It's our "Last" Trip to WDW, so we're going DELUXE! *We're Back After 11 Days in WDW*

So where are all the 1980's photos?????

Before I got into photography after my kids were born, no one in my family ever took a lot of photos. We preferred to live life as opposed to documenting it. In fact, we used to laugh at the people coming into the parks bogged down with all the camera bags and equipment...now that is me!:rotfl:

Anyway, I guess that explains why in all of the trips that we took to Disney through the 80's, I think I found only 10 photos, and no one from my family is even in the majority of them! Perhaps it is for the better given the crazy 80's fashions we all wore!

Anyway, this is one of the very few photos I have of me in the Parks in the 80's. I am to the left of the fountain in France in Epcot, probably about 12-14 years old. Gotta like the matching patterned top and shorts set!

And a better shot of that ensemble as we breezed by Canada...the Canadian pavillion hasn't changed much, has it?

image0000046A.jpg

Here is a really far-away shot of me, my mom, and brother. Not sure why my dad saw the need to be so far away, but there you go!

Here are some photos I seem to remember taking myself of a little skit that I quite enjoyed. It is funny, but just looking at the photo brings back memories of the people from the audience who were pulled in to act out the scene...I remember that they were great about it, and really got into character. Another great day at the Parks!:goodvibes

And here is a photo of the person who used to make the candy animals before Miyuki:

And finally, here's good old Spaceship Earth...I'll close out with that!:goodvibes

Boooooo Disney!!!

This is rather unusual for me. I am usually not one to criticize Disney. However, I am quite disappointed by what they choose to do (or not do) this year for Mother's Day.

I had really been hoping that they were going to bring back the awesome Mother's Day Brunch they did in Epcot a few years ago. Instead, as someone posted on this very thread awhile back, they have planned a TIW, limited seating Mother's Day brunch in the Living Seas Pavillion for...get this...$95 a person!!!!

A friend of ours with a TIW card offered to let us join them at the event. Problem is, I called Disney Dining and was advised that it is $95 a person...even if you are 4 and 7 years old!!! So to attend this event, my family of 4 would have to pay $400. Ummmm...no THANK you!!!!

I am sorry, but I find this pricing outrageous. Why can't WDW do something similar to the Brunch from years past, or for that matter, even similar to what Disneyland is doing? There is a Mother's Day Brunch at the Disneyland Hotel with all of the Princesses for $69 for adults and $19 for children. Now that is more like it!

I guess we will stick with our original plan of attending the Gospel Brunch at House of Blues. But I just have to say - BOOOO Disney!!!!!

I think you'll still have fun at House of Blues!! That is absolutely ridiculous-- $95 for a 4 year old???? I'm sure your 4 year old doesn't eat $95 worth of food in two weeks! They really ought to do something more affordable-- and not just restricted to TIW people, either!

I love the 80s pictures. It's hard to believe how timeless the parks are. The only thing that seems to change are the outfits! :lmao:

I agree that the Gospel Brunch will probably be just the ticket for Mothers Day. I can't believe how soon you get to go!

That's outrageous! $95 per person!!!!
I think you'll have a great time at Gospel Brunch!
I was just remembering that we were in Disney last year on Mother's Day. What a great memory!!!

:scared1:And it's sad because that Mother's Day brunch sounds so cool. But who can afford that? It would be 700$ if we wanted to go! I agree with you, that is outrageous. The Gospel Brunch sounds really nice, though. I'm sure you will enjoy it! :goodvibes

I remember looking at the Mother's Day Brunch when it came out and also thought the pricing was outrageous. Gospel Brunch at HoB sounds so much more fun...

:scared1: for the Mother's Day Brunch pricing! I think you've made the right call by skipping it. Love all the Epcot in the 80's pictures. It looks pretty crowded so now I won't believe people who say the parks are more crowded than ever these days.

I LOVE all the old family photos! How fun! My first trip was in 1984 when I was 7. Now I think I'd like to go dig through some old family albums! :)

And you are right the Mother's Day brunch pricing is crazy! :confused3

that brunch pricing is INSANE!

It would be insane for any meal. What in the world are they thinking?

Gospel Brunch sounds really good, I've looked into it a few times.

Yes, I was very happy that I found those photos...even though I don't have a whole lot of them. And yes, the trip is nearly here...getting very excited!!!

That's outrageous! $95 per person!!!!

Amanda

That's right - you told me you were in WDW for Mother's Day. I think it will be a nice way to spend my day! By then it will just be the 4 of us...I am really looking forward to it!:goodvibes

Yikes...and I thought $400 was bad! Heck, just think what you could do with $700! I assume you are going to pass!

I remember looking at the Mother's Day Brunch when it came out and also thought the pricing was outrageous. Gospel Brunch at HoB sounds so much more fun...

Yes...we are definitely on for the Gospel Brunch!:goodvibes I am so glad I didn't wait for Disney to come up with this master plan of the $95 Brunch before getting our tickets...I booked months ago and assume it has likely long since sold out! So glad I bought my tickets!;)

:scared1: for the Mother's Day Brunch pricing! I think you've made the right call by skipping it. Love all the Epcot in the 80's pictures. It looks pretty crowded so now I won't believe people who say the parks are more crowded than ever these days.

Yes, the parks were crowded, weren't they? And every single time we were there it was off peak season - we always travelled the 1st week of May, right after tax season ended. (My Dad is an accountant). It is a little tradition I have kept up, even as an adult. If I don't go somewhere warm in May, I feel lost!

Good call on skipping the Mother's Day Brunch - that is ridiculous!

Yeah, I wonder who dreams up these things.

Bear in mind, this is someone who paid $225 to do a 1.5 hour Princess Tea Party over at the Grand Floridian where we got sandwiches and a piece of cake. Not just once, but twice within 4 months!!! (Had to redo it as I lost my camera!:sad2:) But it was worth it to me for what we got out of the event.

In contrast, I can't imagine what either of my kids would get out of a brunch at the Living Seas Pavillion to justify a $95 price tag. Is Marty Sklar going to be there or something?:confused3 Seriously?! Do they really think the thrill of eating in a "Salon" looking out at the acquarium is that big of a draw? I can do that for free waiting for the Turtle Talk with Crush show!:rotfl:

I LOVE all the old family photos! How fun! My first trip was in 1984 when I was 7. Now I think I'd like to go dig through some old family albums! :)

And you are right the Mother's Day brunch pricing is crazy!

It was fun digging through those old photos! And I couldn't believe when I came across the one of me swimming in the Seven Seas Lagoon!!!

that brunch pricing is INSANE!

It would be insane for any meal. What in the world are they thinking?

Gospel Brunch sounds really good, I've looked into it a few times.

Yes, I can't wait for the Gospel Brunch! Can't believe how much time and effort I put into calling Disney for months repeatedly trying to find out their mother's day plans...all that waiting and that is what they give me! Boooooooo!!!!

Katie's Paris Party Tomorrow...

Well...time is running out. The Party is tomorrow. While I have everything I need at the house (except for the cake which I have to pick up tomorrow morning), I still need to assemble everything, and make a bunch of little crafts. I was so hoping that everything would have been done by now! Oh well...I have a LARGE cup of coffee in my hands and expect to be at this til the wee hours. I also have about an hour's worth of work that needs to get done before I can start on the food prep and party prep!:scared1:

I will try to post an update before I go to bed to show what I have been up to!;) That is, if I don't fall asleep at the dining room table!

In the meantime, when I got home from work today, look what was waiting for me:

April2010.jpg

I am a member of the Mickey Mom's Club and applied again this year to host a WDW party. This is my party box. Can you believe I haven't even opened it yet? I just have too much to do tonite! Plus, I already know what is inside from seeing photos of others' boxes. Very similar to what we received last year. I will post some photos later this weekend once I have a chance to crack it open.

In the meantime, I better get my work done, so I can then go into full-on party mode!!!;)

Love the princess tea pictures! Jessica would LOVE that!!!

I hope the party today is a huge hit! (I have no doubt it will be!)

How did you get to be a Mickey Mom???
