We are all so excited - we check-in in less than 2 weeks. This is a celebration of our oldest DD turning 21. She knows we are going to DW because that is where she wanted to spend her 21st birthday but doesn't know where we are staying (Hawaii). Also we are surprising her with 4 of her good friends joining us for the week. They fly down the day after we check in. Our other kids know and it has been so hard keeping it a secret. We are planning so much that we will be sad once the planning is over. Each day will have a theme and everyone will wear something that matches. Whether it will be a tie dyed shirt, or flowers in their hair (hats for my DH and DS), bow ties, bandanas, etc and last is the MNSSHP - our DD is Snow White and the rest of us are the Prince, Evil Queen and the 7 dwarfs (10 in total). All her friends are so excited, we are just debating how to surprise her with her friends. We are thinking in front of Cinderella's castle (her favorite place).
We had a tough year with illnesses and now that everyone is healthy we are so excited that the summer is ending in such a fun way. Now I am off to go finish decorating all of the magic bands.
Sounds amazing!!! Have a magical trip!!

Sounds like an amazing trip! Have a great time :wizard:.

Wow! What a special trip you have planned. I think this is one of the most fun ideas I've heard of here on the Dis!
It's going to be an INCREDIBLE vacation!

I agree :goodvibes.

Sometimes I think Poly's views are so great because they include looking at the GF! :cloud9:

I agree! The GF is beautiful to look at and does provide great views from the Poly ::yes::.

I woke up this morning and said, heck why not, let's extend our time at Poly for our October trip and add another day...
the little girl in me that hasn't stayed at Poly since I was 8 is SO FREAKIN EXCITED
:flower1::flower::flower1::flower:

How exciting! It's always fun adding onto a trip. Have a great time! :yay:

Thank you so much. We are truly so excited that our DD wants to spend her 21st birthday with us and at our favorite place on earth. Her friends are more like family friends and we enjoy their company. We just hope we can really surprise her. So far she doesn't know anything. :thanks:

Sounds amazing!!! Have a magical trip!!

Thank you for your wishes. :flower1:

Thank you so much. We have 2 duffle bags packed worth of the daily surprises. I am so glad that her friends are as excited as us. :thanks:

By the way I told my DD she wasn't allowed on the Disboards or the Disney app. DW makes it hard to have surprises. I am glad that my DD wants to be surprised.

You're welcome! I think everyone's going to have a great time, especially your DD! Hope you will report back after your trip to let us know how everything went :).

Yes I will. It is always my intention to do a report and then never do it. This time I will. We have been taking pictures of everything that we are doing to show our DD after. Thanks again. It is fun to share our excitement with people that understand. :flower1:

Today's my 40th birthday and my most awesome present is our trip is only 26 days away!!

Happy Birthday!!! I hope you have a great trip.

I already told my entire family that I'll be in Disney for my 40th birthday and I want to stay at the Poly, too. Thank goodness I have a summer birthday because I'm a teacher and it is hard to take off during the year.

We had a 10 night reservation booked for BC. After reading a poster (Scott) on the BC thread where he was talking about his BC/Poly split stay, I checked with our TA and she was able to change our reservation to 5 nights BC/5 nights Poly. So very excited to stay in the Poly for the first time. We need a rental car the day we check out. Can someone tell me the closest place to rent a car from the Poly? Thanks and I will be reading up on this thread.

The Polynesian Village Resort’s guestrooms are located in eight longhouses, with Disney Vacation Club guests accommodated in three additional longhouses and 20 bungalows (more information on the Polynesian Village Villas and Bungalows can be found in post 14)

The resort longhouses are scattered amongst the Polynesian’s lush tropical landscaping along torch-lit pathways with themed music playing softly in the background.

Standard rooms are found in Rarotonga, Niue, Samoa, Aotearoa, Figi and Tuvalu. Club level rooms are located in Hawaii Longhouse and suites in Tonga.

Standard rooms can be booked in three different categories:

Standard view: with views of the gardens, pools, marina, or monorail
Lagoon view: with views of the Seven Seas Lagoon
Theme park view: with views of the Magic Kingdom and Seven Seas Lagoon

(the main difference between Lagoon view and Theme park view is the latter provides an unobstructed view of the Cinderella castle)

Club level rooms are available with garden, lagoon or theme park view.

Longhouse Details:

All (non-suite) resort rooms are just over 400 square feet in size and feature:

  • Two queen-size beds or one king-size bed
  • Day Bed
  • Small table
  • Chair
  • Ceiling fan
  • Bathroom with two sinks
  • High Speed Internet access
  • Cable TV, includes Disney information channels
  • In-room safe
  • Voice mail

  • Microwave (on request)
  • Pack n Play (on request)
  • Bed boards (on request)
  • Bed rails (on request)
  • All rooms are non-smoking
  • Disabled accessible rooms are available
With the resort (non DVC) longhouses, patios and balconies are only available on first and third floor. Rooms located on the second floor of each longhouse do not feature balconies, but rather a sliding door with a railing that does not allow outside access.

Sitting the furthest west on the Polynesian Resort grounds by Luau Cove, Aotearoa offers views of the resort grounds and the Seven Seas Lagoon to the North. Guest rooms on the south side of the longhouse overlook the resort gardens, with several featuring a view of the monorail. Aotearoa is a short walk to the Great Ceremonial House and is one of the longhouses closest to the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. Aotearoa is the furthest building from the Transportation and Ticket Center. There is a rarely used beach just to the north of the building that provides a nice spot for quiet relaxation.

Number of Rooms: 86
Available Views: standard, lagoon, theme park
Closest to: Luau Cove, marina, Great Ceremonial House
Accessible Rooms: no
King sized beds available: no

Sitting north of Aotearoa, and to the east of Luau Cove, Fiji offers convenience of location and great views. The eastern side of the building sits along the marina and features views of the marina, some limited views of the lagoon and Contemporary Resort, and the back side of the Lava Pool. The western side of the building faces Luau Cove and the quiet western Polynesian beach. Fiji is close to the Great Ceremonial House, one of the closet buildings to the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, but one of the furthest from the Transportation and Ticket Center.

All rooms in the Hawaii Longhouse belong to the King Kamehameha Club and offer all of the amenities detailed in post 7. Hawaii sits on the main Polynesian beach of the Seven Seas Lagoon and is convenient to the beach, both the Lava and Oasis pools and the marina.

Niue is the smallest of the Polynesian Village's longhouses and is nestled in between Samoa to the north and Rarotonga to the south. Niue is very close to the Great Ceremonial House and the Oasis Pool and convenient to the marina and Lava Pool. Niue is the only longhouse on the property without an elevator and is only two stories tall. Guests can access the 2nd floor via the elevator in Rarotonga with a short walk across the bridge between buildings or via the stairs in Niue.

Number of Rooms: 22
Available Views: standard
Closest to: Great Ceremonial House, Oasis Pool, Lava Pool
Accessible Rooms: yes

King size beds available: yes

Sitting between Niue and Hawaii, the Lava and Oasis Pools, Samoa is one of the most popular longhouses at the Polynesian Village Resort. Guest rooms face either of the two pools. Samoa is also just a short walk to the Great Ceremonial House.

Number of Rooms: 54
Available Views: standard

Tuvalu is located on the water’s edge to the west of the marina, with just a narrow strip of garden between the longhouse and the Seven Seas Lagoon. Tuvalu is convenient to Luau Cove, a quiet beach to its west, the marina and the Great Ceremonial House.

Number of Rooms: 54
Available Views: standard, lagoon, theme park
Closest to: Luau Cove, marina, Great Ceremonial House
Accessible Rooms: no

King sized beds available: no

Great thread! I'm currently booked to stay at BC but really considering changing to the Poly. Could someone please tell me if the rooms in Samoa that face the lagoon have king beds? I heard that the only king beds faced the oasis pool. Could someone please confirm this? Thank you! :)

I think I asked this on another thread, but...
It doesn't especially matter, as we are super excited to be staying at the Poly, but I am wondering, just for interest, since we are booked in a NON CL NON DVC lagoon view room, anyone know what house this is likely to be in?

The Car Care Center is just down the road from the Polynesian. You are able to call ahead for a pick-up and the CCC will send a bus/van to pick you up and take you to the rental office. These are Alamo/National rentals and you can get an AP discount, if you have one--or AAA as well. Very easy and close to the Polynesian. :thumbsup2

Both Tuvalu & Aotearoa have lagoon view rooms.

Alamo has locations at both the Car Care Centre, very close to the Poly and at The Dolphin within walking distance (or one stop Friendship boat ride) from The Beach Club. We've done one or two day car rentals where we've picked up at one location & returned to the other, allowing us to switch resorts mid stay on split stays.
