1. This is a pretty cool place for a honeymoon photoshoot:

The hike down is rocky but pretty easy.

2. The lavender farm (https://aliikulalavender.com/) is a nice 30 minute stop on the way up to Haleakala

3. Whenever I'm on Maui I make it a point to pick up some cookies from Maui Cookie Lady, Kula Strawberry jam from Jeff's Jams, and guri guri from Tasakas.

Keep in mind that the traffic to/from Kaanapali can be atrocious at all times of day, not just during rush hour. There is a single two-lane road that serves the entire West side of the island. A single accident can snarl traffic for hours.

I'm not sure what altitude you're allowed to after a dive, but there's not much to see without going pretty high, like 8000 feet. You have to get that high to get above the vegetation and really see the volcanic rock/soil and I don't think you can even see the observatories until past 9000. The viewing areas that let you see into the crater are at about 10,000. I vote for a resort day; it looks beautiful!

Molokini is #1 on my list for next trip!
