choice and then everyone else gets what's left over--even though I'm not paying a dime and they're the ones truly paying for that experience. This is so normal that we don't even think about it any more--I mean, I saw some people berating the CMs at the Poly because they wanted to get on the beach on New Year's Eve and the CMs wouldn't let them. I mean, c'mon, they were pissed that they couldn't join the private resort guest only party--and they were letting everyone around them know that they weren't happy. We were still allowed to sit at the tables and stand at the pool fence (not go in of course)--we just couldn't go on the beach This past spring, why do you think they had to stop non Contemporary resort guests from ordering On-the-Go from the Contempo Cafe in the morning--or why do people map out how to get dropped off and gain walking access to the Boardwalk--they want to take advantage of certain perks/advantages without paying what those resort guests' had to. We all seem to be fine having access to their perks that we didn't pay for, yet get upset when they are offered a little something extra. It seems like it levels out a little bit in the end if you ask me.

Clearly I'm in the minority, but I don't hate this idea. Let the people paying a premium to stay on the property get a small perk. Incentivize them to get to the park early, ride the E-ticket rides and then leave sooner. I see it as a measure to move more people through the park earlier. 30 minutes is barely enough time to ride 2 rides and take a pee break.

Actually, what they gave back to Deluxe/DVC guests was a vastly improved EMH's in the evening. EMH's were so crowded the past couple of years that they were worthless. I haven't been to one in at least 3 years. By significantly reducing the number allowed in, it's much more valuable and I look forward to experiencing EMH's as they were meant to be. So yes, the name is the same, the experience should be vastly different. We'll see how it shakes out as to how long they are and how often, but this isn't the same as what we had. It's better.

You make a really valid point. Using the perks at the resorts is so normalized no one has bothered to compare. Even folks staying at swan/dolphin will walk over to bc/yc area and use wdw busses so this makes people staying at these resorts wait longer for things they payed for. Or folks who try and sometimes succeed at pool hopping.. which I hope is a very small percent. But if I payed good money to be 10 min from MK and than someone just gets an Uber drop off out front to also take advantage yea it feels kinda dirty.

We pick our hotel based on the type of trip we are planning. If we want more days at the resort to relax we go deluxe but if we are planning on doing commando park touring we stay moderate or value. The prices at Swan/Dolphin have called us back several times. I do remember one year watching the fireworks from the "beach" at Poly and being a little upset that we were unable for find a spot without crowding in. It happened only once that trip but I always felt the beach viewing should be left for guests of the hotel only. WDW hotel prices are crazy but we have always found ways around them. We watch for codes or rent DVC points which is a huge savings. I'm in the minority but I do believe guest willing to pay the deluxe prices should receive a little extra. The extra time in the park is a nice perk but it really equals to no more than one extra ride, maybe two if your lucky.
