Would You Stay in an Adults-Only Disney Resort?

I see a lot about "Disney is for FAMILIES". I completely agree AND families come in all shapes & sizes. My husband (70 yrs) & I (60 yrs) ARE a Family. Folks without kids doesn't mean they aren't families. Disney is for the enjoyment of all familes of all configurations and everyone has a right to their own preferences as to how that experience best suits their own family.

Hubby & I have already been thru the kids years at Disney when ours were young & now would definitely apprecaite kid-free resort time. & no, we're not partiers - neither of us drink alcoholic beverages at all - & we're most always in bed by 9:30 or 10:00 even on vacation because hubster is a VERY early riser.

Way too many derogatory "assumptions" being made regarding folks who might appreciate an adults only resort experience at - gasp! - WDW.

I was in the parks in November. There were plenty of adult only guests. So many that I actually mentioned it to my daughter (17) during the trip. Twice on the friendship boats there were ZERO kids. None. Not one.

Disney loves DINKS and SINKS (lol). Some have a lot of disposable income Disney would love to get their hands on. And in their own way they cater to them with adult only experiences in the parks (tequila tasting, V&A).
I concur, I see a lot of groups of adults without kids in the parks and resorts. I think Disney and other companies (ex. Lego) are going to double down even harder on catering to DINKS/SINKS as people my generation are having less or no kids at all.

Will the resort be value, moderate or deluxe? Will it be priced higher then regular resorts? Will it have a party atmosphere? Too many variables.

Popular is not the same as morally correct.

History is full of examples of group think that went horribly wrong.

While some might opt to stay at such a hotel, it goes against Disney's brand. Disney = family friendly. THAT is the brand.

so is it not morally correct that I as a solo passenger take up a room on Disney cruise that is meant for a family, and that me booking a cruise as a solo I am denying a family the Disney cruise experience?

so is it not morally correct that I as a solo guest in a Disney park book table service meals and sit at a 4 top table, which is denying a family the same experience?

Is that your issue, that an adults only Disney experience is denying a child a Disney experience?

One of my favorite WDW memories is the one time was actually woken up by children.

Outside my window two children were happily chanting, "We're going to Disney World! We're going to DISNEY World." Their enthusiasm made me smile, and still makes me smile over 15 years later.

Mind, they were not very loud. They didn't wake up anyone else in my family.
That's a great memory for you.

I don't have any kids, So I chant "I am going to Disney" myself.. lol..

As I said in my first post. This topic has come up in this forum a number of times, and I am far from the only person who dislikes opposes this concept.

I have tried to be civil.

Whats your opinion on the adult only places on Disney Cruise? Is it moraly wrong that there is a separate pool for adults? Do you feel that there should not be an adults only pool? Is it morally wrong that there are adult only port excursions? Is it morally wrong that there are adult only restaurants? Do you feel that it is wrong that kids are not allowed to eat at Palo and Remy?

Oh, so you support - out of 30+ WDW hotels - if WDW opened one that excludes people over age 55?
How about one that excluded white people?
Or one excluded any other group, like Protestants?

Children are no more disruptive than many adults. Personally, babies and small children tend to cry because they have no other option, or they have not yet learned to regulate their emotions. I empathize. Infants tend to cry because they are hungry/in pain and that is the only way they can communicate. I empathize.

Adults are often loud due to over-intoxication.
just wow. It is against the law to say that a person of a certain race or religion can’t stay at a hotel but it is not against the law to have age restrictions.

I totally get it if you would have no interest in saying at an adults only hotel but why are you so against it existing for adults that do find it appealing?

My goal was to stay at every WDW resort which I managed to accomplish in 2022. So yes I'd have to stay at an adult only resort if one opened. It would give me a legitimate excuse to leave our girls behind - sorry no kids allowed. I wander if they would fall for that???

Personally I think between a Mod and a Deluxe is a sweet spot but that's my personal opinion.

I'd like to say I'm not sure why people automatically leap to a party atmosphere especially at Disney. While Disney does have Food & Wine and Flower & Garden festivals at Epcot I wouldn't just assume that an adults only hotel would lead to something party atmosphere. Sometimes I think people have had limited experience with resorts elsewhere or have only had experiences with party vibes. There are a lot of places in the world that are more adult focused and that does not mean it's party because of that. Hotels and resorts usually theme themselves for certain expectations. It's like people think Disney would theme it to like a Margaritaville strictly because it became adult only (which again does not necessarily mean 21 and up).

You can try!! Funny.....

Guess all the grandparents will have to find another hotel to stay at. But personally, I’d be fine with a family only hotel. Which is kind of what they did with some sections & family suites in the values. So I don’t see the argument against adult only sections.

"Ohana means family. Family means no one gets left behind."

That = Disney
Family also applies to adults or people who have no children. Family means different things to a lot of people, that's not for you to judge or decide. It's a hypothetical question, not sure why you are so defensive. If you don't want to ever stay in an adults only hotel/resort, then don't - it's your choice. It's not discriminative or offensive for someone to want to stay somewhere without children. Even at Disney.

Yes. Exactly this. Say it again for those who didn't hear it.

I would, but to be completely honest I’m tired of rude, entitled adults most of all. I stayed at AKL and our neighbors screamed at their crying kids late at night and early in the morning, and I could hear everything through our connecting door. I went out onto the balcony to relax and watch some animals, and one of the women next door was smoking on the balcony and listening to a sermon on speakerphone. I lost it and confronted her about the audacity of spoiling a public place that’s supposed to be an escape, then burst into tears (I hate confrontation and was overcome with disappointment over what was supposed to be a nice stay), called the front desk to let them know about the smoking (which they can verify via cameras) and moved to another room which was perfect. Hats off to AKL staff for handling it perfectly.
