I sent an email a little while after if was announced. Eventually got the basic application and sent that back, then got the invite to a meet and greet — we’re going in Aug.
We’ve been going to WDW 1-3 times a year for 13 yrs, have been to DL and done
DCL, rD, you name it I guess. We have a ton of DVC points, Disney VISA, blah, blah. Have done a couple of VIP tours, stay deluxe, etc. Though per
@Malcon10t, none of this matters, I guess!
Feels like we might have jumped on it 10yrs ago when the kids were really young... not so sure now, but still interested in finding out more.
Must admit that I was getting amused at reading everyone refering to this as an “interview”, when we’re approaching it as a meeting at which we’ll get info for us to decide if we’re interested or not. We must be idiots.
After reading this thread, I’m beginning to feel like I’m back applying to private schools in DC for my kids! LOL! We really approached it like us deciding if we wanted to have our kids attend those schools — but then once we had a favorite we felt like we were constantly auditioning!!
There's not a lot those of us who have gotten to or past the interview stage can share, but I can reiterate that it really has nothing to do with net worth. I was never once asked for financial information during any point of the process. I'm sure what they are looking for is largely "we'll know it when we see it".
Must admit, though, that it seems odd for them to waste time touring people who would not be in a position to join if offered. Especially when it’s SO EASY to get basic financial info on someone once you have their name and address.
I do work with a NPO, and there’s a lot we can do to assess someone’s “capacity to give” — and we do.
They wouldn’t have to ask you to get a basic sense.
They do use the above to determine pricing, discounts, offers, etc to a mass group. But they don't pinpoint individuals this way.
And this is something I have always found ridiculous about Disney (besides their IT operation). Casinos target individuals — and Disney has such rich info at their disposal. This was part of a semester-long paper I wrote as part of an MBA strategy class years ago. Makes no sense to me. Unless they ARE doing it now in some capacity and none of us here know it.
They are not going to target groups (with the exception of 2) and saying "Come join", they are relying on those interested to come to them.
Makes sense! But why wouldn’t they do a basic ability-to-pay assessment once you send them your interest? Better use of their time and resources than touring large numbers who are curious and would love to join but cannot ultimately do so. And that’s more people out in the world who might violate your NDA — why do that?
I've been told the waitlist is 8 years as of last week.
For DL or WDW? I didn’t think it works quite that way.
