im figuring out what classes i am going to take this summer and my history choices are western civ to 1648, or western civ since 1648..
which one should i go for?

I have taken both. I would say if you love the Greeks and Romans take till 1648 but if you love the midddle age and everything past that like world war one and two then take the ohter. Really just think about witch period of history you love more. I am somewhat of a classical studies major so I of course loved western civ one. :teacher:

Personally, I would take Western Civ since 1648. At the end of this term, I will have completed the UCLA western civ series through 1715 (taking 1715 to present next term) and although I enjoyed learned about the Egyptians/Greeks/Romans/Middle Ages/Renaissance, I enjoy more modern history. I think ultimately you should pick based on what areas you are most interested in.

I also prefer Modern Civ II!! The issues surrounding ancient Greeks and Romans don't completely fascinate me since war was so prevalent! (although Mesopatamia is cool in I).
