Aug/Sept HHI -- ALMOST THERE! :)

Going for our 15th wedding anniversary in late Aug.

Saved up a bunch of points and doing 5 nights at BCV, 2 at VB and 5 more in HH.

But, more importantly, we going to HHI in just a few days!

DW and myself will be in a 1BR July 31-August 6. This trip will be just two weeks after we spend a week siteseeing Las Vegas, Grand Canyon and Arizona.

BTW - I'm still looking for someone who will be there the same time as myself and would be interested in playing a round of golf. I'm not a great golfer (bogey+), but I do enjoy playing. If you will be there during that week and would be interested, please let me know.

Wow, lots of anniversaries in Aug / Sept mentioned! Our (mine and DH's) 15th, TW1's 15th, cruise-o-matic's 17th, gharrer's 21st... and folks say JUNE is the month for weddings, eh?

We actually honeymooned in Kiawah Island -- not too too far away! Can you believe it, though -- I lived in S.C. for 24 years and have never been to HHI! Myrtle, too many time to count; Fripp Island, check; Charleston and Beaufort, affirmative; but never HHI!

I AM SOOOO LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS!

I feel like I'm wishing away my summer, though! I think any future HHI trips will need to be at the START of summer! Darn that baseball season... always in the stinkin' way!

Gopherit - Thanks for adding us to the roll call at the front and including my looking for a golfing partner. Maybe this will help me in my quest.

I have to say I'm real excited about our HHI trip. We probably won't do much as far as the organized activities, though I am very interested in the Shrimp boil. Also, we might rent bikes one day and also one day maybe rent kayaks. Other than that DW loves to bake in the sun, while I love sitting back just vegging, reading, listening to music and drinking a few brewskis. We both love seafood so looking forward to going out to eat each evening also. And the greatest part will be knowing when we leave, that since we now have an add-on there, we can do it over again year after year.

May I be so bold as to ask if you did your add-on there via resale or DVC? I am hoping that we might do an add-on in the next 12 months -- I sort of have it narrowed down to HHI and OKW. It's so easy to addon with DVC, but as these are sold-out resorts, I'm unsure how long a wait we might encounter.... Similarly, I am unsure, for a small add-on (say 100 pts), how viable resale is, once you factor in closig costs, etc. Seems like resale would be more viable for a larger contract (say, 200 pts or more).

And glad to help out in your quest for a golf partner any way I can!

May I be so bold as to ask if you did your add-on there via resale or DVC?

We did our add-on thru DVC. We called our guide and he checked and HHI was available, so we just bought directly from them rather than go the resell route. My DW surprised me completely with this. I had not really been thinking about an add-on, but she loves the beach and wants to be able to go to it for a week every year so came up with the idea and paid for the add-on herself. Really surprised me as she is not the Disney nut that I am.

This is our only contract and we went via the resale route. Got all 12/04 points and 55 banked 12/03 points. We were able to give my parents 2 nights at the end of Jan and our Sept stay uses up the rest of our banked points and 4 of the '04 points.

We banked the rest of the 196, of which we are using 46 for our Dec stay at BCV. Then we plan to use 200 for a 2 BR in June '06 stay w/my sis's family and wind up banking 150. Hopefully, we can run a surplus for a few years until our DD wants to start taking friends, then we'll have to use up more points on 1 or 2BR's.

DVC route is easier but at the current ROFR threshold, we saved $3K on our 200 points going resale.

I called and made ressies for the shrimp boil this morning for Thursday, August 4. I asked if we needed to make ressies for the dolphin cruise ahead of time and the CM said no. BTW - this was about the nicest, most polite CM I've ever run across.

I will be at hh august 28 - sept - 3rd. I have three kids, 7(G),3(G) and 8(B) months. We are ready for our second trip as DVC members. I just bought HH in January and this is our second trip as DVC memebers. I just got back from WOW stayed at the BWV. The banked points are great. Anyway, I hope I can meet some of you that week.

Any body been there the last week of August. Does things change as this is the first week of the low seanson?
