Last year I was in the hospital over Thanksgiving so my side dishes were a couple of IV units of meds but normally at our table we have.......

mashed potatoes/gravy
rutabaga
corn
stuffing
green been casserole
and rolls.

Mashed potatoes/gravy

mandarin orange jello salad (2 types)
rolls (usually Hawaiian rolls)
veggie tray

oops.....I forgot the cranberry sauce and my Mom's salad!! (Sorry Mom!)

Back in the day the number of side dishes and desserts were insane. We’ve toned it way down.

Mashed potatoes and gravy
Stuffing
Either fresh green beans sautéed with bacon and onion, roasted asparagus and brussel sprouts or Emeril’s Broccoli and Cauliflower Gratin. Sometimes two of these.
Sometimes a salad, sometimes not.
Rolls
Canned, jellied cranberry sauce for DH

Mashed potatoes
Sweet potatoes
Turnips
Stuffing
Cranberry sauce
Creamed pearl onions
Roasted Brussels sprouts
Cauliflower in cheese sauce
Gravy

These are the basics. My mom usually
Cooks. She no longer serves salad corn bread or biscuts because no one eats them.

This is what’s on the list. We each bring a dish or two.

Arroz con gandules (rice with pigeon peas)
Pernil (roasted pork shoulder)
Mashed potatoes
Gravy
Green beans
Candied yams
Mac and cheese
Stuffing
Meatballs
Cranberry sauce out of the can
Macaroni salad
Tossed Salad
Sweet potato pie and other assorted desserts
