YOAMD Postcards and Winners

Finally after sending in hundreds of postcards from 07 & 08 I got some dream ears. No I didn't win them from Disney but I traded someone my Mickey Mom's Panel stuff for them. Hey at least I finally got a pair.:rotfl:

Thats cool. WOW, they REALLY must be far behind on rewarding prizes!! Which can only mean those enteries I have sent in so far, if I win anything probably wont be until like July or August or later! I wonder why they are so far behind? :confused3 They are supposed to gather all enteries from that day, select winners and then send out the prizes. And all enteries that were collected during that week are also included in the Sunday drawing.

YAY!!!! This gives me hope!! :rotfl:

does anyone else decorate them? My 3 year old son and i decorated our post cards with stickers and coloring. Is this allowed? i have no idea but we both had a fun time doing it.

I sometimes draw little mickey heads, or draw pixie dust, or put a little sticker on it. But I haven't won anything yet so I don't think it makes a difference. But it's fun! ;)

Actually, they only draw entries once per month. They "bag" each day's entries, then around the 20th, they draw each day's winners from that day's entry "bag". Then it takes another 55 days to process and mail. (I've pasted that section from the rules below). It could take nearly 3 months from the time an entry is received to when it it received by the winner.

From the rules:

If, on any given day, the mail-in entry pool is randomly selected: the winner(s) of the applicable prize(s) will be determined at random from among all eligible mail-in entries received on the applicable day. All eligible mail-in entries will be bundled and bagged on the date received, except that eligible mail-in entries postmarked on or after December 19, 2007 and received on or before December 31, 2007 will be deemed to have been received on January 1, 2008 and mail-in entries received between December 31, 2008 and through January 14, 2009 will be deemed to have been received on December 31, 2008. Also, for Sundays and U.S. postal holidays on which Disney Properties are open, all eligible mail-in entries received during the prior six (6) mail delivery days will be included in the Sunday or holiday (as applicable) prize selection pool. Mail received in the UK on a U.S. postal holiday will be included in the U.S. postal holiday prize selection pool along with the prior six (6) mail delivery days. For UK postal holidays on which Disney Properties are open, all eligible mail-in entries received at the UK postal address for this Giveaway on the day after the UK postal holiday will also be included in the prize selection pool on the day of that UK postal holiday. Please note that the U.S. and UK holiday calendar will govern this Giveaway. On approximately the 20th day of each month during the Giveaway Period, and on or about January 20, 2009, Marketing Resources, Inc., an independent judging organization engaged by Creata, will conduct random drawings at Marketing Resources, Inc.'s offices in Elmhurst, Illinois to award the prize(s) for each of the days of the immediately preceding month for which mail-in entrants were to be awarded a prize(s). Each drawing will be from among all eligible mail-in entries received on or allocated to the day for which the drawing is taking place. Potential winners from the mail-in entry pool will be notified by mail (or certified mail, return receipt requested, if potential winner is a resident of Puerto Rico) or telephone (at Sponsor's sole discretion) within approximately fifty five (55) days after each monthly drawing. If a prize requiring the winner to be present at a Disney Property is designated for award (such as a DREAM FASTPASS badge or the one-night stay at the Cinderella Castle Suite), a winner entering via mail will receive an alternate prize of comparable or greater approximate retail value ("ARV") as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, such as a special edition pin and lanyard, a special edition Dream Mouse Ears or a merchandise gift basket (which may include a Disney Gift Card).

Last night I was filling out postcards while watching tv. My husband was sitting right there and he said, "You haven't done that in awhile." I said, "What?" and he said, "Send those postcards." (I have, but he just hadn't seen me fill them out or mail them in awhile.) I thought that was funny, b/c my husband isn't very observant, but he's actually been paying attention to this contest! I hope he wins some ears for being observant....LOL
:lmao:

Ok, here is what I did....And it must have been right, because we won the DVC through the mail!!!

For 2007, I used 3x5 postcards. I used mailing labels, and used my PC to print the labels with our names, address, and birthdays. I put them on the 3x5 cards, and put them in the envelope. Then, I printed postage mailing labels with JUST the PO BOX, and Elmhurst IL. I did not put my return info on the label, and, just for luck, I bought Disney stamps, and mailed ONE PER DAY for me and Jessica.

For 2008, I used a business card maker program. I printed out our information on a "business card" and printed it out 9 times per sheet of paper. I then cut them into squares, put them into envelopes (security, smaller type) and printed mailing labels and put disney stamps, and mailed ONE per day for Jess and myself. I won for 2007, so what I did then worked. Nothing for 2008 yet, but, I stopped sending mine in, and just send Jessica's in......Oh, and we did spring Pixie Dust on each envelope before mailing :wizard:

One cool thing that happened the other day. The Fedex guy who delivered my winning package drove by. I had called fedex after we had won, as he had said good luck, hope its big, when he delivered it. I made sure to thank him for doing that. Well, he drove by the house, and we were outside, he yells GRAND PRIZE WINNERS AT DISNEY YAHOOO!!! Thought that was pretty cool!!!

Thats all you need to do to mail in. Nothing fancy. I dont think the writing/typing matters much, just as long as it can be read. I dont know about postcards, I dont think I would do that, thats just me personally.

Good luck everyone, and remember, dreams can come true, as Jess and I learned, if you wish hard enough!!!!

I'm doing exactly what you did in 2007 - hope it works as well for me!!! ;)

it was pretty cool...and overwhelming...just this morning, we were putting our express labels for SSR on our bags, and I just stopped, looked at Jess, and said, can you believe we won?? We both just smiled!!! Its amazing!

Not sure how many DVC memberships they are giving out, but they awarded one for 2008 already. Happened in the parks.

For those who have been sending in 08, things must be rolling. I was just informed by DD that 4 sets of 08 Mickey Ears just showed up today!!

Along with my 1982 Epcot book, 1982 pre-opening Epcot book, and special Mission Space opening collectable that I bought on E-bay. I'm a dork.

Just out of curiosity, is there a way to mail in your postcards from Disney? We'll be staying at Pop Century.

Actually I wouldnt count on winning anything the way you are mailing out your cards now. All your info HAS to be HAND WRITTEN and not typed. You can do mailing labels, but all your info cant be labels. It might have worked that way last year, but they make it very clear in their rules for this yr is to hand write all info.

Oops......I didn't read what the DVC winner wrote closely enough - I haven't been printing labels for my info, just the address. Yes, you must handwrite your personal information per the contest rules.

It said that last year also, apparently it didn't matter. My luck, they would have thrown it out!

It probably actually does matter...the DISer who won the DVC membership, probably just got VERY lucky that her entry wasnt thrown out.

Most companies and Disney isnt excluded are VERY strict on when it comes to contests. If it says in their rules to do something, they expect people to follow the rules. Personally I dont see why people cant follow the rules. Is it to much to sit there and write your info out? People printing their info is just being plain lazy. It doesnt take that long to write your info on the back of a post card or piece of paper. And I know this is gonna come up at some point "thats to much writing to do." Well, simple...dont do them ALL at once. Fill one out, mail it. Next day, fill another one out, mail it, etc. How hard is that? :confused3

I came home today and found two boxes - 2 more ears. That makes 4 ears and 2 lanyards since about a year ago.

We got a box today too
Not sure what it is yet

That makes number 10 for us since last year

First one for 08
