Flickr

I did a search for my Smugmug name (which is used in the link text when I link my photos) and I found two different people were using Disney photos of mine. One on a Pakistani Cricket discussion board and the other on a less than family friendly board. Luckily they are just some generic Disney photos (a ride sign and one from the Aladin show) and not any of my family.

Makes me wish Smugmug had an easier way for me to track who was viewing my photos and what they do with them (download/link/etc). I know I can password the galleries but that makes it harder for family and friends to browse my photos.

I have noticed a lot of traffic on my Flickr page from 'Unknown Sources' as well. Mine is kind of sporadic- like 20 one day- 100 the next- I have no idea. And Flickr does not include the user-name in the url like Smugmug does so it may be hard to find. :confused3

You've pretty much done what I do when I get a photo with lots of mystery hits. I Google or other search engine the photo - by URL, name, subject, and then even just my gallery name and links. Sometimes you get lucky and find them, sometimes not. I found some of my photos linked in very strange places - some photo boards in China and Romania when I got a fairly new model camera that wasn't sampled alot yet...one photo from a cruise gallery that was of a yacht in Bahamas suddenly started getting a bunch of hits, and I finally tracked it to a yacht board. But I have some others that I can't find any way to track, but can see the photos have been direct linked 5 or 6 times, and I've only direct linked once...I can't seem to find anything in the search engines.

I'm sure a lot of you are already aware of this, but perhaps it will be helpful for someone.

These are various add-ons for Flickr; I have found that they simplify integration with other sites (AllSizes+ is GREAT for posting images on forums). I figure since a lot of people here use Flickr and Firefox, that this is probably worth posting.

First, you must install Greasemonkey if you don't already have it: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748

Some of these are YMMV - the ones I use are below:

Have been having problems using the mass uploader on their site? :( I haven't been able to get past 35% and get as low as 9%. I resized my photos and I am a pro user.

I'm getting ticked off.

No, it never worked. I did get a program I downloaded to work... finally!

i was trying to upload just now and the single one wouldn't work but the multiple one would...fixed one and the other broke??:rotfl2:

Okay for all of you that post photos that someone can click to take them to your Flickr page (Tom, Scott, Jeff)----how in the world do you do it?! I can't get it to work and the more I look and try to figure it out, the more confused I get.

Anyone? :santa:

Thanks!
Ann

Thanks, Tom!

Just doing a test shot. Urggggggg, it didn't work. I can see the picture, but I can't click it to get to Flickr.

Ann have you tried posting the pic, highlighting it then clicking on the link thingy and pasting the http for your Flikr? That's how I post digi lay outs for credits.

^^ that's how I do it too... get the
link and paste it in your comment box, then highlight it and click the hyperlink icon (earth with the chain link) and a popup box will appear. Then past your link in there and it should link directly to the flickr page.

Thanks to you both! I have got it to the point where there is a click-able photo that links to a Flickr url, but it isn't bringing it to the page on my Flickr that displays the EXIF, etc. Shouldn't be it? I'm sure I'm still doing something wrong.

I need to clarify what I typed the first time. First, cut and paste the link from flickr into the disboard comment box like you would normally do, then highlight that entire link and click copy, then click the hyperlink icon and paste your [img] link in the popup box that appears, then click o.k. and it should form the link you want that takes you to your flick page.

hope that clears it up.

I haven't tried that greasemonkey script that Tom mentions, but I'm going to try it out since the way I do it is kind of a pain.

LOL, Ann, it's frustrating at first but when you finally figure it out it becomes second nature. I've never tried the actual EXIF page just the addy and then people can click on "more info." DD actually had to show me how after several people tried to help me figure it out.

Todd, I think you're giving yourself an extra step? I never copy the

I do it the same way as Todd. Need to look at the FF plugins because it's tedious. Looks like AllSizes+ generates the code needed for the board automatically; something I wish Flickr would do natively.

Edit: test... the code below was generated with AllSizes+
