Disneyland Paris - News

I bought my AP using the French website a year ago when it wasn't available in English, it worked fine then!

I've been trying to decide if I will renew (I think my renewal window runs out next week, although it no longer matters!), I think I'm leaning toward not doing it!

Because I am curious, what is for you the tipping point to say 'not renew'?

Update, we were able to buy APs using the French website! The payment failed using my card (typical for DLP) but I was able to use PayPal. I was able to make all 3 reservations once I added the passes to the app.

Soon the talks between the unions and DLP are going to restart, but what is not helping them...

They have fired one CM allegedly because a guest complained about him when he denied them a mickey waffle with several toppings while only one was on the menu (he did do this, but that was for some friends, which is stupid, but still).

But the CM assumes he was fired because he was part of the protests within the park... and there are more stories like this where management is trying to scare CMs.

To be continued.

Last week of August is Disney Princess week in Paris. This year no cavalcade, but we get a new little show with Merida, Moana, Tiana and... both Mulan and Ping! 😀

It's cute, unfortunately they only do it 3 times a day in the afternoon.

Disneyland Paris announces Annual Passholder Party with a Villains theme.

Fingers crossed, we can see they have kept the previous improvement of working with wristbands and no character meet & greets and just shows (seriously, these were so chaotisch, best to have no characters than loads of disappointed guest).

There will be another treasure hunt, and the big question is, have they learned? Last AP party they had the big treasure hunt only in French... this did not sit well with all the non-French speaking AP holders. It is custom for DLP to ignore the non-French on evenings like this. But who knows, maybe they will surprise us!

Last AP party it took me 2 hours and a lot of stress to get tickets, maybe this time it will be better ;)

Disneyland Paris news: New drone show, new central plaza show, new spring show and news about the reopening of the Disneyland Hotel!

Disneyland Hotel reopening

It has taken a while, but we have a sort of time period for the reopening of the Disneyland Hotel which got an extensive refurbishment. It'll be the 1st quarter of 2024. Which is better than just 2024.
Reservations start as of September 12, and by then we should know more about an exact opening date.

Disney Symphony of Colours:
We will get a set of new experiences:
- A new drone show as of January 8, according to ED92, it will include a 'real parade'
Google translate gives me this translation of the press announcement, I'm a bit confused ;-)
"Indeed, an exceptional new night sequence, played around the iconic Château, will amaze young and old alike and will combine fountains, lights, projections and choreographies of drones, which will parade in front of them under the appearance of luminous floats, paying homage to an iconic nocturnal experience that marked the history of Disneyland Paris."
- A new Central plaza show as of February 10 (the 30th anniversary show Shine Brighter will end in September 2023, and after that we will have the Halloween and Christmas entertainment). Mirabel will make her first appearance in this show. Also Timon and Joy will be in this new show.
- New decorations on Main Street

New Spring show
In Spring 2024, Walt Disney Studios Park will welcome “A Musical Extravaganza Inspired by the Whimsical World of Alice in Wonderland” in the former “Stunt Show” arena in The Studios.

The location is unusual as it clashes with everything else in The Studios. For the past years Fantasyland characters do not go to the Studios, only sometimes for character training, or specific shows.

100 anniversary celebration on October 16
And that's basically it ;) lots of special things going on, on the 16th!

Rosalie in Disney Village will open in December 2023
This restaurant will replace Café Mickey in Disney Village. I was there this weekend, and slowly we can see the progress. Fingers crossed they will make the deadline (although I loved my dinner and mocktails in the Royal Pub this weekend ;) )

And the Halloween and Christmas programs are announced! Such a busy day at the press department of DLP.

For both seasons... no Castle stage show :(
And no Mickey’s Big Band.

I am going to assume that the parade is the same as last few years.

Today the first surprise pop up for AP holders starts, as expected it is Tinkerbell, and there is another surprise... Ortensia switching off with Oswald.

Can't say I am too sad not to have ordered tickets. I am not particularly a Tink fan and have met her without much of a fight in WDW and Hong Kong. And untill a few years ago, I had never even heard of Oswald, let alone Ortensia. (I think a lot of people in Europe have the same opinion of Oswald & Ortensia)
So... this wasn't for me. But fair is fair, these are rare characters for Disneyland Paris and that was what was promised.

Because I am curious, what is for you the tipping point to say 'not renew'?
My next two trips are a month apart (Disney 100 & Disney's Enchanted Christmas), I'm too scared to risk missing out on a park reservation! After what happened with my AP renewal, my nerves are officially shot.

My six days cost the same as a silver pass. I'm not sure if I'll get back to DLP within the year (aiming for Shanghai Disneyland instead!), and on the off chance that I do one more trip, I'll just shell out for tickets.

Yes, then it doesn't make sense for you now. Maybe there will be options to upgrade to Gold at a later date if you decide on more trips. Otherwise, buying seperately for an additional trip is probably more cost-effective.

Disneyland Shanghai is great! But do keep an eye on Chinese national & school holidays. I was there last week of August in 2017, and before opening we were standing in an ocean of people, it was over 90F and 100% humidity. And, in China people do not have mind standing very close together ;-)
I'd love to go back (although, Hong Kong is first on my list of Asian parks to return to)

Exactly, I'll definitely revisit AP's in the future!

Good thinking re: public holidays, I will make sure to check! I loved HKDL too, it's so chill. The castle was under construction to become Castle of Magical Dreams while I was there, I have to get back to see it + fireworks!

So, not a lot of Disneyland Paris news in the D23 announcements. We will get a M&G with the lead of the new movie Wish, Asha. And there are some pictures floating around the internet where we saw an animatronic of Kristoff for the Frozen ride, but as it's probably going to be a copy of Epcot's ride, that wasn't very exciting either. (in my opinion that is)

the hotel looks incredible. I just tried to see rates for July but my estimated wait is more than an hour. I'm not sure what date I want yet so I;ll try back later.
