Ian just went to work and sent me this pic. It is the line outside Sam's at 2:45 of people lined up for toilet paper.

We went by Sam's to get some bacon and cat litter. Here are the meat cases. We were going to grab some hamburger. Maybe next time. I didn't look down the TP isle, but the racks with bottled water were nearly empty.

I'm old enough to remember seeing grocery stores in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) looking like this. Ah memories...

@Carol_ ,

My son is from Kharkov, Ukraine. 2nd largest city in Ukraine and The "grocery" stores there were quite different. Reminded me of 1940's America. Think Mayberry RFD. We were there after Ukraine gained its independence and they were trying hard to "Westernize".

I'm just referring to the empty shelves, My host father in Leningrad showed me a wad of cash in his pocket and he explained he had lots of money but there was nothing to buy in the stores. TP was a major problem there, too, as I recall. We had to pack our own. Moscow on the Hudson was a good depiction.
For some reason (I suspect the black market) everybody had vodka. Vodka can kill viruses, though, so...

Ohio has now mandated all bars to close. Restaurants are now limited to carry out or delivery. I had trouble with social distancing today as I had to run to pick up eggs and a few small items for our normal use. For 8 am on a Sunday, the Kroger I went to was only about 20-25% busier than I had seen it before. Most people seemed to be just doing their normal shopping. I had to stop by a Walmart for something that my sister needed that they carry exclusively and that store was no where near as busy as it normally is on a Sunday near 11 am.

There were still quite a few people out and about in the stores, but many seemed to be the ones that just waited to until the crazy lines of the past few days lessened.

We were warned about the TP. We packed our own. And we were put up in an apartment that was also very 1940'ish. Comfortable though.

The vodka was great. They iced it (literally kept it in the freezer). And it was cheap. $2-3 for a liter.

Illinois just did the same thing.

Carryout and curbside pickup are ok. This will be interesting.

Yes in PA all the liquor stores are closing, they are owned by the state. Talked about privatizing but....after all we have to pay for the Chancellor of colleges, who makes over $400000 per year.
Everything is closing, but local FD had a gun raffle today, parking lot was overflowing....priorities.
Me I am just dreaming of camping, can not work in or on camper as it is at the shop. So I have spent the weekend working around the house and 3d printing Star Wars blaster parts. Now I know why all my friends own more than one of these printers....to speed up projects. DW said one is enough.

We went to the grocery store and got everything on the list except canned beans for chili. Might be a good thing in the end, since we will both be home next week. Bert is home for the month and I am hime indefinitely.

I have a new reservation for sep in Boston but still need to change my flight.

Mallory is well needy. She is eating well but has taken to chirping so that someone will lay by her. could Be an interesting week. I am just afraid that her inabilty to move is causing her to panic.

other than completely changing my running plans, I need to move to maintenance from peak training. All is ok here, we even fixed our toilet.

CT going to announce mandatory bar, restaurant, etc closing as well... expect same with p/u and delivery ok. Heard MA announced this tonight as well.

A lot of stuff except the strip clubs... Laugh out loud.... It's a joke... We need a laugh

ok i was feeling bad for all the parents working from home with younger kids, as it would be hard to entertain them. I am in the same boat as Mallory wants to be entertained. it is no longer even good enough for me to lay by her. i have to be doing something with her. it is going to be some long weeks working from home.

Just announced our local school is shutting down until the 22. It will probably be longer than that though.

In Burlington VT. all bars and restaurants will close at 6 a.m. Tuesday for at least 24 hrs.

My neighbor is a branch manager at a bank. She told me people are coming in droves trying to get all their $ out in cash. Also people are refinancing their house to get some cash or lower their payments in case their job/business cease to exist. :(

I assume that, in the end, all of the closures like schools, restaurants, etc will be mandated to follow the CDC 8 week recommendation. So, only 7 weeks and 4 days left of school day closure (hopefully)...

This mass panic is so far past ridiculous it isn't hardly believable.
