Disney Skyliner (Gondola Transportation System) Read Post 1 Now Open!

They want the Skyliner running for SWGE so I expect it to be running (all lines) before riviera is open.
I think they'll open it all. But if getting it open for SWGE is the goal, the Epcot line will have no hotel rooms on it until Riviera opens. So there'd be no impact to DHS transportation with not having the EP line going.

True but Epcot area resorts could still use the Skyliner if they want. CBR guests can also use that line to travel to Epcot.

The CBR->Epcot leg will still serve Pop, AoA, and CBR guests going to & from Epcot regardless of Riviera not being open.
Friendship boats will still serve YC/BC, BW, and S/D guests going to & from DHS.
BC guests in particular will still be able to choose Skyliner over boat if they desire.

The "Riviera" station is separated enough from the hotel that the station itself could be open even if the hotel isn't. It's convenient for some CBR guests.

Good point - some of th CBR rooms are definitely closer to the Riviera station than the main hub

Yes, obviously if the Epcot line isn't open people won't be able to use it to get to Epcot even though they would be able to if it was open.

While the boardwalk area hotels will have people use it, they weren't the focus of building it and it will not replace any of their normal transportation.

Like I said, I think the plan is to probably open it all together, however the CBR - DHS line has obviously been the priority since the start of construction. I'd bet money they'd open it by itself for SWGE if the others aren't ready for some reason. Based on recent pictures I think the POP line will be the next to start testing.

I think it has been previously mentioned that the London system is about the only major gondola line that has it and it doesn't really work. In London. Where the weather is no where near as hot as Florida. They can't add tech that doesn't exist.

The SkyCab at the Wynn Palace Macau Resort and Casino is also air-conditioned.

From the looks of it, the SkyCab is more of an attraction than a honest-to-goodness transportation system. The entire system is only about 2,100 feet (650 meters) and you only ride half that distance in a single ride.

I'm not sure what the official numbers are, but the according to Bing Maps, the distance from Disney's Hollywood Studios to Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort is at least 3,600 feet (1,100 meters).

No clue if the Wynn SkyCab has the same sorts of air-conditioning problems reported with the London system.

push it back 15 days til june 15th and i'll take it haha.

I have two trips planned for this summer. June would be awesome. I'm very curious about how these stand up to the buses as far as transport goes. Now that we're out of the stroller phase with our kids, the buses are less painful, but still not ideal compared to other options. I prefer boats or walking, but the gondolas would definitely open up other options for us. My family loves the Epcot resorts because it's so easy to pop into the world showcase, for example. But if the time frame is pretty short, I could see us staying at CSR and taking the gondola over to spend a few hours there.

Obviously we will have to see, but they should be much more efficient than buses

Also, you said CSR, but I assume you meant CBR as the gondolas are at Caribbean Beach, not Coronado Springs

I am hoping someone can help me. We are hoping to book at a gondola resort for our next trip. My partner’s mother uses an ECV. Is something she would be able to board safely while on the ECV? Will they be able to stop the cabin for her to board? I am not sure if she will be able to maneuver the ECV while the cabin is moving. Thank you so much for any help!
