Mickey's very merry Christmas Party

That's true about the rain date. I forgot MVMCP doesn't start until 7pm. I still think you should attend. This is a great party.

We're going to be there in late November as well, and we're going. I read that in November the only way to see the Christmas parade and fireworks are at the party, so that's the primary reason we chose to go. I have been to Disney parties before, and it was really fun, so I am looking forward to it. We are not character meet and greet people (that's why we do character meals), and it seems like if you are going mostly for that, then you will be disappointed.

After being to Disneyland, I don't think crowds could bother me, lol.

I see that at Christmas the castle is covered in lights. Do they only light it up during the Christmas Party nights or any evening during the season? I am not sure if I can afford a party ticket, but I would hate not to see the pretty castle lights! Also, does anyone know if the "regular hours" are more crowded on a party day or non-party day? Thanks!

It is lighted on nights other than the party nights!;)

Back in 2008 we went to the party for the first time. It was on the 18th and it might have been the worse experience we ever had. First we sceduled dinner at crystal palace with our whole group. The food and service was horrible. It was the last bit of thebuffet and things were dry out and servers where tired. Then the crowds were beyound crowded. We had been at the MK all day and the crowds seemed to triple compared to the day time crowds. We couldn't get to any shows because of the crowds and then trying to find a spot for the parade the crowd knocked over a older woman and my son and stomped both of them. My son was brused and scraped up. We grabed him up (6'1/ 400lb hubby) and headed towards the front of the park two hours into the party. On our way out I wanted a party pin. Iwas told that the pin I wanted was only for pass holders and I could only buy the one that was a snow glob with too much glitter in it. I got upset and then a lady verbaly laid into me about how pass holder should get special privledges. So we paid almost 60 per person for 2 hours of hell. To find out the parade and fireworks could be seen the next day at the park.

I swore I would never go back!

Now after a few years to cool down I believe every thing deserves a 2nd chance. So we are suprising my almost 13 year old with the party. We have dinner resv. at cali gril at 5:30 and then we are planning to act like we are going to take the bus back to the resort and take a turn back into the party. I am hopeing that with my hubby and I both in scooters(me do to pending ankle surgery and hubby neropathy) we won't have as many problems. My hubby said that if it is as crowded he is throing my son on the scooter and going. I pray because we are going on the 14th it won't be as crowded!

We are not gonna go to the parks till 12/19 so does that mean we can see the parade at night then

Can I make a suggestion? While Cali Grill is amazing, it can be a long meal. You might be lucky to get out by 7 PM. I would suggest canceling the ADR so that you can be in the MK doing something when the party starts. You guys could always grab a quick meal in the park, one of you go sneak off to get the wristbands and then surprise him with it a little later. You could also see if you could get an ADR either earlier or somewhere in the MK or one of the other MK resort hotels.

I for one can not wait for this!!!!! Wish we could have went in November but...We went to the Halloween party last Fall and we just loved it. It was not extremely crowded and the Parade was the absolute best.
I mostly can't wait to see the look at my kids faces during the VMC parade, the castle and the fireworks.

We'll be going on Dec 13 - I think it will be the first time at Disney for 4 out of the 5 in the group and we can't wait for this. Might as well experience it while we're there

My Family and I have gone for about 4 years in a row now, and have never gone to the Christmas Party. we have tickets for Dec16th(Sunday Night). How does this work?. Do they clear the park out first?I have a son who has Autism so i want to be careful. any info would be helpful. also where is a good place to watch the parade. I thought up by the train station when you first walk in.
thanks in advance

They don't clear the park out before the party. If you have a ticket for the event you can enter MK starting at 4:00PM. They will give you a bracelet. After 7:00 they will escort everyone without a bracelet out of the park. Have fun :santa:

We are trying it for the first time this year too. This is not the first hard ticket event we have attended went to the Pirate and Princess Party in 2007 which we enjoyed. MVMCP is expensive, yes but for us who are only staying 3 nights/4 days on a room-only reservation it was actually cheaper to get MVMCP tickets than a one day ticket. I am hoping we will enjoy it, I am willing to try anything once.:santa:

I am going on Dec. 11, and I am so excited. We have never visited Disney during the holidays and I had an opportunity to attend a training class in Orlando, so I jumped at it. I am going to spend one night at Disney and do the party. The only other hard ticket party we went to was Princess & Pirate and we loved it. I will be doing this solo, so it will be very different.

Here is my generic response to this question :)

I used to love MVMCP, but it not not a good value for the money anymore. The number of tickets they sold (past) used to make the parks very easy to navigate, but each year they sell more and more tickets and so it is like the transition of regular hours and EMH throughout the entire party. Also, they have cut-back quite a bit. The first party I went to in 2002 had a lot more entertainment, there were so many more decorations you would not believe it, we received a photo, the cocoa and cookies were good back then and we paid $27 for our party ticket. 9 years later, most all of that is gone and the tickets are close to $70.

So, if you have money to spend to go to a busy EMH, you are buying a special parade and a special version of Wishes (for the most part).

My thoughts exactly! We used to love it but now it's so crowded that I just wanted to leave. There's just no point.

We attended the MVMCP in 2010 and it was the highlight of our trip! My DDs were literally able to stay on-rides multiple times, we took pictures with almost every character in their Christmas outfits and we watched the parade with a CM right in front of us - my girls received a personal wave and hello from SO many characters. I realize that it is an added expense but for us, it was well worth it.

I don't think I could go back during this time of year and not attend the party.

Just a question do any of you know the offical dates of the party? i asked in another thread and they said they werent released yet but if someone has tickets then that means they are released :) thanks

This is an old thread. The above posts were from last year. I haven't seen any dates released for the 2012 MVMCP as of yet.

I happened to catch it was an old thread but since someone jumped it up I will ask this being our first time at wdw in December. If the dates work out for out trip dec 15-27 it is really only neccessary to do the party one time right? We don't need to pay for multiple nights if we have the option do we?
