At least most of the rebels are finally dead and hopefully peace can be maintained in the galaxy...

I liked it except I wanted far more Snoke/Phasma, far less Rose and Finn.

Liked this one far more than TFA despite some issues.

The Star Wars movies often are commentaries of the times they are made and that scene reflects the consolidation of wealth and like representing the 1%

Yeah, when those scenes were happening I was thinking about the political point they were trying to make and thinking to myself that they were showing us the SW version of the 1%. It just took me out of the movie a bit. Politics are really divisive right now and not something I want to think about during a movie.

Many great scenes/moments, some still digesting/questioning.

By the way going from hyperspace to an instant dead stop gotta be tough on your neck.

Surprised no one has mention the casino scene is a Jabba scene ripoff. Just like Benecio's betrayal is a Lando ripoff.

Finn and Poe' s disobeying direct orders kills 90% of the rebels and no one had an issue with them afterwards?

Don't get me started on solder jockey Rose can suddenly fly spaceships and knows how to disable a never seen before light-speed jump tracking(if you forget they put a tracking device on Han's MF). Or that Rey only needed 2.5 lessons for Luke to exit stage left

What exactly did Luke do with Yoda again? Run around with him on his back through a swamp for half an hour?

Gotta suspend some reality

Also you can think anything is a “rip off” if you dig into it too deep. The casino wasn’t Jabbas palace at all, and I don’t think del torros character is lando because I don’t think he betrayed them. His direct words were “we got caught, I cut a deal”. It wasn’t that he set them up from what i picked up on, I thought it was the imperial droid could detect BB-8 under the box

Really surprised to see the prequels ranked before... anything, really.

And the casino stuff wasn't because the people were rich but because they got rich selling weapons to the Dark Side (though they didn't realize they also sold to the rebels)

I never really hated the prequels, think they are all mediocre films with some pretty awesome moments/scenes. However I thought that the Disney Star Wars would rank higher when they announced the movies. They just don't work for me.

I understand what they were trying to do with 1%'s, just thought it was flippant that everyone at the casino was an evil rich person who sold weapons. Couldn't some of them be media moguls?

I like episode 3 well enough ... and still feel like a really good editor could turn them collectively into 1 to 2 really good movies. Just hard to overcome some really poor acting and some cringe worthy moments (still have trouble dealing with Padme and Anakin getting together when he was like a little kid and she was a teenager when they met)

I just don't care about either of them. Bye, Felicia, ya know? I mean does anyone give 2 flying fluffs about Finn?

Finn's story arc is fairly interesting - he (and all the other storm troopers) were taken as kids and trained/brainwashed by the first order. Finn was a higher performer who Captain Phasma pushed and abused. Then over time he just saw the atrocities and crimes the First Order was asking him to do to civilians and he had enough and defected.

But now that he gave Phasma her comeuppance (in, to be honest, a bit of a letdown fight) that completes his story arc so no idea what role he has/needs to have going forward

sort of the challenge when you call yourself the "Rebels" right? The whole point of the group is rebelling against leadership so you can't really get mad at people that "rebel" as that is the spirit the whole group is founded on ... but yeah, did take the killing of a ton of people for Poe to "learn his lesson"

Also she falls for him after he gives her the low down on the cons of sand. How on earth people can think that junk is better than this movie baffles me

-Enjoyed Yoda. Would of been better with Kenobi but I understand why it would not of worked. Yoda had some mad powers. Why did he not fry the Emperor in ROTJ?

-Was a very good 3 star movie. Dark but exciting an hopeful. Could of been more if it had more cohesion with TFA and did not drop almost everything it introduced.

You're so right.

Why didn't Yoda come back to fry the Emperor? If a Force Ghost can call a massive lightning bolt to ignite an ancient sacred Jedi site, why doesn't he Emperor come back and fry everyone? Where is Kenboi? Why isn't he back to fry Snoke? Rian Johnson thought, "Cool! Yoda can be as irreverent as everyone else in this movie. Risky! A new direction!" But it makes no sense.

I don't think it's true that Star Wars fans don't like this movie because it's new and different. We don't like it because it's inconsistent and stupid.

Original, first generation fans were used to Star Wars changing directions from the very beginning. After that kiss for luck as Luke and Leia swung across the bridge, a lot of us were expecting romance down the road. Brother and sister? What?? Vader is pater? What?

Millions of us read and loved the Zahn novels. Throwing that out of canon was a Huge New Direction. No functional marriage for Han and Leia? Okay. The three kids they had - gone? Okay. Luke, successfully passing on what he has learned, as Yoda told him. But he didn't. Okay. Marrying the massively intriguing Emperor's Hand, Mara Jade. Mara gone. Okay. Their son Ben gone. Okay. All okay. We swallowed that and loved FORCE AWAKENS anyway. We can deal with being surprised, with risks, with new directions. We are not limited. Unwillingness to be surprised or accept a new direction is NOT why Star Wars fans don't like THE LAST JEDI.

TLJ had no cohesion with TFA. And, as you say, TLJ dropped almost everything introduced by TFA. It felt like enormous hubris to break every promise TFA made, massive storytelling laziness to drop every thread TFA had woven, a thumbing of the nose to Abrams and Star Wars fans generally to cast all that aside.

If you go to a movie to enjoy the movie, you'll enjoy TLJ. If you go to a Star Wars movie for a story that doesn't insult your intelligence, characters who develop logically, a plot that evolves consistently with what came before, a film that feels like Star Wars (which, for many of us, all the others did -- different in tone and quality as they were) - you might be disappointed.
