Routine Physical?

I am scheduled for a Pet Scan on Thursday. It will take place. Fortunately, it will be done in my oncologists office. It is a separate office used only for testing and radiation treatments, so very few people there at a time. I'm not crazy about going in, but I need the tests to determine if I should continue chemo treatment or if I am in remission.

I hope it goes well for you on Thursday! I have a co worker going for a similar procedure on Thursday as well...

My doctor's office requested that I not come in for my routine follow-up visit last week unless necessary. I really just needed a Rx refilled and they called it into the pharmacy.

What are they screening for? People can appear perfectly healthy and infect others.

Yes, have they not heard that some people are asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic spreaders? The doctor could be sick already and not know for another 14 days from now. :scared:

I couldn’t agree more, trust me. Especially since I just had my cholesterol checked in December. It shouldn’t be different.

Actually for cholesterol and some other routine blood tests I wish insurance would cover the cost of me going to Quest Diagnostics. I can request my own tests on a much more convenient schedule and get my results online. If it is too high or changed too much I could then make an appointment with my doctor. I can even share the results with my doctor for him to review. We can save a lot of money in this country by doing away with a lot of the unnecessary doctor visits and replace them with more cost effective alternatives. Hopefully the move towards teledoc visits will become the norm once the pandemic is behind us.

I have to go to the hospital today for bloodwork. It’s the most exposure I’ve had in a month. I’m not looking forward to it.

I see my Neurologist in 2 weeks, not sure if she’ll make it a phone/video appt or not, they are asking us not to call yet, they’ll reach out 2 days prior to discuss. I suspect she’ll want me to come in, the things she normally measures can’t be done online.

I have my 6 month visit with my allergy doctor in a couple weeks. The office has sent emails that they are still open. I am trying to decide if I should keep or cancel the appointment. My doctor left so I will be seeing a new doctor in the group. I am just worried if I have to cancel that I will not get another appointment for several months and allergy season is already starting to pick up here. I always make my follow up appointment at my current appointment since it is hard to get appointments less than 2-3 months out.

My dentist is also scheduled for this month. They were closed until around now, but thinking they will cancel, but if they don't I will cancel the appointment. It is just for a cleaning and I am not going in for that right now.

All of my children have birthdays in the next 2 weeks so their well child exams are scheduled in the coming weeks. The pediatricians office called to reschedule DS1's appointment but stressed the importance of keeping the appointments to keep immunizations up to date. They have adjusted office policies such as no siblings can attend, only one parent, well child exams in the mornings only, toys removed from waiting room etc. I'm not sure why they rescheduled but they just moved it to the next day.

No way would I step into a Dr's office for a routine check-up during the months of this emergency.
Same goes for visiting a dental practice unless it was urgent.

Many practices have a secure login email available to request a prescription refill.

My dh has a several specialist providers he sees regularly. They are all doing phone and computer visits currently for most needs.

Seriously, this.
And that goes for everyone in the office staff or not.

On the other hand, if there is a very good reason to be seen in person, that is understandable.

My dental cleaning has been postponed indefinitely and they will call me when things resume.

I am required to maintain a medical clearance for my job. I am not due this month but I think those that are due this month have been given a temporary extension.

The problem with waiting is that how long will you wait? I don't think things are going to be better in a few months. This thing is not going anywhere IMO. We could be a year or more away from a vaccine. I think we are just going to have to live with this for a while so we will have to adjust and go about normal life at some point. Not sure how long we can stay quarantined for.
