2010 news from the Magic

You should be able to keep the 50% off deposit since you aren't adding people. If you were to add people then the deposit would be the full amount for that person(s)

Thanks, no more room in the cabin to add peeps. I'm just transferring the bookings with all of us going. If we can convince my sister to watch the kids - the October sailing will be just DH and I, but I won't remove them until just prior to the 90 day payup - just in case.

Just to say with the Transatlantic (and I'm assuming any other specialist cruises that year) the final payment is due 120 days in advance

I will be curious how the bookings will go for these. The prices are so high, and the economy is going down and more down. We love the ship but these cruises are very port intensive, what is the point of going on Magic, we might as well just do a land vacation if we really want to go to Europe.

For the holiday cruises, both 10 night cruises conflict with kids school calendar.

We may have to skip 2010 entirely.

Thats exactly how I felt about our Med trip in 07. We love being on the ship and of course we really wanted to see all these great places as well. We felt like there wasn't enough time on the ship to really enjoy it AND we felt rushed in the ports. We said afterwards that we wouldn't do a "destination" cruise again - that we would stick with the Caribbean and/or Bahamas so that we could enjoy the ship. I would like to go to Europe again, but I think it will be a land trip (when the kids get older) so that we can see and do more. Having said that, I have to admit that I got excited seeing the itinerary; its easy to get caught up. Somehow I got a gripp, and I think we've decided to skip the Baltic/Med trip and maybe do one of the holiday ones instead.

You may want to check the Thanksgiving week trip. Its usually relatively reasonably priced compared to the others.

With the 10nt or longer cruises for 2010 the final payment will be due 120 days prior for categories 4-12

I checked with DCL two days ago, and spoke to Marilyn. If you are disabled, requiring an accessible stateroom, I was told to "Book any room on that cruise ONLINE to get the 50% Deposit. Then call in to have accessible stateroom selected. The offer will stand."

Does anyone have a link to the deposits required for the Baltic and Transatlantic cruises please?

$600pp Cat 4> Cat 12

If you book online you get 50% off this so ie $300pp.

Cat 1>2>3 $800 pp

Thanks Andrew. I am booking with DU so a full deposit required.:scared1: Fortunately we don't want a suite.

I want to do both cruises. My brain is fried trying to decide what to do.:headache:

What did you do about airfares for the TA last year? That is another problem.:scared:

If DU book online to DCL they get the 'online' 50% deposit as well, if they call DCL you pay full deposit, it doesnt matter too much as you will have to pay the full amount sometime, albiet the £/$ rate is now very poor down 15%.
Booking vacations should be a pleasure!:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

For my Eastbound Repo I booked 'open jaw' flights with BA direct on their multi city option, going into LAX and out of MCO.

But you will have to buy a 'one way' if you are on the Atlantic crossing and they can be nearly as expensive as a return, I would price up options, ie in August 2009 online with BA and Virgin.

Sorry, I thought you had done the TA last year.

One thing I was looking at was BA to Barcelona and then back from MCO. Not sure if that would count as multi city or 2 singles.

We're puzzling over the same thing from the west coast, Marilyn. Considering BA or BA/Iberia as a code share to BCN OR Aer Lingus or JetBlue/Aer Lingus to BCN (JetBlue flies out of our local airport rather than LAX). Probably won't do an open-jaw ticket for the return to LA as we have some credits on another airline that need to be used. (And the return on Jet Blue connects through New York - just a little out of the way!)

I did note that the Aer Lingus website gave us a message that suggested we call in if we needed 2010 dates.... Of course, they may simply want to tell us 'No way, Jose' in person!

Will it never be Tuesday morning....pixiedust:

No didn't do the 2007 TA, I wanted to do the Med, so many places of interest to go to and didn't want 6 days at sea in a row, don't mind 1 or 2 in a row.

Not sure re flight suggestion as they are completely different a local Barcelona one and a transatlantic flight, but work trying to put it in on the BA website and see if it works, I know on the Multi city there are many versions, mine this year was Heathrow>LA But MCO>Gatwick back so that was two completely separate trips.

It would be great to meet up on the TA Marc, as well as the Tortola cruise next year. I think it is just these airfares that put us off. I think you over there get cheaper flights to here than the other way round.

Thanks Andrew. I tried the BA website, and it comes up to book, but then when I click it says it can't be booked.:confused3 I'm guessing it would be a nono anyway.

Assuming your basing this on August 2009 as an idea for 2010, I think you cannot mix 'Europe' and 'Trans Atlantic'.

Yes, that is what I did. I'm presuming you are correct there. It would have been nice though.:rolleyes1

I get that feeling that you cannot mix sectors ie Europe and North America are different sectors.

Claire ;)
