Although in theory this is fine I think if there is a date involved in delivering I may pass. With everything going on on-board I think it will be hard to maintain that you go on a certain day. I have never found an issue with delivery dates especially on the 14 nighters as you get something almost every day. Saying "you should deliver this day" just seems like a complete pain as how do you know if you would be able to do something that day? I know its only a suggested date but I may have to reconsider taking part as I don't think this will suite me personally. I'd rather decide to do it when and if I get 5 mins not feel I have to deliver it on a certain day.

We can do whatever, I would just hate for a group to get all their goodies in the first half of the trip...

I amopen to whatever - I am just tabulating who gives to who... :)

Woohoooo,

We're in with the in crowd, at the Praktik Rambla. We were looking yesterday, but only 1 double room; then last night, none. Just looked out of curiousity and there were two; so we took 'em.

Based on our various posts, I've compiled a Barcelona Hotel Roll Call List. If you have updates or additions, please feel free to PM me. I'll keep my eye on the thread's posts as well.

You'll see that I sorted by DIS Name, yet primarily color coded by hotel. The last column is also color coded by arrival date, regardless of which hotel. If you're color-blind, you have the text for back-up. :upsidedow

Perhaps this can help stir conversation between people who may want to consider sharing transportation from the airport or meet up with new and old friends in the city! :goodvibes

Thanks Kimberley thats great.

Buckeye Gal - Great hotel list! If you like, you can add my FIL and MIL (John & Ramona) in with us as well, for a total of 6 in our party. Thanks!

Those staying at the Renaissance, have you already reserved the shuttle the hotel offers to the port, or do we do it closer to the trip?

We've sent our details via email to the hotel and waiting an answer.

After the EB Panama I think we have a very good idea of how much luggage there is - holy cow Batman!

I remember seeing your door on our last cruise and admiring your FE. :)

Thank you...we had a new one for October 2009. I bought a personalised one from Ebay.

We're filling the hotel!!

Well, it is official we will have to bow out of the WBTA in order to pay for our EBTA. We had a work scheduling conflict in Sept and were fortuante enough to be able to get on the EBTA.

I will still lurk over here though as you all are so much fun and have such good information and advice!

And hello to all you lucky ones going on both ends of the repositioning! So awesome!

Tata for now.

Enjoy your cruise.

Well, I can understand both viewpoints! Our problem is going to be getting people to volunteer for the port days. Since we have so few port days, people are liable to be leaving the ship early in the morning and coming back late, barely in time for dinner. Leading to all sorts of rushing about...:headache:

Madeira in particular may be difficult since the onboard is at 9:30. All the others are 6 pm or earlier. (I don't know about delivering too late in the evening when people are retiring for the night. I worry about things not being there in the morning.)

It looks like we have 14 possible delivery days (if we count embarkation day). We have 25 people making deliveries. I bet of that 25 we will have a fair number that wouldn't mind having a day for delivery marked out in advance, leaving the people not wanting to be tied down free to deliver whenever they want.

I wouldn't mind having a day assigned. Since we only have 24 to deliver, I can send DH off with half and we can have a race to see who can finish first!pirate:

I am another who really does not want an assigned day. It always seems like we have days where the navigator is packed full and days where we do not see much we enjoy and I prefer to be able to deliver on whatever ends up being a slow day for us. They seem to spread out fairly evenly.

The Renaissance is close to the airport or port ? I was counting on the REAS, for booking things. Anything comparable ?

Yep the renaissance is close to the airport and does a free shuttle from the airport.

As for REAS - no there is nothing comparable. They stopped it last year I believe. I tried to get it for this cruise and was told they weren't offering it any more unfortunately! Sure wish they were!

Renaissance is close to the airport, but has shuttle service to the city and also shuttle to/from the ports (for small additional fee.)

Well you're doing a fab job. The other option is we comprimise on the two sides and do a 1st half of the cruise 2nd half of the cruise thing? This way people like me don't feel too enclosed in "you have to do it today" and people who want to have their gifts spread out still get at least part of this? What do people think?

I, also, think your'e doing a fab job! While I don't think I would like to be assigned to a specific day, the compromise of first half/second half (or even/odd days, or whatever) sounds reasonable. As long as it's is clear that it is a suggested delivery time, for those who (like me) will probably try to fit all my deliveries in around everything else I will be doing. :hyper::hyper:

:cutie:

Sorry you won't be cruising with us, but glad you are getting to do the EB.

As to the assignment of days for FE gifts.... It makes no difference to us.

That said....
We have participated in FE gifts on 7 day, 10 day and 15 day cruises. We have never been assigned a specific day and have never received all of the FE gifts on just a day or two. People have spread it out on their own. Like a potluck, even if you don't assign you will find you have plenty of main courses, salads and desserts. ;) Sometimes over planning just makes for undue stress. :headache:

You might want to email your hotel to make sure they will accept travelers checks.

You might also check with DCL to see if the ship will accept travelers checks in Euros.

Woody

Good catch Woody. I called my TA and they said that DCL will only accept traveler's checks in dollars and british pounds. Guess I'll have to spend it all BEFORE I get to the ship . . .LOL

I'll contact the hotels as well

Thanks!
