(semi spoiler alert) LOVED Toy Story III but can't figure out why

i kind of agree, after i saw the movie last night, i wondered why they chose lotso, but also while i was watching the movie, and you get lotso's backstory, i kinda felt for him. Even though he wasn't the nicest character, im not sure id characterize him as a villian... plus hes huggable and smells like strawberries! :rotfl:

We just got back..I was sobbing like a baby..Since I know that everytime I pack away some of my daugthers toys that is one step closer to independence for her..She is still little( only 6) but we have said goodbye already to some of her early toys...and I know someday she will be like Andy..off to college.DH was also teary..It was truly a great movie, and I loved it...I felt sorry for lotso.

Not seen the film as its not out in the UK till end of July. We have done the Lotso meet and greet which my kids loved. My daughter would have loved to bring him home, maybe after the film she will change her mind.

We loved the movie, too. And yes, I cried like a baby! lol

One particular scene sort of ruined the whole movie for me. I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet, but it was the scene with Baby and Lotso. Was it really necessary for him to say what he said to baby about his mommy not loving him? And then to be so mean to him? Not a very good message to be sending to the lil ones out there watching.....and it wasn't necessary. They could've gotten that message across in a "nicer" way.

I really liked the movie, but I am disappointed that that scene left a bad taste in my mouth.

I don't think Lotso was really any meaner than any of the classic Disney villains and the fact that he didn't redeem himself made it even better (not to mention his eventual fate). There are mean people in the world who don't suddenly fill themselves with love in the third act.

one of the best quality of the films in my opinion.

Just saw it, loved it, cried like a baby!
Happy with the ending, thought toys ended up great, but still soooo sad, bittersweet, ya know.

Lotso... oh, my. Knew he was bad. But towards the end thought he'd turn around. But when he didn't push the button.... oh, no. I said oh, I just want to go to DHS right now and punch that bear in the nose!!!! Okay, I won't.... but BOOO Lotso! Just when I was feeling bad for the poor guy.

Bonnie? is that the little girl's name? Loved her, and loved her other toys, wish they were in the movie more!

So.... Toy Story 4????

Mr. Potato (Tortilla) Head!!! :lmao: The funniest part of the movie, I want a picture with him.

Or Mr. Prickle Pants, Buttercup, Trixie would be good too.

I was a little teary eyed towards the end, but the lady next to me was balling her eyes out!

I was a little confused about the choice of lotso too! I guess they can make it better if they bring out some more of the new characters.

We went with the whole family. DS, 24, went and took his fiancee and her two year old little boy. I was crying and my DS was also teary eyed. He just graduated last year from college, got a real job and is now helping to take care of a little one himself. I think the movie just touched his heart about where he has been and where he is going. We all loved it!

I think it's because he's the only recognizable NEW character from the film. The only other one would be Ken, but you can't exactly have a Ken character prancing about the park, know what I mean? The toys from Bonnie's room were very minor characters, as were the other toys from Sunnyside.

But hey, if they could make a Mr. Tortilla Head character that could flop around the park, then they'd have a winner. But otherwise, Lotso is the ONLY choice for a character where you would automatically KNOW it's Toy Story 3 and not the earlier Toy Story films.

I wondered exactly the same thing when the movie was over about why they were pusing Lotso for meet and greet.

I LOVED the movie and like most of you, cried like a baby at the end.

Add me to the list of crying movie-goers! We all loved it!!

Maybe just because he's so cute and just looks so huggable? My DS told me that he wants to get a Lotso toy even though he was so bad in the movie, he just thinks he's cute.

DD has a Lotso plush from Disneystore.com and took it with her to the theater last night. We had Several people asking her where she got it after the movie.
So, apparently kids are more forgiving than we give the credit for.

Great movie...

Loved Lotso... I knew for a while now (thought I read it here) that he was the villain, but I love the fact that they really gave his back story.

We also got Toy Story Uno (card game) where it says right in the instructions - "Lotso may be good or evil".

I think this movie really pushed the human emotion. It was very very well done.

Also LOVED the PIXAR short "Day and Night", I think it's the best Pixar short yet.

We also loved the movie. I have pics of the boys giving Lotso the biggest hugs a few weeks ago. After the movie last night, they said they wanted to give him a kick! I know that there is no way they would wait in line to meet him after seeing the movie.

I understand that other villans are in the parks, but the good guys are there too. None of the good guys from this movie are there- just Lotso. And my kids generally like the villans. They just don't like Lotso at all.

Buzz and Woody are pretty heroic, I think ;) The army men and Jessie and Bullseye also make appearances.

Buzz and Woody are in Andy's room for meet and greet's and have been there for a while now.

I understand that Lotso has taken centre stage at the Animation Studio, but that really doesn't bother me. You do know he's just a character right? :rotfl2: Besides, it would be a riot to interact with him, tell him your on to his shenanigans and see how he reacts.

Agreed! We saw it today and really enjoyed them both! Lotso was bad to the core but Disney has always hyped its villains.
