That’s enough to make me go for Globalist status. 😂😂
my wife and I were going to be about 10 days short we like the new restaurant at the local Hyatt here in Orlando (four flamingos) so I got her blessing for 412k point nights so we can keep it going another year. I'm going to try to put some spend on the card too but it's well worth it. the suite nights and the free breakfast are my fav parts of it. (and they actually recognize you ).

After all is said and done this year, I should be able to hit Globalist again. Our favorite perks are the early check in and late check out. Marriott Platinum, IHG platinum are not worth the effort trying to earn for what I’ve seen. Hilton Diamond has its uses and fortunately comes with the Aspire but I wouldn’t try to earn the status. Hyatt is different and has been worth it so far. Interestingly enough, gold status with Club Carlson always got us excellent recognition, upgrades, early and late check in and out at Radisson Blu properties in Europe. This was just for holding their credit card for $75 a year. I will miss that.

good point nothing like leaving for a 6 pm flight and being able to fart around in the hotel room at 4 vs the crowded airport lounge.

The "you lost" message felt harsh. I'm not sure I want to try again!

LOL, I was going to say the same thing. Not sorry you didn't win, just You Lost. Very rude.

Was half expecting today's wheel to contain "We canceled your upcoming flight!" as a looser message.

Just got back from WDW... Have AList status on SW so checked into my flight, A20/21/22 for my party of three the day before our flight. Figured all was good. Finishing up getting out of the hotel and checked to see if our flight was still on time with the storms rolling in that afternoon and I get a message about being on standby. A bit of panic they moved us from our direct flight to something else I notice its the same flight number and everything but I am the only one with a confirmed seat, the other two in my party are standby now. So jump on the phone with SW asking how having three confirmed boarding passes for a flight would have two change to standby, The lady was really nice and could not explain anything other than she was seeing the same thing with no notes or info on what happened. She reached out to another team and in about 20m got them removed from standby but lost their A21/A22 numbers and had late C #'s. :badpc:

DH has another offer in his Plat card to add an AU to get 20,000 points on $2,000 spend.

He's already added our only child still living at home. If I would add one of our older DDs, I know it would take a 5/24 spot, but otherwise, it wouldn't hurt their credit score if they would apply for another card or a car loan or something like that, correct??

They are neither one interested in getting additional cards right now and one is at 1/24 and one is at 2/24, but I just don't want to mess something up for them in any way for the points.

Thanks for any advice / opinions!

So they've given you the ok to add them but you're not sure you should? Is that the question? I think if they are adults, it's not something I would do.

Being an au won't affect their being able to get the card. But if it won't get used make sure it's worth the ad on the au card. Or do you mmean biz plat? If it's a biz it won't report to their cr so wouldn't matter.

Thought I'd share a mistake fare I was alerted to, which could go away at any moment. $2.7k RT in First class and mixed biz class from JFK to Bali booked through Delta on Korean Air metal. Normal price apparently $15k. Sporatic dates now through October. Also available from BOS, MCO and IAD for higher rates.

This rate is also showing on Amex Travel, but at $2300ish with the intl airline program discount, or 235k points. If you have a 35% rebate, that would be like paying 153k RT, but you'd also earn 5x points on AmexTravel and points with Delta.

I have no experience with any of this, just thought I'd share.
Will you remind me the name of the award flight search tool you use? I’m looking to book Iceland next summer. It looks like Delta have some decent flight options from PHX, but I’m considering signing up for an award finder site in case I’m missing other options.

Yes, they have given me the ok, but I'm just leary about it. They are adults - 24 & 25. They've each gotten a couple of their own cards since graduating college and are set with those, but it just seems odd to me to do it.

The only way it really would be used is by me making the spend to get the AU referral points. I think I'll just let it rest probably. To much of a question mark in my mind for the points to be worth it.

Thank you both for your thoughts!

somewhat of a dissenting opinion...my brother is a journalist and travels a lot...he happily allowed me to make him an AU on my plat and he is becoming quite a lounge diva-we both win :-) So if either of your children flies a lot (or likes to hang out in lounges) it's not a bad deal. My DD was an AU from the time she was 13 and uses them quite a lot when she flies.

ok, wow, I guess I need to research what it get them! I didn't realize they would get lounge access from this. The bad thing for them would be when I inevitably drop my AmEx plat card because I don't get a good retention offer lol!

If I'm remembering correctly, you can add an AU with a Gold card for free to a Plat account but adding an AU with their own Plat card (what they would need for lounge access) is $175 for three AUs. Can still be a good deal but a bit of a complicated cost/benefit analysis.

@AmyAnne is correct-you can add up to 3 platinum (not the free gold) AUs for $175 so you really do have to evaluate where your AUs fly and if those airports have lounges-we're all Delta loyalists so that pretty much cinches it and then my brother flies to lots of airports with Centurion Lounges and when DH flies back to visit his family, the Sacramento airport has a very nice Escape Lounge. I did the math years ago and basically 6 trips to the lounge covered the extra cost (my brother and DD each do more than that so it's definitely worth it at our house but everyone is different!).

Totally agree. DD was an AU at 14 or so and DH even made my DM an AU when we were offered points for it (with her permission of course). DD really enjoys the lounge access since she travels a lot, and DM doesn't care so we keep the card here.
