Something About Nothing............ #14

Yep, nothing nicer than meeting one of your best friends when you least expect it!!!

Tom just heard a squeal and knew I`d met someone, alarmed a few folks around us but hey ho....haven`t seen her in about a week lol.....

Went for a tea in the coffee shop and then we headed away as we were dropping some things off for other friends who are stuck at home right now. But, it`s a beautiful day, and definitely much warmer than it has been, lighter jackets finally needed. Headed back to get our seafood for tonight, looks lovely, shrimp and scallops are huge!

Might get out and potter around the garden this afternoon, or maybe not as our gardener is coming and he gets nervous when I show an interest.

Time for lunch, will get those bi fold doors open for sure in the kitchen, as log as the wind stays calm.

Terminal E is where I always go out of, as SW was late to the game. Safe travels on your flight home, Charade. And hope you take off on time. At least there are stores and food open at the airport, this time of day. Little bit of a hike from B to F. At least can do without having to go through security again. Now you know how long my flights are. Why I don’t like any flight South that isn’t direct.

I am so ready to leave. Not yet. Sigh. A long day feeling.

Currently sitting in the Philadelphia airport. I have a nice trek from terminal B to terminal F. Thankfully I have almost 2 hours.

Heck your flight was only a mere two and a half hours, now you have to wait 2 hours at an airport. How long is your next flight home?

safe travels home charade!
sometimes short trips are the best !

When I fly to Orlando, I usually have a good 3 hour wait for the flight home.
I dread having to rush to catch a fight.
I am good at people watching to pass the time.

We love people watching....we have around 3 hours to pass at the airport before our flight so people watching helps pass the time, but a very short 2 and a half hour flight that Charade had between Orlando and Philly would be fabulous!!!

Laziest afternoon ever!!! Tom was back out volunteering, yep, he was gone about 4 hours, so as the sun came out and it was actually warm at 70F for a time and we get the sun all day from around 10.30am so it was glorious with the doors open enjoying the sun streaming in.

Listened to Queen, read a book, baked biscuits and made a cuppa for the gardener and his wife who joins him sometime, it was nice sitting outside for a time too.

Dinner was amazing!! Seafood and spice, perfect! Cheddar Bay Biscuits turned out lush and went well with the dish.

Couple of episodes of Dexter then bed I think.....

First day of May tomorrow ☺️

Was fine to head to grocery for quick pickup of ice cream. A need, not a want. Have some lovely basil the mr grew that needs used. Found some fresh mini sausage ravioli and mushroom tortellini. Making two sauces, one that’s my pizza sauce and the other butter/oglio/cajun sort the mr likes with his grilled shrimp and spaghetti (his dinner). Will toss in some cherry tomatoes, peppers, onion and lots of garlic & other spices.

Yes, it’s not exactly the smartest first meal after tummy issues

Wound up stopping by Ross in same shopping plaza and picked up a big bagful of clothes for jr to sort thru as his wardrobe needed some refreshing. Found a little something for everyone. Just some new makeup for me.

glad you had such a lovely trip and glad you`re getting back to normal :)
See above, however, not so sure I’ll ever hit the normal metric lol
yes, I admit oysters are not the most visually beautiful creatures
I bet they are to other oysters. Fun fact: oysters can change their sex at will depending on mating conditions.

Think I missed a very happy anniversary shout out to Mr & Mrs Mac! Sounds like you had a lovely day celebrating each other :)

need to call my favourite niece today, she goes in to hospital tomorrow for hip replacement surgery, she is young but she really needs it. Weirdly my sister in law who is younger than me is getting a similar surgery next week. Niece`s is more complex so I`ll be sitting waiting for news tomorrow.
Oh my, when it rains, it does pour! What are the odds of that happening? Best wishes to the both of them that they have great results (and lots of better living thru chemistry while recuping)
Making a mixed seafood dish tonight in a creamy cajun spiced sauce
Ooh that sounds very good
Hope all have that month ending Terrific Taco Tuesday today. Woot! May starts tomorrow, and May has two nice events, our Mother’s Day, and ending with a holiday Monday, Memorial Day.
I love May, my favorite two Daves are born the end of the month!
Why I don’t like any flight South that isn’t direct.
Since we have a couple options daily for NS to MCO, consider it a supreme waste of time to even consider booking a connection when the flight is under 2 hours

The girls flew home on my DSs reward points thru delta. First flight was cancelled, was going to Detroit. 2nd one the next day turned out better in their favor, just had to deal with ATL and were in the same terminal.

Yeah, nights and early mornings are crap chance of finding something interesting, Mac.

I’m so ready for bed. Allergies or not, I’m wiped out. Took a very long hot shower, and still have a bad headache. More drugs and bedtime routine is what I’m going to do soon.

Ice cream sounds perfect, Keisha. Hope your tummy issues are better tomorrow.

We have a cold front coming from the west, so some rain to be found tomorrow. But still warm, as 68 out at half past 9 tonight, with a light rain, which my phone app says will end in less than 5 minutes. 59 when I go out the door tomorrow morning. But no jacket, as 80 by the time I leave. And made sure had sunglasses back in my pocketbook. Supposed to be a full day of sunshine tomorrow, and Thursday. Cold front to be here on Friday. As high is 68, 65 and rainy Saturday, with 58 the high, with a rainy Sunday. Good thing back to the high 70’s high next week. Predicted anyway, though hope hotter than that when in next week.

Good night all. Camel says he can’t wait to see that sunshine.

A hot shower can cure many things. I always miss my own shower on trips as a fan on the high pressure massaging sort. When I forget to switch it back to normal, can hear the Mr complain all the way downstairs in the mornings:rolleyes1 (cant think of a more effective wake up)

For once I was prudent& skipped the ice cream. Put all on notice that I better find some left in a day or two

Mac I’ve lost count of the number of hockey playoff games I’ve watched since home. Wish we could just fast forward to final series. Not as much fun when ur team is knocked out

Lynne, back in the dark ages, I lived (barn and raised in East St. Illinois just across the river to St. Louis.
Most called it not idea as muggy hot temps once it was around Early May- or soon after.

Kind of reminds me how similar to being what we called the arm pit of the South.

There are times I wish I had never moved to Chicago for work.

Now that I am older, wish I never left that area.
Always regretted once I grew older how I wanted to someday move back to that area,
just seemed like home.there for me.
All the good paying jobs were in the North back then

The older I get the more I wish there was a time tunnel to go back home.

I did enjoy my job in St Louis and the weather much better than living in the chicago north way back then

Quick stop in before I head to bed. I have a couple loaves of bread baking in the oven...then it's time for bed once they come out. We are enjoying the fresh bread...and it's easy to whip a couple of loaves in the evening.

Had a quiet weekend puttering and cleaning. Got one corner straightened out. Once more little corner that is driving me nuts to tackle - maybe this weekend if we don't go to the city to see the kids and gd.

I've been trying to get out walking on my breaks. I've been hitting the path for the perfect 15 minute lap twice a day. Today was cold again. Woke up to frost on the windshield this morning

We are finally getting some much needed rain. It looks like it's supposed to rain/snow mix overnight :sad2: Of course it would happen now - after I see the flowering buds are just popping out on my lilac tree. I'm trying to be grateful for the moisture - in whatever form we get. I am patiently waiting for the weather to warm up.

Well, it's almost time to take the bread out of the oven.

Have a great sleep everyone - I'll leave the night light on for everyone who may stumble around tonight.

Who is the team you cheer for?

So far our Oilers are holding their own. We are hopeful they move onto the next round. I am with you...I'm tired of hearing nothing but hockey right now until dh goes to bed.

There are still a few canadian teams in the running...yet. It would be nice to see the cup won by a canadian team...we will keep dreaming and wishing ;)

It’s a little over an hour.

Not bad at all. You`ll be home now, hope you had a good sleep.

Food sounds good!!! I love Basil, Tom not so much which is a shame as I use it in some dishes but add it later just for me, we have some lemon basil growing right now, he`ll like that even less lol.....ice cream is definitely a want at times!!

New clothes and make up....fun!!! Yes, I do agree normal is subjective lol....

I`m more an oyster and champagne kinda gal, but sounds good too!!! Haven`t had a beer in forever now I think on it.

Yes, my niece needed a type of surgery that requires a specialist kind of surgeon and there are very few of them so she has waited a time, sister in law apparently her hip has all but crumbled completely. Both have been in tremendous pain so hopefully this will be the solution. So worried about my niece today, as I said I know she`ll be fine, but, it`s still a worry.

You do have some nice celebrations this month, and your family celebrates very well indeed as one should do!!!

You have the best weather now mac which is such a good thing. Moving for work is so common though.

Bread is so easy to make isn`t it!! We tend to make Focaccia more that anything or just a plain old white but add garlic and rosemary to both, so much better than store bought bread. We have an abundance of rosemary in the garden which we both love I`m glad to say and use it a lot in dishes.

Nice you`re getting walking again, it makes such a difference. The cold does make a difference though, so fingers crossed you heat up soon. We are getting flowers through and our lavendar plants are already blooming nicely and we can already smell the scent from them when we pass them, it`s so lovely when the garden comes to life after winter.

lol.....you say puttering we say pottering......similar but different!! :)

First day of May......I think we`re supposed to go wash our faces in the early morning dew and we`ll be pretty forever.......🥴

It`s mild, not windy or raining so heading out a walk this morning, not the prettiest of days as it is cloudy right now, but no wind or rain is enough to get us out. Will go down the beach, or shore as we call it in Scotland, the English always say beach, so whichever works, we know what we mean.

No definite plans for the rest of the day, will see what happens. Just hoping our weather changes for the better soon.....

Poached egg before we head out this morning, and tea of course :)

Happy Wednesday and first day of May!!!

Ah, up just before the alarm went off, and took another hot shower. Must be getting a cold or something in my sinuses. Sigh. Hate to be sick. But at least not running a fever and what is coming out is clear. Took allergy medicine with me.

Not raining when I got out the door. Though muggy feeling with all the rain that did fall in the overnight hours. Parts of the street were wet, and puddling seen in the parking lot. But quick enough commute, and only one entering today. Guess the first day, every one seems to want to be earlier, but after that, not very busy in the early time I come in. Sigh, one more day of the city, then a three day weekend to hopefully see me feeling better. So looking forward to that lazy day Friday.

But who do I see today?

IMG_3482.jpeg
Ah, camel is here wishing all a good morning, and it’s that first hump day of May, as starting this month right, in the middle of the week. As we get over this hump of a day feeling day, then that most fabulous Friday feeling is only a day away. Woot!

58 degrees out, and 90 percent humidity says my phone weather app for city weather. Muggy, yes?

Kinda cool inside, so did take a jacket to wear if I get a chill inside. Won’t outside. As a sun filled day is to burn those overcast skies out right now. Already sunrise and looks like this:
IMG_3483.jpeg

Ooh another day 82 as I leave the building. Yay for warm weather still around before that Western cold front from makes it a much cooler long weekend.

Have a most Wonderful Wednesday, and give a yay this hump day, first of the month of May.

Mr surprised me with a BLT this am, better than gold.

Forgot I wasn’t to drink coffee (all caffeine) or take antihistamines (come on, it’s allergy season here), 24 hours before my scheduled breathing test at hospital today.

:wizard: That isn’t meant for pixie dust, it’s to call myself a dunce.

tried calling the department, no response. Guess I’ll still go and ‘fess up, well, maybe only if they ask lol:rolleyes1. Simple Simon indeed, although we do call that game Simon says.

similar to being what we called the arm pit of the South
As one of my southern raised friends would say: no way to polish that turd lololol
Who is the team you cheer for?
I’m a numbers sort of person, decided to have fun with this

hints:

# of Stanley cups = 5

Until 2023, had the longest playoff appearance streak = 17

Their goalie was the last to adopt wearing a mask = 1959

Answer @ end of post
It would be nice to see the cup won by a canadian team...we will keep dreaming and wishing
You got this, sooner or later!

Just found out DiL is being sent to (i forgot-double duh) french speaking canadian city to present at company conference. I get to hold down the fort to feed my DS & GD for 5 days. Better put it on my calendar so I don’t forget as it appears I’m on a roll there.
Bread is so easy to make isn`t it!!
Ha, for some people. Me, well, depends on the weather, literally. God forbid I’d try to make when humid or too cold, it never comes out. Specifically bought new oven with a proof feature. First attempt using it was much butter for me.

*Pittsburgh Penguins

PS my two Daves finally received their waylaid Jagr bobble heads, quite the saga there lol. We collectively blamed it on Lynne’s team mascot, Gritty

https://www.nhl.com/news/jaromir-jagr-stolen-penguins-bobbleheads-found

Yeah, still have a flyer’s pendant I had as a kid, Keisha. No love for our ice skating team any more. They haven’t won for many years. But we do have a pretty good looking mascot.
1714579170182.jpeg Hehe.

Lunchtime walk. 76 and not as humid. Sunglasses on. Yay.

Hope your test goes well, Keisha, and nice sandwich you had. Little one’s favorite, minus no mayo for her. She’s waiting until the Jersey tomatoes are in season.

Very quick hello. Yesterday was a long day, today is a crazy one. I’m trying to get caught up at work. My boss is currently at the ER with her husband. He fell this morning while taking a walk and hit his head. I think he is around 80 years old, so a little extra concern there. She is supposed to call me back before 3:00 with an update.
