What was the underlying cause of the pancreatitis?

Prayers that he gets well soon.

Thank you for your prayers.

I don't know for sure but he is probably 100 pounds over where he should weigh, does not exercise at all, is a Type 2 Diabetic and eats a high fat diet. I think are all contributing factors.

I don't think any of those would cause acute pancreatitis, though might contribute to his recovery. The two main causes are gallstones and alcohol abuse. Then there is excess fats in the blood(not cholesterol), excess calcium, hereditary, a particular scorpion sting!!!:confused3, injury to the pancreas say in a car accident, problem within the pancreas(pancreatic divisium)or a mutation of the cystic fibrosis gene. There are other causes too. I believe 20% or so are idiopathic, or no known cause, but many are believed to be caused by an 'occult' gallstone, a gallstone that went through the bile duct, blocked the pancreatic duct for a while, or even just scratched it, and then went on its way not to be found on the ultrasound scan.

He needs to find out which of those caused his pancreatitis.

Thank you for all the nice comments about my "almost-DIL" story. Hayley, I didn't mean to make you cry!

Corinna I love the second picture - think that's the Ivory one isn't it? It looks so unusual and pretty! Like the first one too though just love the detail on the second one!

I agree! They are both gorgeous, but the second one would be my favorite. Regardless, he'll be swept away in awe when he sees you!!

This reminds me of the time we were in Florida and we went to a place called Cheeburger Cheeburger.....

We used to have Cheeburer Cheeburger here in Columbus. I was so sad when it closed! They have awesome choices for a good, fattening cheeseburger, not to mention the wide variety of milkshakes! Indeed a place to go to when you just need comfort food because it definitely isn't a place you want to go to every day!! Tony was VERY brave to take on the Wall of Fame challenge!

Hey Everybody - I have not caught up yet because I was not on the boards yesterday - we received some bad news. My husband lost his job yesterday so we are in limbo. I am still on the cruise!!!

It is just a curve in the road I know and life could be worse - a lot worse, so we are smiling and together and he is working hard. Just wanted to let you all know that is why I have been so quiet. MISS reading.

As for the wedding dress, at the moment I can't make up my mind between those two styles, but I suppose I will have nearly another year before I need to make up my mind.

For both I am leaning towards ivory rather than white.

Corinna

I love both dresses. I do like the strapless style a little more. I know with wedding dresses you often have to try them on to see which style looks best on you. For my DD's wedding, she must have tried on hundreds of gowns until she found the perfect one. Just as for me, when she tried on the "perfect" dress, she know that was the "one".

Just my thoughts...

Thanks Sarah. I am feeling better today. Throat has gone down so all good.

Don't blame you with the tomato thing. They are a weird texture/look!

I hate Kiwi! You are the first person I know to be allergic to them though!

No allergies for DH, myself or kids. Some food sensitivity for me but no outright allergies.

My husband used to not like tomatoes as a child because he thought they had sticks in them. When forced to eat them, he would get ill because of the thought of "eating sticks".

I didn't like the color of chocolate ice cream and still don't like or eat it to this day. Worst ice cream on the planet for me in rocky road as it has both things I really hate, marshmallows and chocolate ice cream.

Worst vegetable is lima beans as to me they taste like chalk.

Isn't if funny how sometimes things that you dislike in childhood can follow you into adulthood? Or vice versa, things you hated as a kid are now your favorite food?

Just my thoughts...

So sorry to hear your news. They are tough times at the moment.:sad2: Pleased you are still on the cruise though, which will give you both something to look forward to while your husband gets another job!:thumbsup2

Oh Man - so sorry to hear about this. Keep wondering when things might turn around and people can at least breathe a little easier.

Definately! My sister hates mushrooms and the taste makes her feel ill because she just thinks they are horrible!

That's horrible :sad2: Best wishes to both you and dh, I hope something turns up soon

He needs to find out which of those caused his pancreatitis.

Well hopefully the doctors should be doing their best. If not then push for him to see a Pancreatic specialist if they still say it is Acute Pancreatitis.

I agree Joe needs to get to the root of the problem so he can avoid future attacks.

Being in an HMO and only because this was an emergency admission is he immediately seeing a Gastroenterologist which from my readings on the subject seems to be appropriate. She seems to be running all the tests that the Mayo Clinic specialists site seem to recommend. Hopefully, Joe will an answer soon.

So what's more wrinkle free, or wrinkle less???

I usually wear leggings and a loose shirt to be comfy. I also remove my bra when I am ready to sleep.

Chico's has some really nice clothes that don't wrinkle much and can easily be hand laundered and dry fast if necessary. http://www.chicos.com/store/home.jsp

Annie:cool2:

Our pool is up to about 82 with all the heat. Really nice to swim in that temp.

I think a lot of us will be arriving just a bit tired and disheveled, but who cares? That means our cruise is about to begin!!

As for shoes/socks on the plane, wearing socks to the bathroom is totally gross. If the socks soak up what's on the floor, then what's to stop the stuff on the floor from completely soaking the socks and then soaking into the bottom of your feet? Just the thought of that makes me . I always wear slip on shoes which are easier for security anyway. I take them off once I am situated, but they go right back on if I'm heading to the loo (okay, I'm not from UK but how often do I get to use that word?).

Okay, I have caught up. Thanks for all the kind words and pixie dust. I will keep my "dis" family informed. I am making lemonade!

Terapin - good luck with the lasik. My "eyes" are not eligible.

The wedding gowns are gorgeous - love them both.

The MIL stories are scary and funny - I adore my MIL. I lost my mom 8 years ago and although she is not mom, she is the next best thing!

I love the pictures of the sandwich - the Darrell sandwich. We saw a show on the Food Network - I think it was "You can eat that" it was a special or something, but anyway, my husband laughed because that is his name. I am glad someone I know ate it and said it was good.

Steffy - her comment about the socks on the plane made me laugh. First time I laughed in 24 hours! Thanks Steffy - your comments were so sweet and cute. Thank you!

Okay, I am sure I forgot somebody or something, but I will get back to worrying about my husband -

Oh that stinks! Of course it's cooler than being outside the pool, but it would be great to REALLY cool off.

Hey Everybody - I have not caught up yet because I was not on the boards yesterday - we received some bad news. My husband lost his job yesterday so we are in limbo. I am still on the cruise!!! ....

Giving you more   ! I have faith it will all work out to Darrell's advantage!

...and then you need a plastic bag for them....

Yea. I'm with you. No way I would go to the bathroom with only socks on!
