Hey everyone! First time poster here. Have been reading up for awhile and finally joined in. My fiance and I are Disneymooning in April with a split stay BC and AKL. We are staying in the Nantucket Suite and I was curious if anyone is certain if this will be before or after the suites will be renovated. I know the club level and lounge has been updated bur did that include the suites? Thanks everyone!
Good morning my lovelies!
Last night, we had our valentines dinner, because tonight we will be waiting through another blizzard.
Of course we will be.
Anyways, DP and I had a long talk about the Polynesian and the work going on there, and as much as we were looking forward to our first stay there, I am a view guy, and with the expected work there, and the fact that everyone and their brother will be asking to not be anywhere near the work, and because our planned trip is going to be "magical," we figured we'd end up with a bull's-eye Front row view of the construction. So we made the decision to jump ship. Don't worry, we are keeping and looking forward to our BC reservation, but we have filed a request to jump ship from the Poly. Once it is confirmed I'll change my ticker and let y'all know where our new first destination will be in August!
Happy Valentines Day!
And to my fellow New England/Boston friends....here we go again! (Speaking of Bull's-eyes)
I really hope that you get out of Boston without any problems. Weather delays during precious vacation time are the worst kind.Keeping my frozen fingers crossed!!! Expecting blizzard conditions Saturday night into Sunday, another foot to 18 inches, but right now all looks clear for Monday morning.
Booked BB last month. Checked online this morning.
I think I might just switch to Orbitz - it looks like I would save about $53 per night. So much for the great BB offer.
That stinks that you didn't get a better BB deal than you could get on line. Probably makes sense to switch your reservation. If I understand correctly, the main downsides are that you don't own the reservation and you have to pay it all upfront.
Question, can you get take out at Beaches and Cream and take it to the Storm along pool area or can you only get food from Hurricane Hannahs?
Thank You
We are in the same boat on all counts. We are right outside of Boston and gearing up for the storm. I actually had to shovel my grassy yard area last night so I had a clear path for the oil delivery company to deliver to us today!
We are also staying at the Poly in August, though for only one night. It was $400 cheaper to fly from Logan to Orlando on Wednesday then it was on Thursday. The problem was that the Bounceback offer started on Thursday (8/20) so I told my wife that that I would rather spend the extra $400 on an extra night then just give it away to JetBlue. We got a great deal on a single night ($223) at the Poly from the travel company others on here have recommended that shall go nameless (I guess it's not allowed to be mentioned on the site) for the one night, 8/19. We won't have passes or the dining plan so I figured we could hang at the resort pool and maybe hit Downtown Disney at night. The more I read about the construction the more I worry though. I know the main construction (lobby, pool) will be done by then but I'm worried that there will be other construction that messes with our stay. I've always wanted to try the Poly but was hoping it would be under ideal circumstances. I'm not sure what to do now. Only other options are GF (garden view), CR (garden wing) WL (standard view) and maybe YC if still available. I was told the BC sold out at that discounted rate.
My wife is a BC girl through and through so she would be a hard sell on the Poly even in perfect conditions! I think I may just follow your lead and try for the YC. Wish me luck!!
Jay
I'm sending some good thoughts, prayers, and pixie dust to all of our dear BC/YC friends in New England! Let the storm NOT rage on!
Happy Valentine's everyone!
Having stayed at YC several times, we were thinking of switching it up and trying BC this time. We have 3 young children and they are excited about a new place, even if it is a stone's throw. The only thing holding us back is the question of a balcony. We will be booking standard view, will have a day bed to accommodate 5 and we're wondering about our chances of getting a full balcony with those details in mind. We use it every evening to plan the next day's details while the kids sleep relatively early and have become pretty attached to this feature! I know this is a frequent question here and the odds are ever changing, but I'm looking for some expert input and theories. Thanks so much for any guidance.
It all depends on how much you want that balcony. If it is really important to you then stay at the YC. There is no guarantee that you will get a full balcony at the BC. I tried to get pictures of the standard view rooms in order to check the balcony status. I noticed that the 3rd floor rooms in the section over the large, flat roof had full balconies and the fourth floor rooms had standing balconies, which makes it a 50/50 deal. There are other sections of the resort with standard view rooms which may have different balcony configurations, but I don't know them. The BC is interesting because the balconies are laid out per floor but vary from section to section. So the 4 story section closest to Epcot might have standing balconies on the 3rd floor while another section has full balconies on the 3rd floor. It is really hard to determine what you may get based on the floor or view or location.Happy Valentine's everyone!

It will be fun to go exploring from the CR. Not only will you have the monorail for quick trips to the other resorts, but you will have the boat to WL and FW for more fun. You'll be able to see the Electric Water Pageant at night, too, something you don't get at Crescent Lake. There are some great dining options, too, almost too many to mention. But getting to the WL for Artist Point or FW for a meal there is a lot easier from the CR than it is from the BC.I got the confirmation from our travel agent an hour ago. We will now be starting our trip at the CR! Call me shallow, but view is important, and we're staying in the garden wing at CR with a standard view. I know it won't be the world's greatest view, but I know exactly what it will be, and that makes me feel more comfortable! We've also never stayed at CR, so it's checking another box off the list.
I'm not answering definitively, but I can't imagine why not! Anyone else want to chime in?
Well...we jumped ship. See below.
Oh, it's going to...and the weather folk are already looking ahead here to both Wednesday AND next Sunday....Sheesh.
A couple of thoughts....
My understanding is that at BC/YC...even having five does not guarantee you a daybed. They will roll in a cot if you don't get a daybed. I'd make it a request on your reservation. If a balcony is a must for you, then if i'm being totally honest, I'd stick with YC, because, like the daybed, there's really no promise. We had a small balcony on our last BC trip, and it was fine, but we go in August, and don't linger out there. If you stick with BC, decide what's more important to you, the daybed or the balcony, and request both, with the most important listed first. Then when you check in, politely ask if your requests have been met. If the answer is no, again, politely ask if there's any possibility that there's a room available that would meet your requests, and say you are willing to wait for it if possible. I can't imagine that the BC staff wouldn't try to get you what you've requested at that point. Good luck with your planning!
Now as for us.

I also plan on stealing stuff, because we've decided that the CR is what we want our house to look like. Gonna be rough though getting that Norwegian-high end-looking sink out of there though. NinjaMom, any tips? I feel like you have one of the daybeds from BC at your house...right? Ya know...the one everyone requests...
The only take-outs allowable at Beaches and Cream are ice cream, drinks, etc., as it is consdered to be a table service restaurant. They will not let you order entrees or sides for take-out.Question, can you get take out at Beaches and Cream and take it to the Storm along pool area or can you only get food from Hurricane Hannahs?
Thank You

If this tweet from Boston's WBZ weren't so sad, it would be funny.
