YOAMD - Anyone else looking forward to it ending?

For sentimental reasons...I will be sad when this one ends :sad1:
I do love to watch the "Big Moment" video over and over again... :goodvibes

But I am looking forward to whatever the creative Disney marketing team will come up with next! :goodvibes

Maybe I'm just bitter having been in the parks for 31 days of this promotion and still not getting a "dream". Maybe it's the commercials we've been bombarded with. For some reason, I honestly can't wait for this thing to be over. It sounds really juvenile, but I think I'm just tired of being let down. I think it's a bit human nature to get excited that you might win something, and when you spend a lot of time in the parks, you'd think the law of averages has to work in your favor sometime.

I'd just like to get back to business as usual, enjoying vacation, and not being on the lookout for the dream team to give away fastpasses to someone else other than me.

OK - Rant over.:)

Boomhauer! I'm shocked, my world has come to an end. You usually have "dead on" post. :goodvibes I've lost my faith in mankind.

Sorry but I think it is a bit juvvie. It's a cheesy promotion and unfortunately I think it does more harm than good.
I'm just seeing way to many post about "I didn't win any thing so Disney sucks" or "it was my birthday and disney didn't have Stevie wonder singing happy birthday to me" (ok I'm exaggerating here, but you get my drift) so Disney sucks"

People see those commercials and think, hey when my kids get there they'll get a bunch of free stuff too and when they don't, they're pissed.

i wish it would all end. but hey I'm a cynic

Here's an idea for everyone that didn't win.....How about CMs handing out dream fast passes to EVERYONE that walks through the gates then everyone is a winner. See anything wrong with this logic? I think the whole thing is a sad promotion. It was obviously conceived to increase attendance, and from all accounts, it worked. But it created a whole society that expected to win something, so when they didn't win, it wasn't a magical trip, at least in many people's minds. It wouldn't have create more attendance, but it would've been a much greater promotion if everything had been done WITHOUT the advertising creating the expectations. Ya know what? How about coming down off your high-horse and remember how fortunate you were to be able to vacation in a place like WDW. There are thousands of great families out there that will never be able to enjoy a trip to WDW, which is sad. So many people on these message boards complaining that they were screwed because they didn't win anything. If you want to win something, go to Vegas.

I think it's funny that this promotions started around the time of my last trip, fall 2006, and will still be going on (at least I think) when we're there fall 2008. That's a long year.

Exactly the same as us. We did get Dream Fastpasses at MGM though.

Wow, I thought I was the only one over this promotion.
I'm so over going to WDW and people around me get "dreams" while I get to watch. It even went so far as to dream FPs being given out in Camp Minnie Mickey in the Mickey greeting line (which we were in). The CMs only had a few passes left and there were tons of people ahead of us. Wouldn't you know they grabbed the family right behind us for the last FPs ... and go to the front of the line. Argh!!!
My friend and I have a new name for the promotion ... Year of a Million Dreams for Everyone but Angey & Chris. It seems to fit. We're debating making shirts for our trip in a few weeks. If anything, it will be funny.

LOL, that's my situation too.

I didn't even think about it, so I never expected it. Never did see anyone get anything 2 weeks ago. :)

I don't mind that others are winning dreams and we haven't won anything in the several trips that we've taken since they started the promotion. It does stink slightly to see others with dream ears or fastpasses and we have not even had the hint of something but I am glad for them. I am just looking forward to a new promotion. It's always fun when they celebrate something like 30 year anniversary or the millenium. I'm just wanting to see something new, it seems that this promotion has been dragged out long enough.

I actually want it to last forever.. :cloud9:

It's just such a magical concept. When they stop the promotion, I hope they continue to give out dreams and magical moments.

I like the promotion. If it gives the average person a chance for a little extra magic, I think it's great.

We went during Xmas 2006 and sure didn't expect anything. We were surprised when we were told we were a winner while dining at Sci-fi. Our prize - bags of Cracker Jack all around! I was cracking up! :rotfl2:

I hope they continue it.

hmmm, I guess I never really cared whether it ended it or not. We didn't win anything on our last trip, but then again, we weren't expecting to win. We still had a wonderful trip filled with so much magic. What do these members of the "Dream Team" look like??? LOL My curiosity is now peaked.

Our oldest asked me last time "Why do they keep skipping us?" I felt kind of bad about that.

I was bored with the Happiest Celebration on Earth thing too. I enjoy Disney for Disney. Something about promo's that irk me.

Just regular CM's. They usually walk around with someone in a suit. I'm just curious at this point to figure out how they decide who wins. Maybe I should not wear a Red Sox or Patriots cap next time. I could be passing a dream team from New York.:confused3

We've been twice during the YOAMD. I not only haven't won anything I haven't seen anybody win anything. As a general rule I am an unlucky person, so I wouldn't expect to win anything, but I also never saw anybody win anything. I saw a couple at Epcot with those magical fastpass thing around their necks but that has been it.

One thing is for sure, while they have something like this going on they need to have those survey people leave you alone. Two or three times we had a CM approach us, DH and I would look at each other and smile, both of us thinking "OK this is it", then they would ask if they could do a survey:mad: You'd think after the first time we would've figured it out.

I still didn't care for this promotion of picking out a few people and giving something to just them. I would rather it would've been something everyone could share in, eg: lower rates, a special show or ride, or something along those lines.

I go once a month for two to three days per trip. So far I have received four YOAMD items (two lanyards and two Dream fastpasses). Having said that, I will not miss the promotion. The smaller prizes are not exactly "dreams" to me. The bigger items are so rare that it is not even worth getting your hopes up over. The signage for YOAMD is lame. Looking forward to something new (and better).

I like the one with parents looking at the computer at night where the wife says "$1,600 for all of us - We can do that!"

They should add a disclaimer like car commercials do:

"Flight, food, souveniers, transportation extra."

I always say the same thing when I see that commercial :rotfl:

does anyone know when they extended the promotion, did they add big prizes?

Like I knoe they where given away x number of DVC's (did they add more when they extended the promotion?)
